Yea that's what I've read. The reason our class was rated 92nd or whatever it was when Muschamp got fired is because a lot of recruits who wanted to go to UF either stayed uncommitted to see if he would keep the job or committed elsewhere to hold a spot and wait it out.
I still remember all the Zook apologists, and how he was going to win big at Illinois, well we saw what happened there. Speculating is what makes football fun, but at the end of the day all we have our FACTS to fall back on....like records and what actually happened in games....
Didn't Zook actually do decent one year at Illinois? Muschamp may have a decent year at USC but we know what type of coach he is
If you cannot recruit at a high level (esp at the FL schools) you are doomed. I don't care what kind of coach you are, if you can't get the top players you are not winning anything.
I think JMc is a good coach, but if he can't bring in the top talent you will never win anything big. Why has Saban or Meyer (or even JF) win, they have top recruiting classes year after year. Charlie Strong would have been a good fit, but your AD messed that up. Your recruiting would have been very good with Charlie.
BB could recruit the top players almost every year except his last 4-5. The other thing is getting really good assistants that can develop players.

I agree with most of this, but you do have to coach them up some too. And you are right, Mac better get the recruiting going big time.
The top recruiters year jn and year out are Meyer and Saban. Also holders of what, 7 of the last 10 titles? And Jimbo is proof recruiting alone can make a program successful

Now, he could not maintain that kind of success yearly, but hey, it's freakin' Illi-noise afterall.

That would also point to academic's and discipline levels...

You shouldnt have to cheat, they are in Florida. Talent is everywhere, just need some excitement. Recruits need to see that the offense is going in the right direction.
Since the Spurrier tenure at Carolina we have out performed you. Get ready for more of this from Muschamp, starting this Saturday. Next year we will be one of the favorites to win the East, not the Gators. As it stands right now , we are rated above you in this years recruiting. Next year the state of SC will have the best crop of prospects ever and we are lined up to get the best ones. You guys just refuse to accept your fate.
