Please Just Hire Lane

He’s better the Norvell IMO. Fuente actually has built a program and was successful. I was a little surprised he didn’t work out at VT.

I think the hire is worth giving a chance, maybe you hit on the next Meyer, who knows

I am more in Danny’s camp, you fire Mullen is this is who you go directly for?

I think it is all about recruiting right now and trying to build a program and trying to find a CEO to run the entire program from the bottoms up. We will see. I think that is why some guys like Kiffin aren’t really being considered.

The Lane Train looks to be headed to the Sugar Bowl at 10-2 and we are probably headed to the toilet bowl. Throw the check book at Lane and his defensive coordinator. Lane coaches with emotion and his kids play with it.

Michi who would like to see?

I would like to see us throw the house at a guy like Lincoln Riley

after that, Kiffin would be my choice but I would give Napier a chance. But I want the recruit-niks to agree if Napier fails they will STFU next hire

I would love Riley too, but word is he told LSU no. Not sure if he is looking to leave, he has a good set up there. Could change with the move to SEC. I am not a kiffin fan, for a lot of reasons. Napier is a risk for sure.

Riley could change his mind Saturday night if Mike Gundy's OSU team takes the sooners down.

Kiffin is a good coach but he’s not a long term solution or a program builder. Actually his recruiting is only a little better than average as well. I just think he’s a bit unstable and can’t trust him. He always seems like he has 1 foot out the door. I don’t think Kiffin was under consideration by our admin because of some of those things.
Wow! I didn't know Ole Miss is currently ranked 41st in recruiting which is far worse than last year.

And we are 39th at 5-6 so I'll take his 41st recruiting class and his 10-2 record. Holla back after Early Signing Day and let's see where they both end up.

He also said that Matt Corral jumped on the "Lane Train" when he decommitted from UF, in 2018. I didn't know Corral played at FAU his first two seasons.

Ole Miss was also 17th or 18th the year before. Think before you post.

This!

Not sure why people think Kiffin is a good recruiter. He's never recruited better than average - maybe it's be cause he's a young looking guy and an offenisve cat. But stats show him to be very average.

If you think that talent on the roster is a bit problem then Kiffin is not the answer.

I think he improved it at FAU some and his first 2 classes were decent but not real good for Ole Miss. This class is bad but not sure if its because he might be bolting.

Lane is the son of Monte Kiffin, a long time defensive coordinator in the National Football League, most notably for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2013, Monte resigned as the defensive coordinator on Lane's staff at USC and was hired for the same position with the Dallas Cowboys.[43]

Lane and his ex-wife Layla, who is a University of Florida alumna, have three children.[79] Kiffin's brother, Chris, was a defensive lineman at Colorado State University[80] and is the current defensive line coach for the Cleveland Browns.[81] Kiffin's former father-in-law, John Reaves, was a former starting NFL and USFL quarterback who played college football for the Florida Gators. On February 28, 2016, Lane and Layla announced that they were separating and had mutually decided to divorce

He used to have Gators ties but don't anymore.

I honestly don't think Kiffin is or has been under serious consideration for the Florida job. No facts to support that opinion, just don't believe he's the type of guy who would fit or last long in Gainesville.

Matt Corral made him look good and he's losing Matt next year so curious to know how many of those explosive running backs and receivers he will have back next year? Plus he could take the Miami job if it comes open.

If you’re going to hire kiffen, just hire freeze. He’s going to crush it wherever he ends up for a year or two before he gets busted dropping bags and making phone calls
With the new NIL stuff Freeze wouldn't have to drop any bags. He could just line the right people up to make all that bag dropping legal.

I have zero worries about Freeze and violations. I also think he is smart enough to either use a burner phone this go around or just ride the straight and narrow.

I'm different from the rest. I'd accept the dude with open arms.

Kiffin would be splashy but I’d like to see him go for awhile without having any wackiness

Honestly, I’d hire him in a second. The only worry I’d have is that he’d have a spotlight on him, but I’ve said it before… ole miss got caught, and I didn’t see any real damage done to them. Even when they were supposed to be on probation, were they any worse than they usually are? They’re now ranked in the top 10, so what exactly is the downside of hiring freeze?

Check this out.

Kiffin leaves UT...they haven't been much since.

Kiffin and USC divorce...USC hasn't been that great since.

Freeze leaves Arkansas State, they stayed good under Malzhan, Harsin, and for the most part under Blake Anderson.

Freeze leaves Ole Miss and couple of years.later they are ranked top 10.

If whatever parted us and Kiffin, we'd be down a decade. If whatever parted us with Freeze we'd either stay good or bounce back pretty quickly.

Freeze>Kiffin but Freeze just signed that new contract.

Anybody else consider the sweater vest Jr from Minnesota? Then again, he may have signed an extension himself.

If we ever get seriously desperate, I'd like to have Brian Johnson back in Gainesville. He wouldn't be the worst case scenario.

True. I really see no reason not to hire freeze apart from whatever stigma would come from other AD’s, which I could give less than a sh$t about. He’s honestly the only lock I can think of as a hire. I imagine he’ll get another big time job at some point and I feel very confident he’ll excel. I have the feeling lots of schools are going to regret not hiring him fairly soon.

The only thing that sucks about Freeze is he just signed an extension, so I don't think Stricklin will think he’s worth it.

Lots of people think Kiffin is some really good recruiter where in fact he’s just average to slightly above average. He really doesn’t like it that much either & another reason why he doesn’t stay at places too long if he can avoid it. I think he’s a good coach but IMO he really isn’t that much different than Mullen when it comes to some of the other things needed to run a program. I think he would do good at UF early and then slowly flame out.

If there was a such a thing as long lost twins...it's Kiffin and Dan. Dan just more stable.

If LSU doesn't hire Napier, I believe they end up with the Fat Stoops brother. I might be wrong but I believe Riley stays at OU for another season.
