I think your question is going over my head. Pharmaceuticals are one of the most expensive costs of healthcare...or so I heard on the news this morning.
Very expensive. Pharmaceutical companies frequently charge 3 to 4 times more for the same drugs in America that they do in other countries because the insurance companies will pay for it because they’re all part of the same complex one hand rubs the other medical system.
What he did today was a pretty huge deal. We’ll see if it has effect.

This is EXACTLY why this is so important. AND...we are supplementing the rest of the world's drugs because we pay 8-10 times more for these drugs than anyone else. I am waiting to see how big pharma responds. Thune already is throwing small road blocks...but I do not think they can stand up to Trump, and they all know it. We are behind TRUMP:...not the republican party.

On it's face, I hate this. It's regulation akin to price controls, and it will have an effect on R&D budgets. Zooming out, unless we want to go full gonzo on regulating drug supply by having the gov't buy in bulk (making many drugs unavailable), I don't see how we change this.
Trump 1.0 tried this and was shut down by the courts, arguing that he was usurping Congressional authority. Congress doesn't want to do this as they get tons of lobbying money from the industry, but I'm not sure Pharma doesn't see this as a net positive in the long run.
But the best part is the middle man is being cut out.
At worst..it will show who is standing in the way politically. I hope this happens, but even some victory is a victory...just like tariffs.

In 1900 bloodletting was a thing but finish carpenters were magicians. Today it’s impossible to find a craftsman in that trade.
I think that happened too.
My dad was a medical doc. I asked him what his secret was, he was so booked he had to stop taking new patients. He said, "listen to the patient, they'll tell you 99% of what their problems are. At that point, it's simply text book medicine. Nobody listens anymore".
My first and strongest requirement in choosing a doctor, lawyer, or any other type of tradesman is if they listen to me. When I hire them, I don't lie to them,,, and they'd best not lie to me.

Rough Carpenters are where they the newbees usually begin, or where the marginally competent remain.
They are likely (my guess) about 1/2 of all carpenters out there today. Never hire a rough carpenter to do finish work, (or a GP to do your brain surgery).
Fully qualified Carpenters need to be widely educated and experienced to do their jobs at a high level.
The jobs are so varied and difficult that the best of them usually have to specialize in one, or only a few areas, just like doctors and lawyers.
Independent Top Quality Specialty Carpenters are another thing entirely.
There are also parts of their job that few of the elite realize:
Working with customers and clients. Reading blueprints, pictures and drawings.
Designing items or components for individual 'one time only' jobs.
Knowing all of the worldwide wood types and their individual uses and costs.
All of the many and various hand and power tools of the trade (variety increasing daily).
Knowing about the many fixtures and appliances, from lighting to fart-snatchers in the bathroom.
Then the list begins to get really long, beginning with custom cabinet makers and door specialists.
All of the many types of furniture, shelves and mantles, etc, etc....
The below link is just the tip of the knowledge iceberg, but it's a place to begin ignorance removal...
And no, I'm not a finish carpenter, but I've worked with them at times in my younger days. I have worked in my early adulthood (20's) as a rough carpenter. I have been a hobby carpenter my whole life as that hobby runs in the family. Many projects over a lifetime, like my small all wood barn and workshop out back. A one man job including designing and making my own trusses.

All 3 professions consume a lifetime. The difference in pay is greed, and Power Unions that are never called that, (AMA & ABA) and will deny it strenuously (as self protection).
And oh BTW, doctors don't cure people, they just 'practice medicine' (just ask any lawyer specialized in mal-practice) and rake in money on fear of death, (or the fear of jail or bankruptcy in the lawyers case).
That's not to say that they don't work for a living and had to study to do their work, it's just that there needs to be more equality in the amount paid for a lifetimes worth of work. Doctors and Lawyers in reality are just tradesmen too, not gawd almighty....

Other trade workers have always been screwed by the elitist's, and will continue to be screwed until and unless they do what the other 2 have done. Unify and demand it.
Who grows the food? Who prepares it, raw or cooked and packages it?
Who picks it up from the fames and drives it to the next step?
Who organizes it and puts it on the shelves or on the menu?
Who produces the potable water?
Who removes and treats the solids and fluids produced by those drinking the water?
The list of tradesmen is long, and none of the doctors nor lawyers/judges/politicians can live without them.
I can go longer without a doctor, than a doctor can go without potable water....
AI can give me medical advice, but AI can't find, produce, treat, and deliver the potable water to us.
I swear, the Amish / Freeman way of life is beginning to appeal to me more and more each day.....
