Simple Question: What overmatched ACC team will Jimbo lose to this year?

Ina all honesty, our o line the yr we won the title, our o line was just as bad. Jameis jus got rid of the ball quicker. In the national title game Auburn was the first team to be able to cover our receivers for 2 seconds so tjey had a ton of pressure on him. In 14 when we went undefeated our o line was actually worse than last yr but again, we had jameis. I thought the game jameis played against ND that yr, was the best passing game from a college qb i had ever seen with pressure on him. Look up the highlights. He was getring blasted every play and still anticipating throws and dominating. If jameis was not on our 14 team, we lose 5 games easy that yr

True. I remember saying something similar at the time. I just don't know if y'all will have the same caliber weapons this year. I like Francois, Tate, and Murray, wasn't too impressed with anybody else.

Oozie, I think the weapons are on defense although Frenchy could be really good imo.

I cosign that. I don't like your coordinator though, I don't think he gets what he should out of them. BUT y'all should be loaded there, if y'all beat Bama that will be why.

Bama wins all of these games to start the year, you would think at some point they would have to at least get a scare... either way, if two ACC teams beat them in a row all the people that pretend that conference wars don't matter, will ALL be a part of the choir.

Our running back Jacques Patrick is pretty good. We also have 2 other running backs who were 5 stars but they r freshaman and u nvr know with them. Our o line is meh, our TE is meh. Our receivers are ok, im not overly impressed with them. George Campbell who was a 5 star 3 yrs ago is about 6'4 and can really run but the second he starts playing well he gets hurt, so i dont know. I dont think we can rely soley on our offense to carry a game. They are competent and can score but i wouldnt rely on them to outscore anybody. If our defense has an awful day, we lose. Our special teams is shaky at best.

So you're going to be the one guy that thinks you had a good OL?

You stated the FSU OL was a wreck. Nowhere did I say they were good, however, FSU had the #2 SOS last year and had a new QB facing 7 of the top 25 defenses yet went 10-3. Perhaps not a total wreck.

I don't like Patrick at all, no great back can be as slow as he is. My bet is he gets passed up by more talented guys eventually. I think your WR core has a lot of potential, Murray and Tate can ball and Gavin has a lot of potential too. If your oline steps up and protects Francois can pass you to some victories, but whether they'll protect or not is the big question mark.

Y'all could run Francois more too, but doesn't seem like Jimbo wants to do that. But a few options, QB draws, etc. would slow the pass rush way down and not just have them racing to the QB.

Jimbo doesnt want to run Francois unless its absolutely necessary becuz of our back up QB situation

I would bet he gets 1k yards this yr if he is the guy. He is not dalvin, they are totally different backs. I wont judge him based off of bama game tho. Fournette had 20 yds or something like that against bama. I think Patrick has a certain skillset, hes not as slow as u think. Hes not a burner/break away guy but in his couple starts he has ran for over 100 yds and did a great job. We will see. Im optimistic about him.

Unless FSU's oline is much much better I'm not seeing the top 5 ranking with them. There were times last year I actually felt bad for Francois watching them play. And it'll be interesting to see how they replace Cook too because he was almost like a cheat code. Similar to us when we had Harvin any time we needed a play he'd come through and make bad plays calls look like genius play calls just by being a star.
I don't understand why FSU can't get an oline...it's literally like putting shopping cart tires on a Ferrari. smh

Rumor has it Frenchy will be allowed to run more this year. They can't play scared.

Trickett= your Nussmeir. He puts together an average oline like every 5 years. Have no idea why Jimbo keeps him around.

Individually they are not bad players. They just get so ci fused on who to block. Teams know how to easily confuse them.

If u have seen our backups play.... There are TONS of reasons to play scared and not run him. My worst nightmare is us losing to bama while frenchy gets hurt.

I am fearful of him getting hurt too but you don't coach or play the game with fear of injuries. DF held on to the ball too long in a lot of situations last year. With him on the move it hopefully takes added pressure off the OL. He doesn't need to be a meathead like Kendra and try to run through walls. Pick up your 4-5 yards and lay down. Much better than getting pancaked by your preferred prison inmate.

A DAN KENDRA REFERENCE?!?!

What is this? 2006 with Noles doubting Tebow?

One word: Trickett

I'm not sure how much of that is Trickett and how much of it is Jimbo. Jimbo is as hands-on as it gets in modern times, especially for anything offense-related. I was under the impression that these days Trickett is mostly recruiting and running practice drills that Jimbo had a hand in designing.

Really?

Wow...should probably get a new OL coach.

Maybe one that coaches OL.

FSU probably should get an updated OL coach but I disagree with Jimbo being the behind the scenes coach at OL.

Jimbo never bowed to pressure to hire real coaches for offense, even when his seat was moderately lukewarm in late 2011. Now that he has a National Championship, and is in a much stronger position, I doubt he is going to change his mind. He can, somewhat justifiably, argue that whatever he's doing works.

Trickett does what he wants. Jimbo let's him be in doing drills.

I think we go 10-2 with close losses to Bama and Clemson. Our Oline being the difference against the two best fronts we play.

I would play careful with him. Maybe not scared but smart.

sadgator would not be surprised at all if FSU beats Bama in ATL. They historically play very well in big OOC games. sadgator honestly gives them mad props for having the balls to schedule this game. sadgator couldn't give a rat's nut about their ACC schedule, but is very glad they have to come to Gainesville at the end...anybody penciling that game in as an auto W either way is nuts.

The most FSu thing to do would beat Bama, hammer Miami, then lose to NC state. Depends on QB for UF game. I kean with no qb u havent scored a td in 2 yrs. If UF has a QB its a close game. No qb, i give us a 90% chance to win

As long as one's definition of "whatever he's doing works" includes 2-4 loses every.single.year. Unless another Jameis walks through the door.

Show me a list of P5 active coaches with a higher winning % for more than a yr. Since that list will be only a couple of names, I'd suggest "it works". To think that JF's 2.4 losses per yr. as a P5 coach is not elite is stupid.
