Ron DeSantis stands no chance against a political barbarian like Donald Trump...

DeSantis will never again have the political momentum he now possesses. I'm not sure how anyone can believe he would be intimidated by Trump. Never happen.

It's truly a shame Trump can't set aside his ego and step aside. He's had his time and he did a very good job. But he's almost as old as Biden and although still sharp mentally he's simply not as physically or mentally strong as he was in 2016. Many view and accept him as being that same person but he's just not. I'm 78 and fondly wish I was as capable as I was eight years ago. Time spares no one. For the good of our nation, Trump needs to step aside and give DeSantis eight years to save our country.
WHY WOULD HE...He is in the lead.

JFC the pearl clutching from you is exhausting.

Trump and DeSantis need to have a knock down, drag out brutal primary. It's the best thing for the party by far. It strengthens both candidates and makes sure that they are battle hardened for the real race.

And the media is going to go balls deep on ANY republican candidate. Remember milquetoast Romney was attacked for dog abuse, his time as a venture capitalist and "binders" of women? That guy's a moderate democrat.

Kamala accused Joe of being a racist and he still picked her as his running mate. Think about the past for just a second...primaries don't decide general elections.

Thought provoking.

My concern is that certain voters will cut off their noses in spite of their face (RDS voters not voting for Trump if he wins or Trump voters not voting for RDS is he wins). That concern may well be invalid.

I'm not onlyTrump but Trump is the only politician that can't be bought off.

Soros' endorsement of DeSantis, and some of the people on his staff, worry me he's a trojan horse.

I don't believe he endorsed DeSantis. I think he predicted DeSantis would win.

I think he's hoping that if a republican wins, it won't be Trump. He likes DeSantis insofar as DeSantis isn't named Trump. JMO

@GhostOfMatchesMalone corrected me as well.

He did say some nice things about him, and compared him to Trump favorably (without mentioning Trump by name). But you're right, it wasn't a technical endorsement.

OnlyTrump is just as bad as NeverTrump.

Trump shouldn't have a base that will stay home if he isn't the nominee.

This is not about Trump. It's about what's best for America.
Dems NEED Trump to run. And the hard heads who still believe in DJT are a certain type who live in a “my mind’s made up so don’t confuse me with the facts” world. Staying home and not voting if Trump is not the nominee is what the Dems want and need. It’s what NONE of us true Americans who love our country want.
Once more you have a choice: An elderly man who used to be a Dem or your country.
Those of you screaming the loudest that I’m wrong aren’t the brightest bulbs in the chandelier or you’re a DNC troll. Period.

IMO no Trump voter will refuse to vote for DeSantis simply because Trump didn't win. If we don't vote for DeSantis, it will be because we feel we cannot trust him.

Plain and simple. If we believe he is America First, he will get our vote. If we believe he really is in bed with RINOs, then he won't.

Plain and simple. It has nothing to do with who wins or loses, it has everything to do with his character.

BTW if I reached a point where I couldn't trust Trump, he wouldn't get my vote either.

IMO he said it that way intentionally to make people/media think it WAS an endorsement.

What I fear is that he said it that way intentionally KNOWING that DeSantis wouldn't correct the record.

Nobody in their right mind is going to sit on the sidelines and not vote for DeSantis if Trump is not the nominee. I think we all agree here with that. DeSantis is Trump 2.0 but now is just not his time, and I think he knows it, no matter how much friction between the camps. I personally believe the friction is 90% conjured up and created by the media that hates the GOP.

The stupidity is stunning. Let's JUST MOVE ON from the most popular candidate IN THE HISTORY OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.

Brilliant!

Let's say DeSantis runs and whips Trump's ass. The SECOND DeSantis wins the nomination, we will IMMEDIATELY start hearing from the media about how DeSantis is a serial rapist/adulterer/criminal, etc, Women will 'come forward' almost daily accusing DeSantis of every carnal sin under the sun.

And every moderate and RINO here that is gushing over DeSantis will TURN ON HIS ASS just as quickly. They will all wring their hands, clutch their pearls and claim 'I didn't know DeSantis was THIS BAD! I can't support THIS!' I have no doubt meemaw was somewhere on an AOL political forum in the fall of 2012 saying she couldn't support Romney. "I had no idea he was really a racist who cheated on his taxes and tied the family pet to the roof of his car! I can't support such filth!'

We have the dumbest trolls on the internet.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. There is NO way DeSantis is in bed with Soros or Paul deCuck Ryan. No way.

I have no doubt looking at DeSantis past history in Congress he will push crooked trade deals for the establishment like he tried before and increase H1B visas etc. With some of his past statements I wouldnt even put it past him to push a big legalization of illegals that have been here for some time like Bush tried back in 2007 or whenever it was. DeSantis didn't just pull this mess getting in bed with the Bush and Paul Ryan crowd to not pay them back somehow. He has been carrying out things by a script he was given to try and take out Trump along with their social media influencers doing their scripts. Luckily Trump woke up to it in time.

I guess we'll see. I will say I'll be shocked and disappointed if this comes to fruition. Also, if DeSantis runs against Trump in the primaries, I've never waivered from voting for the Don.

I hope he thinks really hard about what he is doing and reconsiders but time will tell I guess. We will probably know by May. Polls at that time might dictate what he chooses. My guess would be if he isn't well behind they will probably be able to push him to follow through with running. If Trump was to go on to win in 2024 he will definitely try to finish DeSantis off though as he doesn't like it when people do things like this after he goes out of his way to save them in a political race.

It will be interesting to see if DeSantis signs this if it passes.
That seems kind of weird to me. I wrote him several months ago about the Chinese buying 1500 acres in Citrus County to acquire land to run a damned primate/monkey farm for testing drugs. Haven't heard a peep. I'll look into that again, that pisses me off.

I don't think DeSantis needs to correct the record on stuff like this.

IMO it's like when David Duke endorsed Trump. Screw that guy...and Trump had no cause to comment one way or the other. IMO silent contempt in a situation like that is much more effective than any reply.

And yet the liberal media kept asking, dozens of times, even after Trump eventually said that he didn't care to have Duke's endorsement. Expecting DeSantis to comment on Soros or the others that have been mentioned is a lot like that imho.

If he does then he's done...and he isn't who I hope he is.

My guess is that he thinks it's as ridiculous as we do.

This would be dumber than dirt...I would say it is DEMOCRAT level stupid.

For the moment, I am choosing to believe that this is just some sort of baseless attack from someone who fears him. I am 100% keeping my eyes wide open here...but after watching the Fox Nation special on DeSantis...this does NOT sound anything like him. If he swings over to the establishment..he will be DONE politically as a conservative. He would have to join the enemy if he does

If I'm reading this bill right, ANY mention on your blog of ANY major government official or member of state legislature would flag your content. So if you had a blog where you ranted about Gator football, but decided one day to write on your blog how you wanted DeSantis to be President, you would have to not only report any money your blog made from that post, but then send in MONTHLY reports for any month in the future where you published at least one post.

It appears to possibly be a First Amendment violation on top of being a really stupid idea.

He will be done politically. The left has people they can trust in place. They see DeSantis as a way to potentially take Trump out. If he can ever do that, his usefulness to them will meet its end. As will his political career.

Again...all he had to do was stay in Florida, do an amazing job for them for 4 more years, then walk to the White House in 2028 and 2032, with the full endorsement of Trump and the America First movement. His popularity would have surpassed even Trump's by the time he was done.

Oh well.

If you don't vote for DeSantis in a general, you need to place a plastic bag over your head and duct tape it shut at the neck. Dumb

Still would rather have Trump. I KNOW for 100% FACT that the establishment does NOT control him, and todays Conservative platform is 100% Donald Trump. If DeSantis wins the primary...I will support him over ANY commie lefty

Not sure about some Trump voters staying home. I guess some would because they hate the establishment that bad and if this race drags on that will be pushed by Trump daily. My guess is Trump would never call for his supporters to vote for DeSantis since he sees him as a backstabber jumping in bed with the crooks after he rescued him in the 2018 Rep primary against Putnam. If this scenario happened AZ and WI would be the most likely states it could cost DeSantis the win. There are a lot of hard-core Trumpers there and the cocktail club Rep voters probably couldn't overcome the votes for the Dem in those states. I am sure Trump is going to permanently bury DeSantis with the base if he wins the White House again. The old saying about not missing when trying to take out the King definitely applies here.

Speaking for myself only, but I've voting against whomever the Dimtard nominee is. The Dems won't allow anything but a leftist puppet to run. That much is a rock solid Vegas lock.

If Trump is smart he will use this CPAC speech tonight to frame the "its us against the crooked establishment" argument and name drop DeSantis jumping in bed with them to run. If Trump is able to get DeSantis competing for mostly just the establishment vote he should be able to hold him off no matter how much those billionaires spend pushing DeSantis.

I have voted in 11 Presidential elections..and nor ONCE have I EVER been remotely close to voting for a communist lefty democrat. Just like never owning a mercury outboard...I will never vote for a commie democrat.

If we dont go toe to toe with these RAT bastards ballot harvesting in the swing states it doesn’t matter who runs
Bingo. That's why I always preface ANY thread republicans start about 2024 candidates with this question:

Have we ensured election integrity?

We have not. So this and all threads like it are pointless.
