1. Planned Parenthood guy - this one is easy. Have you seen his picture? He is obviously psycho and should never have been sold a weapon by whoever he bought it from. I would make someone that looked that that get a note from a psychologist before ever obtaining a weapon.
2. Muslim guy - this one is more difficult but calls for extreme measures. We are at war with radical Islam so anyone with a Muslim sounding name (Al- whatever or Muhammed something) or has traveled to the Middle East in the last 5 years has to submit to an extensive background check before obtaining a weapon. And they should be limited to one small caliber weapon for self defense purposes only (no AR's, etc.)
And yes, I'm perfectly serious about that.

They bought hand guns. And killed people with them. A "small caliber handgun" is deadly, if less accurate than a long gun. But they are deadly. Most gun deaths in the USA are from handguns, not long guns.
They also got two long guns, ostensibly from a "friend." That is illegal, if the friend that bought them knew he was buying for them. No law would have prevented that, as it is already illegal to buy a gun with the expressed intent to immediately give it/sell it to someone else. .
How do you know that's what he did? It's impossible to prove now. People on here constantly argue against background checks and registration related to private sales of guns. I'm glad you support it

Trump's proposal is constitutional. There's nothing in the constitution that prevents us from denying anyone entry into our country. Your plans for American Muslims are Japanese internment 2.0, And I don't even like Muslims, I just don't think you can take their rights away or subject them to singling out without due process. In times of peril it is most important that we stick to our ideals. This is why Spaceheater lost his mind when they passed the Patriot Act. He understood that while it might be fine when your guys are in power, do you really want the other side to have that kind of power?

I don't know about DJ, but I come from a long line of bad neighborhoods, where home invaders often masquerade as lost pizza delivery drivers, UPS men, or Jehovah's Witnesses. I don't tend to carry in the house because i spend most of my time in the bedroom, but there's a piece by the front door and one in the bathroom under the sink. Just in case.
Tough gun laws can't really work in isolation. If you ban guns in California, there's nothing stopping people from getting a gun from out-of-state.
The only way that a gun restriction can work is if it is applied on a national level, such that the restricted guns are difficult to obtain anywhere in the US. Obviously that doesn't fix the problem of there being over 100 million existing handguns in the country, but it would at least start the trend back downward.
It's sort of like baseball cards. A lot of extremely rare cards today were quite common decades ago.
Eventually, it would get to a point where only well-connected, or wealthy, criminals have handguns due to the scarcity and expense.

And there's 330 million guns in circulation. There are more guns in America than people. And criminals, especially the ones financed by drugs, which is most of them, have access to an unbelievable amount of cash. So the politicians and the criminals will have guns.
