Report: Elon has agreed to buy Twitter

I agree that the government should not be directly pressuring social media to edit or remove posts. I thought it was common knowledge that "VIPs," such as governments, had direct channels to social media companies enabling expedited handling of their requests.

I don't like it. And I think it needs to stop. But, it's not new information.

I think the fact that you aren't more outraged is telling in and of itself.

Combined with the MSM outright refusal to hold to the standards of the 4th estate, when they aren’t flat out schilling for the left, how is a democratic republic supposed to survive?

Regardless of your political views, if you love this country, you cannot tolerate this failure and fraud.

Critical thinker wonders: Since we now have evidence that Hiden and Twitter colluded to interfere in the 2020 election, does this open the door for a class-action lawsuit from voters in the 2020 election?

I think it does. Perhaps to invalidate the 2020 election and re-do it?

Can someone refill my popcorn?

Am I not foaming at the mouth with sufficient zeal?

I don’t like politicians pressuring social media into removing or editing content. But I was already aware that they had direct channels for this so I was not shocked by the revelation.

Section 230 was supposed to discourage this sort of thing. This is why I was confused by Trump’s call to overturn it, and why his supporters seemed to back him in this.

And I believe that this goes beyond 230 just a bit. There was a coordinated effort here and the sole intent was to deceive the American public prior to the highest election in the Republic.

Sorry brother, that's a problem.

I don't know why we're even discussing this. The MSM, the FBI, and social media DELIBERATELY quashed the crackhead Hunter laptop story........PERIOD. Do we still have morons saying otherwise?

I'm downplaying the "shock" factor, not the moral turpitude.

It's still shocking imho.

You certainly suspect things like this but to see proof of such is absolutely shocking. Are we really this numb now?

The consequences of these actions are...Holy crap, it's hard to put into words. Who do you trust now? The damage to the image of the FBI in itself is stunning.

You also have double punch to the 4th estate. Suppression of a legit story by one organization...and a complete dereliction of duty by the rest.

I think you're underestimating the impact here. I guess it's sort of understanding how you could be numb with the sheer amount of BS we've been spoonfed the last decade or so.

This goes beyond a decade Barney Fife 😉😂😂😂

I believe the CIA has been involved with mainstream media since the 60’s.

It started out as omitting facts from stories, morphed into group think to now full on suppression.

I’m a firm believer nothing will happen but Chris Wray has a lot of explaining to do.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to reinforce Section 230 than to throw it out? Just add language that specifically shields online providers from being held responsible for things like “spreading misinformation.”

Without this, lawmakers can pressure social media into removing or editing content for political reasons under the veil of “stopping misinformation.”

When Twitter, Facebook and instagram started putting warnings on posts, section 230 went out the door. 230 gives social media a platform status where they can’t be held accountable, when they start editing users posts, it violates 230.

Getting rid of it puts social media platforms in the same category as news agencies in which they could be sued for damages and liability. I was a fan of this at first, especially when Twitter purged my account the same day DT was purged but in the grand scheme of things, I’m against it.

I do agree that it should be enforced and unless users are violating platform policies then it’s free game. The warnings for all platforms need to be removed for good unless it’s a warning regarding violence, death or child pornography/molestation.

I think we basically agree then.

ReRe...there was a concerted effort between this administration and the liberal AF leaders of twitter to deceive the American public and influence an election.

That goes well beyond 230. You still seem to be minimizing here. I don't get it. I can't see how any patriot isn't furious...lib or con.

We do, my only push back is your comment on “stopping misinformation”. Stopping misinformation would require people to be honest and people are not honest in general nowadays.

It’s too easy to sit behind a keyboard or phone and project something that you aren’t. We see this daily with El Ratón.

I've been warning here for 2 years that if 230 is overturned, boards like this one will disappear.

Another issue I break from Trump on. Wow I am closer to an 'independent' than the posters here claiming to be an 'independent'.

No. I agree.
LMAO! If Trump had done what Hiden did, you would have had a stroke from screaming by now. Remember how you had a legit panic attack as Jan6 was happening?

Here, we have actual evidence of the dems interfering in the 2020 election, and possibly laying the groundwork to eventually overturn the entire election.....and you have a resting BP rate of 20 over it.

Hilarious.

FTR, I love watching the whole board call you out like this.
We disagree with ReRe on a lot of stuff, but it's not like he's eaten up with the Lil Dickey/Cucky disease. It's okay to disagree on some things. He recognizes that Sum Ting Wong with how shit has gone down from not only the media but the FBI. Let's take the win and move on. The real battle is with the sloped foreheaded children previously mentioned. 😂

Verified. Operation Mockingbird.

Nothing will happen as long as the dems are in a position to effectively police themselves.

I don't think that will remain the case for much longer. Every story coming out like this on Twitter wakes a few more people up.

Once everyone is awake, then the game is over for the uniparty.

The difference is, they will tell you they are trolls. Posters like @Uniformed_ReRe and @kalimgoodman present themselves as being independents, then every time they have a chance to prove it with a story like this, they fail miserably.

Any true independent is outraged at this story.

Sadly, the modern dems have morphed into 'the end justifies the means'. They don't care that Twitter and Hiden colluded, cause that collusion helped Hiden win*.

If Twitter was owned by Steve Bannon and had colluded with Trump to help him win, @Uniformed_ReRe would be in the hospital right now.

I agree. But ReRe hasn't gone "full retard" like the rest. It's good to hear a halfway sane argument to present an argument. ReRe falls into the category "can be educated". Unfortunately.......Lil Dickey and the Cuck soi boi are too far gone. :(

Yea, not mad at ReRe...just vehemently disagree in this circumstance.

If we don't have journalists who hold both sides feet to the fire, we're done. Seriously, it's over for us.

Twitter isn't the media...certainly not part of the core that is designed to protect the electorate. However, they assisted in this artifice...this absolute fraud perpetrated on the American public.

Totally agree. And what happened to the cucky argument "private companies can set terms of service" since Musk has started cleaning house of butthurt twats who censored opposition to their triggered little puswahs? The worm has turned. LULZ.......... 😂

This would likely cover Twitter suspending users for posting about the voter fraud in the 2020 election as well as Trump being suspended because he told everyone not to break the law on Jan 6.

As I said, the liberals deserve every bit of this. No backsies now guys, you defended this, now you will own it as the WORLD sees exactly what you blindly defended.

I think part of the difference is that you guys see malice whereas I see poorly-defined policies and inadequate separation of interests allowing individuals to make decisions clouded by their own bias and assumptions.

A possible workaround is to require a third party, like a judge, to act as an intermediary, similar to the warrant system.

Basically, we need more checks and balances.

Who, in your opinion, should be doing the checks and balances?
