Official Florida Gators vs South Carolina Gamecocks Basketball game @ Columbia, 6:30 pm on SECTV

I don't think USC can beat us again at home, or even come close honestly. They are the type of team that if you do hit a couple of treys it's like being up on our football team by 3 TDs... and you know it just ain't happenin trying to come back grinding it out

OU just beat WVU on the road tonight so we better bring it next week or whenever that game is, that win could look better for us now on the road.

USC defense might be good but their team for the most part is not a ranked basketball team and not very good, they have nothing offensively outside of one guy and another guy that tries hard with length, Martin literally doesn't even coach during games anymore to try to avoid a coronary or choking one of them... We won't play that bad again and the positive is if we do at least we can still stay in the game.

Only problem here is hoping this doesn't carry over, we've been on the edge of losing like this for about a month now but we need to bounce back. Free throws, can't let that start being a problem again...

Agreed

We have to beat Vandy with OU coming up on the road or this mess could snowball. I think if we beat Vandy we go at least 12-6 in SEC play and get in the tourney even if we struggle down the stretch some.

The loss last night was just due poor play. Coach White had a great game plan and called plays throughout the game that put them in positions to be successful. They just didn't execute. I think he's a very good in-game coach and I expect them to win enough games to get in the tournament. The defense has been consistently good, but just like last year the offense has been inconsistent. Free throw shooting has been much improved most of the year, but failed big time last night. Vandy isn't very good this year, neither is LSU. Although LSU is only 9-8 & 1-5 in the SEC, they are 7-3 at home and so AT LSU and then AT Oklahoma will be tough. Let's just hope they get that psychologist working with them again on their FT shooting and maybe add in an extra session about hitting a jump shot every now and then.

SCa's PG scored 10 pts for the game. Hill already had 11 pts with 4 steals by half-time. The 1st half, after it finally got going, had UF playing pretty good considering that it was being played @ #1 defense SCa.

To begin the 2nd half with a 7 pt lead, the Gators then went 1 for 8 and continued on to go 1 of 15. Jus-DAMN!
The shooters then went 0-fer in the entire game going 0/17 from the freakin' Arc! And several of those arc shots were wide open shots. Had they just made 2 of those missed 17, they could have won the game....
I was having flashbacks of the NC game against MichSt when the big time shooters all went cold, but this was even worse...

Barry and Stone were 13 of 18 (72%) from the arc in their previous 2 games, but combined to go 0 for 9 vs SCa. Team leading scorer SG Allen (13.9 pts/gm) had 1 pt on 1/2 from the FT line.

But hey, I'd rather go ahead get this kind of game out of the way during the season, instead of having it at some more critical point later in the season. This was the season 'aberration' game. They'll recover and move on from it.

The officials boned them at critical times on fouls that they called, and on even more fouls that they didn't call, as usual, but the Gator's own terrible shooting is what finally buried the stake in their hearts...

Going 15 of 28 (53.6%) from the charity stripe just added insult to injury, they couldn't spit in the ocean last night. --- Ah Well - Do-Do Occurs....

This is crazy stuff. Just not our night. Combine this with the officiating, and I'm impressed we had a chance to win.

We had a chance to win playing that bad because USC can't score themselves and is just not that good, we will beat them good in the rematch, I have no doubt. Even if it's low scoring again they will get beat by at least 10.

I still can't understand why some Gator fans still harp on Hill. He's a decent PG, a good human being, and a quality student/athlete for the Gators imo.

PG Kasey Hill 6-1 175 Sr. 9.6 pts / 4.7 asts -- per game average.
~ Hill has hit double-figure scoring in 3 straight games and has at least 4 steals in half of UF's 6 SEC games.
~ He had 11 pts and 4 steals in the 1st half in the loss @ SCa, while the 'shooters' were busy going 0-17 in the game from the arc, (worst in nation from arc this season).
~ Hill needs just 1 more steal to move into UF's all-time Top 10 in that category. He's one theft shy of PG Erving Walker (2008-12), who checks in at No. 10 with 159.

you always bring up the players that do stupid things as good students and good kids lol... Driskel could have been a good kid but he was stupid on the field and a terrible QB.

Hill does things that lose games at the end and is the opposite of clutch, that has nothing to do with me liking him or his character. We need a PG that can win games, protect the ball, hit FT's do things that normal seniors on other teams can do, not a guy that helps our opponents win close ones like he has.

Yep, his last season as the starter, in 6 games he had 22 dropped passes. IF that dumb-sorry sucker had just learned how to throw it, and then run down the field and catch it, he would have been an acceptable QB.

Funny thing is, he looked pretty good the following year at LaTech, when he had a decent coach and receivers that didn't butter their hand in the pre-game. In fact, he's in the NFL right now if I'm not mistaken... o_O

As to Hill as a PG, BillyD thinks you're FoS. Mike White thinks you're FoS. His teammates think that you're FoS. And I agree with all of them...

you can't be serious at this point

The QB is the only player on a football team.
The PG is the only player on a basketball team.
(I can't figure out why they even still call them teams)

Making the perfect solution rather obvious. o_O

All our coaches need to do to find perpetual success in their sports, is to do away with the QB and PG positions. Cut out that cancer and they're home free...

And shirley I'm serious about everything here, so don't call me... :D

What did Hill do against Vandy?

Driskel looked terrible in the NFL preseason throwing it to the other team many times - not sure why Cincy picked him up after SF cut him. I guess because of his size. That system was simplified for him at La Tech and doesn't take a lot of reads etc.

he dumped it off to an NFL rb all season and still couldn't hit a damn thing over 8 yards down the field, that guy could play for 30 years and still be the exact same player forever. He literally gets no better and no worse, he is exactly what he is. Just a bad QB with wasted God given gifts, skill and body. One of the few guys that's literally just a bust even in college before the NFL with the best defense in the nation behind him in college and was still awful. Both games we lost in 2012 was just pathetic, any average QB and we play Bama in the NC game easily

I always wonder why none of the Driskel haters want to address the 22 drops that were charged to Driskel, before he was benched? o_O

Could you tell me what Drew Brees did with the Chargers in his first few years, before being dumped by the Chargers and becoming a star for the Saints? Or how did Steve Young did with the Bucs, before being dumped by the Bucs and becoming a star with the Niners?

the other teams players sure as hell had no problem catching his passes, nor did the DL for Mizzou for multiple pick sixes in a row.

Just as I expected, those 22 drops were all Driskel's fault, as were the 7 WR coaches in 7 years, and 3 OC's , and, and....

How did you jump from Chumps receivers 22 drops (that I believe wanted TH), to the other team being able to catch a Driskel pass. Obviously their D was better at pass catching it than the Gator receivers were. Did you miss the fact that vs Miami, the Driskel Int was caused by the receiver turning the WRONG way on the timing route, and the receiver admitted as much in the post game? o_O

Besides, Driskel is long gone and I'm happy for him. He did well at LaTech, so much so that the NFL is giving him a shot. He makes good of it or not by his own efforts. I wish him well and I understand all that he went through while at UF. IF Jeff doesn't become a star in the NFL, he'll just be joining SOS, Danny Wonderful, and the T-bone....

It's a bit sad that his blind-eyed haters won't just let it go and leave him alone.
