This Houston QB taking on Oklahoma... was he any good in high school?

Let's not forget, Butter brain Mcelwain stole Trask from o_O Houston Baptist

Actually Trask was the one warming up on the sidelines at the start of 2nd half in Miami game. Word is EJ did not perform so great latter part of training camp.

Eye of the beholder, take it for what it's worth..

Not sure what is going on with that but I think Jones would be a better option than Franks with a few starts. Knowing Mullen he won't do it however until there is a high level of adversity or an injury forces it.

As much as I want ANYTHING BUT E, you and I as well as everyone else knows that Dan Mullen has thrown all his eggs into the Franks basket and we're going to see E. Nothing but E. E and E alone until he either gets injured or he puts us so far behind in a game it is mathematically impossible to win (Missouri last year) when he will finally put in one of the other guys.

Franks is the child who keeps screwing up every 5 minutes and keeps getting 2nd chances over and over and over and over and over and over again yet never learns. As I've said before, he's got the skills of Jeff Driskell, but he acts like he's better than Danny Wuerffel and Tim Tebow combined. In the one game we've seen him, Trask led that drive against misery with more leadership and skill than I have ever seen from Franks.

As of right now Franks has the 6th highest QB rating in the SEC. Ahead of guys like Kelly Bryant, Jake Fromm & Jake Bentley.

Recruits that don't count in the class rankings.....
BUCK Jon Greenard 6-3 263 Grad-Sr (UL, OLB/DE)
SEC Defensive PoW vs Miami. 6 Tkls, 1.5 Sacks (-4), 2 TFL (-5).
On a night when Grantham's Gator D produced 10 sacks while holding them to 2 of 13 on 3rd downs. (last season UF held FSU to 1 of 14). IMOHO, - The Gator's now officially OWN Florida again....

Some small concern exists for this weeks game.
UT-Martin is also 1-0, after beating N.W.St.
They were down 14 - 20 in the 1st half, but came back to go 28-0 in the 2nd half. for a 42 - 20 win. With another 3-4 T-O's and a dozen missed Tkl's and the Gators could be in trouble... o_O

The UT Martin defense is led by its veteran LB'ers — Sr's TJ Jefferson and Sherrod Pittman. In the opener, they combined for 23 Tkl's, 2.5 TFL, 1 sack and 2 PBU's. The Martin CB Wayna Moton was named OVC defensive PoW for his performance. He had 7 Tkl's and 2 Int's, returning one 78 yards for a TD in the 2nd half.
~ Martin's DL coach is 2004-07 Gator DT Clint McMillian.
With Franks at QB, this might not be the gimme that we all thought it would be a couple of weeks ago...

On offense - Their QB threw for 2 TDs, on a 39-yard strike to Colton Dowell and a 43-yard pass to Jaylon Moore. While their RB Logan ran for 149 yards on just 13 carries, for a whopping 11.4 YPC.

The Skyhawks are strong on special teams and are led by Terry Williams, one of the most explosive return men in the OVC. He’s also a threat as a WR. Williams was named OVC Specialist PoW after accounting for 199 all-purpose yards, highlighted by a 55-yard punt return for a TD in the 2nd half.

UF should win, but tell that to both Mizzou (Wyo) and Tennis-sea (GaSo).

We dropped from 12th to 16th in the talent composite for losing all those recruits. Wont effect this year but could hurt us in 2020 on etc.

Who did they lose that will 'for sure' hurt UF in 2020? List please.o_O

List all of the players that have transferred in since Dan arrived, just so you can show that your know who they are? o_O

(would, could, might, maybe, IF, sometimes,,,, whiny crybaby crappola)

Outsider's biased rankings mean just as much as they ever have, which is not much.

 o_O 24% of the total class and 35% of the consensus blue chippers. Let me guess you knew all of them would never earn starting positions or serious playing time with UF in the next few years?

Well, that's the fevered brain answer that I was expecting. Lots of mouth-running but no lists,,, and clueless as always...

Hrmmmm Franks = 4 turnovers vs Miami. Froom basically had nobody to pass to as his top 5 receivers from last year left the team and they are trying to find someone new to catch the ball. For the most part his game against Vandy seemed to consist of handing the ball off to the running backs. It's no surprise that Franks has a higher rating if his 4 turnovers don't count too hard against him.

I'm willing to bet none of those players were jawing at the opposing teams fans in the stands while the game was still seriously in doubt, or talking smack to the nationally televised cameras. That right there is the biggest hit against Franks. His utter and total lack of maturity. Sadly in this country today, people mistake immaturity for what it is and they label it stupid things like outgoing personality or marches to the beat of his/her own drum. It all still boils down to acting like a damn adult when you should be and the rest of the country mocks us relentlessly for his childish antics.

I break down the Franks antics a bit differently. The first part that people call immaturity I really see as simple play ground talk. I'm good with a lot of that especially to other players, guys like Brett Favre and such always were in other players faces and it comes across like a competitive emotion. It is more unusual in the QB position but there are guys out there like that.

The other side of it I think of in terms of him having very little sense of the moment, and how his actions are perceived by others. This certainly doesn't mean you need to act a certain way to impress others per se. It's more of a general lack of understanding how one presents themselves to other people...and the cognitive dissidence on others' reaction to your actions.

We all know people like that - they aren't bad people but they have almost no self-awareness. The sales guy at the office that can't believe his joke offended someone...the uncle at the party that makes a slightly racist joke, then can't believe he offended people.

It's like Franks has no self awareness - that's good/bad/doesn't matter if he plays well but that's part of what I think is going on.

So,,,, if you're going to act like an ass-hat, then get used to be called and treated like you're an ass-hat.... Gotcha!

Notes from Dan Mullen's Press Conference - delayed till Wednesday - Dorian

He said he wants to get the backup quarterbacks some game reps. "I don't mind getting those guys in all the time. Those guys work hard at practice to get reps. You never know how games are going to work out."

He said that we’re going to read way too much into who the second quarterback to take the field is.

Mullen said he thinks Feleipe Franks has handled the criticism he got after the Miami game well. The important thing for Franks to remember is that the people saying bad things about him don’t know the game plan, what he was supposed to do on a certain play and how a play is supposed to work. He thinks he’s grown through criticism.

https://247sports.com/college/flori...etting-criticism-roll-off-his-back-135202937/

Mullen explained that all of the 'armchair quarterbacks' out there aren’t privy to the play call, and who may have checked to what, and what player may have made a mistake on the play messing it all up for others.

Dan's got a solid point there, but the Gator fans aren't just a bunch of noisy goobers, although some are.
Ignoring the outside criticism 'noise-in-the-system' can be done,,, for a while. Ignoring 'unjust' criticism is okay,, just make damn-sure that it IS unjust. o_O

Consider this, it's kind of like walking down the railroad tracks....
When the noise begins to get louder, you might want to start paying attention. ;)

And when the ground begins to shake under your feet, it's time to take your head outta your butt.
Then you either get off the tracks that you've been traveling, or you get run down.
Just ask the Zookster about ignoring the 'noise-in-the-system' and it's results....

Goobers and/or non-Goobers --
"Nobody suffers winning like Gator fans do...." :D
(while suffering losing won't ever last long at UF)

Where do you get 4 TOs from?!He had 2 TOs/interceptions and those are calculated into the QB rating.

Are there really Gator fans out there that believe that Mullen wouldn’t play the QB that he thinks gives us the best chance to win or that Mullen isn’t the most experienced to make a call as to who is best-suited to play?

C’mon...

I think Mullen has shown he favors experiece a little over possible potential and that is why he would never consider replacing Franks with Jones this season unless we get some bad losses where Franks doesn't play good. It was at the beginning of the season but he started that one QB over Prescott and put Prescott in who showed he was much better due to an injury to that QB and that QB never got his job back. I could be way off but I think Jones would prove to be better than Franks if he just got a few starts under his belt.

He was only the QBs coach at Utah but it was a few games into the 2003 season that they made Alex Smith the starter due to their more mediocre QB breaking his wrist.
