Meet Ron DeSantis

This part isn't the law. If you have a CC permit, it's in a database. That database is tied to your DL and tag...so if we run either, we can see that you have a CC permit. It's just a tool.

No action is taken based on that knowledge...it's just knowledge.

Also almost zero in Alabama. That's another reason why I like the CC permits. The people who carry with a permit are almost always law abiding in general. Those who carry illegally are not.

I've made several dope arrests because the bad guy had a concealed weapon and no permit. Subsequent to arrest on that charge, the search of the vehicle produced an illegal controlled substance. In fact my 3 largest dope busts occurred after I made an arrest for the illegal concealed carry.
I always wondered if a LEO knew if you were a CCL person by running your DL. Thank you

So the LEO's know when a lawful citizen has CCP, big deal. 🙄

Now, if they just had a way to know when an unlawful person was armed, that would be a real benefit...
🤓

As a lawful sovereign citizen, I'll be thankful when Ron signs the Constitutional Carry Law, so that I will no longer need to BUY an expensive state permit to do what I've always done, before and after FL had a CCP, always being armed....

My concern is not whether LEO's know that I have a CCP, but whether I have to pay for their privilege of them knowing,,, by me having to pay for a permit that my Constitution says I didn't need to be an armed Sovereign Citizen to begin with.

I encourage him to pause and see how it goes for those of us who have passed the legislation. JMO

Why in the world should the Republic of Florida's Sovereign Citizen have to wait/pause to see how Alabama does with their laws??? Especially when 25 other states already have Constitutional Carry and it has gone well for them.
Sorry Bama, but you've missed the boat on this one...

Constitutional-Carry-without-Nebraska-scaled.jpg

I'd say that LA, SCa and FL have fallen behind the rest of the SEC in doing what should have been accepted as LAW all along under the Constitution. Their God given human right to self-protection, against ALL ENEMIES, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC....

The first thing that any Communist government does is dis-arm the citizens.
The 2nd is removing their freedom of speech and religion.
The 3rd is a graduated income tax to keep them financially burdened.
The 4th is controlling the vote counters to keep themselves in power.

>>> So, what goals are the Socialist/Communist Rats attempting to implement right now????

Again, if you can purchase a gun from a licensed dealer, you are allowed a permit for $20 a year. If you're looking for a bargain, 5 years for $100. 😁

Again, if you can purchase a gun from a licensed dealer, you are allowed a permit for $20 a year. If you're looking for a bargain, 5 years for $100. 😁

The initial fee for a Florida Concealed Weapon License (all weapons, not just guns) for residents and non-residents is $102 which includes a $42 fingerprint processing fee and a $60 initial license fee.
Renewals for residents cost $50, and for non-residents is $92.

And that doesn't include the cost in both time and money for taking the REQUIRED Concealed Carry Class prior to being allowed to then buy the permit.
The average Florida concealed carry class online ranges from $40-$80.

And you will need to supply your own ammo when doing a live fire competency test.

After you've jumped through all of the hoops and paid the fees... If you are successful, your Florida concealed carry license should arrive 90 days after submission.

Dude, you need to stick to Alabama law and not worry about what Ron does (pause) in Florida,,, for the Republic of Florida's Sovereign Citizens,,, (which is where our conversation on this subject began)... 😎

Just some general information on the Florida CWL:

It allows holders of the license to carry not only a handgun but also other weapons such as electronic weapons, tear gas guns, Billie clubs and knives.
An applicant must be at least 21 years old or a member of the military or an honorably discharged veteran and have completed a firearms training course.

Florida has a relatively strict concealed carry law as it only allows permits for concealed carry weapons (CCW) and frowns upon open carry.

The law, in this case, states that residents and non-residents in the state are allowed to practice open carry in Florida if they meet any of the following conditions:

  • If they are traveling to or engaged in camping
  • If they are engaged in fishing
  • If they are going hunting
  • If they are engaged in lawful target shooting
  • If they are involved in the business of manufacturing, repairing, or dealing in firearms

Due to reciprocity laws between states, the Florida concealed carry permit is currently recognized in 36 additional states. This means that if you are a Florida resident, and you hold a valid concealed carry permit, you can legally carry concealed in any of the other 36 states recognizing the Florida permit.

Self-Defense in FL

Florida is a Castle Doctrine state. Under Florida law, there is no duty to retreat if you are attacked in any place you have a lawful right to be. Instead, you may stand your ground and meet force with force, including deadly force, if you reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent death or great bodily harm to yourself or others.

No. There is no duty to inform a law enforcement officer that you're carrying a concealed firearm in Florida, unless the officer asks.

No. Your Florida driver’s license is not linked to your Florida concealed weapons license.

No. Florida does not enforce civilian "No Weapons Allowed" signs.
Florida Laws do list some places where you cannot carry.

Florida Population = 22 Million.
CCL Issued = 2.3 Million
Meaning that about 1 in 10 Florida Residents are packing.
So, walking around in a Wal-Mart, there are anywhere from 5 to 20 on average packing...

So, in all of these many years that FL has had CCL, why hasn't Florida turned into Dodge City as the Libs claimed would happen? (was just more of their usual Fake News BS)

The Records show that “concealed handgun permit holders are extremely law-abiding.” And added, “In Florida and Texas, permit holders are convicted of misdemeanors and felonies at 1/6 of the rate at which police officers are convicted.” Among police, firearms violations occur at a rate of 16.5 per 100,000 officers.

Which means on average, I have 6x's more to worry about with Bama LEO carrying a gun, than he does with me carrying a gun....

That's unreasonable.

What we're doing is reasonable. It literally costs $20 per year. If you qualify (meaning you can buy a gun from a licensed dealer) it literally cost $20 per year and you get your permit in about 5 to 10 minutes.

We offer a gun safety course and a marksmanship course. They're both free but it isn't required. We'll even zero your hunting rifles free of charge.

I don't need to stick to Alabama law. Florida just needed to get back to something entirely reasonable like what we offer...until 1/01/2023 at least.

Bama, this conversation began with me being glad that Ron was going to no permit Constitutional Carry, not with the price of permits in AL or in FL...

I encourage him to pause and see how it goes for those of us who have passed the legislation. JMO

I killed that pause with the fact that that Vermont has had Constitutional Carry since 1793, will it causing zero problems. And the fact that Alaska has had it since 2003, with 23 more states that have joined them in the last 2 decades with no problems so far.

Since then you have floundered around all over the place on permits and your safety by knowing when someone has a CCL. I also put that supposed safety issue to rest. Criminals don't have permits, and those with permits are 6x's less likely to commit a crime than police officers are....

Last chance on this topic.
Florida is going to Constitutional Carry before Ron leaves office, and sooner rather than later I hope, ending me ever having to renew mine again.... I'm hoping that they don't put in a CC permit that you have to pay to get, as some states do.... Florida should be a NO PERMIT state.
====

One supplement or correction. The initial cost is high in FL, but still only about 1/2 of what they originally cost when I got my first one in the late 1980's.
And my current permit is good for 7 years between renewals.

I remember how it started insta. And you only killed it in your mind. You offered an opinion and I offered a differing opinion. That's it.

Last chance on this topic? 😂

What does that even mean? I have no problem if we disagree. People do that with one another on the reg. I do have a problem with you stating Police are just being lazy because of how you might imagine it might be when you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

But you like the no permit. That's fine with me. I disagree.

Last chance was me being tired of our friendly disagreement, which seems to me like a total disconnect from the beginning.

Ron has no intention on pausing to see what Alabama does or the results of their CCL laws. --- Done.

Not all police are lazy thinkers imo, just the ones that believe that they are safer if they know if someone has a CCL or not.

I'm no more concerned with you having a problem with what you think I said or meant, than you were when your told me; "I bow to your superior skills as a LEO."
And I responded with "I also don't have to be a biologist to know what a woman is."

==========

And now, on to some general facts for anyone else that might be interested in the CCL topic.

Concealed Carry Permits by State:

1. Florida 2.143,213 - increased by over 300,000 since 2017
2. Texas 1.520,079 - increased by over 300,000 since 2017
When the Texas and Florida data is combined it shows that CCW permit holders are convicted of felonies and misdemeanors at a rate of 2.4 per 100,000. While among police the rate is 16.5 per 100,000 officers.

3. Penn 1.417,050 - increased by over 140,000 since 2017
4. GA 1,107,722
5. AL 1,085,404

No other states with over 1 Million CCL's
These figures do not take into account the 14 states where no permit is required:

==========

This is mostly directed at the Anit-Gun Nutts and the Socialist Rat gun grabbers:
Now, go check the murder rates in these stats with far less CCL's

ILL - 332,135
NY - 196,132
Cal - 120,582
NJ - 1,212

And then come back and tell where the Dodge City atmosphere is located and thriving? Those are also the states with some of the most stringent gun laws and restrictions.

CCW permit holders according to the statistics are unlikely to break the law. Remember there are over 16.3 million CCL holders in the US so any violations are very rare. In fact there are probably no other groups of people in the US who are as law abiding. If we compare concealed carry permit holders to the police we can see just how law abiding they really are.
CCL 1/6 of Police charged with crimes.

Welcome to the Ron DeSantis Round Up where we help you stay up-to-date with America's favorite Governor!
mail

From Wednesday, May 11, 2022 to Tuesday, May 17, 2022, Governor Ron DeSantis honored the men and women of Florida’s police force by lighting the Florida Capitol blue in recognition of National Police Week.

While Democrat-led states and cities ridicule and defund the police, Florida stands by those who risk their lives to keep our communities safe.

Watch this video to see 5 ways Governor DeSantis has made the Sunshine State the most pro-law enforcement state in the nation:

This week, Governor DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis announced $100 million in funding for Florida’s top cancer centers, a $37 million increase over the current budget.

“Cancer remains a leading cause of death in Florida, and we will continue to support those fighting this deadly disease. With this funding, cancer centers will continue their cutting-edge research and provide high quality care to patients. Our family is grateful for the care that the First Lady received during her cancer treatment this past year, and we want to make quality care available for all Floridians.” – Governor Ron DeSantis

The First Lady joined to offer her appreciation for the Governor’s unwavering support during her cancer battle. Watch here.

“He stood by me the entire time. Not only did he do that, he never missed a chemotherapy appointment. Six of those. Sitting in there, very uncomfortable. He held my hand through everything.” – First Lady Casey DeSantis
mail

Reiterating his commitment to expanding the state’s manufacturing base, this week, Governor DeSantis awarded $3.2 million to Okaloosa County through the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund. This investment will create nearly 4,000 new manufacturing jobs – which more than doubles the manufacturing jobs available in the area.

Governor DeSantis signed legislation this week which enhances penalties for the sale and distribution of opioids in Florida, including fentanyl.

“While the Biden administration has failed to stop the flow of dangerous drugs, including fentanyl, across our southern border, we are taking action in Florida to lower both the demand and the supply of illicit and illegal drugs.” - Governor Ron DeSantis

Also this week, First Lady Casey DeSantis held an assembly at a school in Kissimmee to heighten students’ understanding of the dangerous and life-altering effects of substance use and abuse.

“Our initiative, The Facts. Your Future., not only tells our youth to say no to drugs, but also teaches them why. I am proud of Governor DeSantis for signing into law enhanced penalties for the sale and distribution of opioids today. We’re committed to tackling this problem from all angles and striving for a drug free Florida.” - First Lady Casey DeSantis
mail

This National Nurses Month, Governor DeSantis announced $125 million to support nursing programs and education in Florida. Amid a national nursing shortage, these investments seek to improve access to nursing education. Part of the Governor’s message to future nurses is below:

“You will make a huge impact on a lot of people, particularly when they have difficult circumstances to deal with. They will always remember to have somebody there who was attentive and caring for them at some of their most vulnerable moments. So, I just want to say, on behalf of the state of Florida, thank you to all the nurses in our state for what you do.” – Governor Ron DeSantis
mail

During his first term, Governor DeSantis prioritized traveling to every county in Florida and meeting with Floridians from all walks of life. Last week, he visited his last two counties and officially visited all 67 Florida counties since taking the oath of office in 2019.

Ron has no intention on pausing to see what Alabama does or the results of their CCL laws. --- Done.

I offered an opinion man. I still have that same opinion fwiw.

Not all police are lazy thinkers imo, just the ones that believe that they are safer if they know if someone has a CCL or not.

You don't even know what you think you know. That's my problem with your position. Let me say it again...

WE ASSUME THAT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, ALWAYS.

What you have completely failed to grasp here is that more people will have concealed weapons as a result of this changing law...INCLUDING PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT CURRENTLY ALLOWED TO LEGALLY CARRY CONCEALED CARRY. If you are able to buy a gun private party, you will then become someone who can legally carry...even if you cannot legally buy a gun from a gun store (someone with a FFL).

Did you hear it that time? Before they couldn't legally do it. Now they will be able to.

In your learned opinion, will we encounter more or less guns after this law takes effect?

In your learned opinion, will we encounter more or less people with guns who can't legally buy from someone with an FFL?

An example of someone who can legally own a gun but cannot legally buy a gun from an FFL...

  1. Someone with an open DV case
  2. Someone who has a restraining order (Personal Protection Order) against them
  3. Someone with a pending violent felony case
  4. Someone who has been hospitalized against their will for mental health
  5. Someone who is a known abuser of drugs/alcohol
  6. Someone who has been dishonerably discharged from the military
  7. Someone who is an illegal alien
  8. Someone who has renounced their American citizenship
These are off the top of my head. If you think allowing these people to conceal carry legally doesn't put you and me both in more danger, I don't know what to tell you...other than you're just being stubborn.

I'm a Field Training Officer. I teach new LEO's how to be Deputies. I teach them how to stand when they can't see "the subject." I teach them how to stand when they can see them but they're more than 25' away from them and how to stand when they're inside that bubble and, most importantly, what their posture should be inside 6'.

I teach these men and women how to approach vehicles and how to egress away from them, EVERY TIME, even on seemingly insignificant traffic stops or calls for service. I teach them to watch hands because hands are what kill you. If these recruits don't get the above correct (and a bunch of other stuff that youve likely never considered), they don't get to be cops. Period.

But please, intimate that I'm a lazy cop again because I think knowing who is legally carrying is a good idea. What a dickish thing to say, really. Moreover, that's not even my main objection. Read below.

Finally, you made the point that people who have permits to carry concealed rarely commit crimes...and that is true. This new law let's an entirely new group carry and they don't necessarily fall into this same category.

Whether you agree or not, this law makes life for a cop more dangerous. You can disagree if you like...but you are flat out wrong and you don't even have the knowledge necessary to know why you're wrong even if you think you do.

CCW permit holders according to the statistics are unlikely to break the law. Remember there are over 16.3 million CCL holders in the US so any violations are very rare. In fact there are probably no other groups of people in the US who are as law abiding.

Excellent point...so why in the blue hell do you want to get rid of concealed carry permits? It's working. These people carry legally AND they don't break the law.

You want to add an entire new group to that group that aren't necessarily law abiding.

Look, I know I'm wasting my time. I've seen you argue with others and your mind is never changed...even if you know that you are wrong. You're the guy who has never been wrong on a message board. Congratulations.

Bama, Vermont since 1793. -- Alaska since 2005. -- and 23 more states since 2005....

I won't waste any more of my time, trying to explain what that means, to someone that already knows it all...

This week, Governor DeSantis announced the launch of the Florida Hometown Heroes Housing Program, designed to help Floridians in over 50 critical professions purchase their first home. The program is available to Floridians, including law enforcement officers, firefighters, educators, healthcare professionals, childcare employees, and active military or veterans.

“Our hometown heroes are the backbone of Florida communities and making sure that they can afford to be homeowners is a great way to give back to them and support the future of the American dream.” – Governor Ron DeSantis

For the third quarter in a row, overall visitation to Florida exceeded pre-pandemic levels. From January to March of this year, an estimated 36 million people vacationed in the Sunshine State – almost a 40% increase over last year.

“Economists originally projected that Florida tourism wouldn’t fully recover until 2024. Florida’s visitation numbers continue to break records and defy conventional wisdom. Florida’s tourism industry begins 2022 with incredible strength, proving that freedom first policies will always win.” – Governor Ron DeSantis

Honoring Our Nation's Military And Praying For Uvalde, Texas

Dear Neighbor,
As we head into Memorial Day Weekend, I'd like to pay special tribute to our nation's men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces. Throughout the month of May I have been fortunate to attend various memorials and service events honoring our heroes across the United States, as well as those right here at home in Florida's Third Congressional District. To the families of our fallen, our veterans, and all actively in uniform who so courageously defend our freedoms, thank you for all that you do.
Additionally, I'd like to take a moment to recognize everyone affected by the tragedy that took place in Uvalde, Texas this week. My heart absolutely breaks for the families of the children and teachers taken way too soon. This senseless violence by an evil, sick individual took innocent lives, and I join the millions of Americans praying for these families whose lives have changed forever. May God comfort and protect these grieving families going through this unimaginable tragedy.
With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on Twitter , Facebook , Instagram , and YouTube .

Honoring Our Nation's Heroes During Military Appreciation Month

Image

This month, my team and I salute all of the men and women of our U.S. Armed Forces who work tirelessly to protect our nation at home and abroad. Our heroes in uniform make the ultimate sacrifice in service of defending our citizens and our freedoms, and we're forever grateful for the highest form of courage and bravery the members of our military exemplify around the world.
As Memorial Day approaches on Monday, I invite you to keep those we've lost in your thoughts, and I hope you'll join me in thanking our heroes for all they do.

Discussing Federal Judge's Ruling On End Of Title 42

Image

Late last week, I joined the Evening Edit on Fox Business to discuss a federal judge's recent ruling that blocks the Biden administration from lifting Title 42, the public health order used to quickly expel migrants in preventing the spread of communicable diseases in the country. Almost one-quarter of a million immigrants were apprehended at our southern border in April—the highest number since the Biden Border Crisis began. If Title 42 ends, this number will only grow, threatening our national security and communities across the country.

Recognizing National Poppy Day

Image

Today marks National Poppy Day, a day to recognize the service and sacrifice of Americans who have served our nation and those who have died in the line of duty. The poppy, which grew abundantly in European fields during World War I, became the symbol for the American Legion in honoring the brave men and women who have fought for the Stars and Stripes. Each year, members of the American Legion Family distribute poppy flowers across the nation to honor the fallen and support the living who have worn our nation's uniform.
On this day, I'm proud to wear a poppy in honoring the sacrifice our men and women in uniform make everyday.

Delivering Books To Lake Butler Elementary School With 'Read To Lead' Program

Image

Late last week, I visited Lake Butler Elementary School in Union County to deliver books from the Library of Congress Book Surplus Program to first and third graders. Along with books donated to their classrooms, the students each got to take a book home for their own libraries, emphasizing the importance of reading and learning for a lifetime of success. We're so excited to see the Read To Lead program growing. You can watch a short video of my visit here .
If you're a teacher or parent in Florida's Third Congressional District interested in learning more about our program, visit our website at the button below to submit your (child's) classroom.

Attending The Blue Star By-Way Marker Ceremony

Image

This past Saturday, members of Team Kat attended the Garden Club of Middleburg's Blue Star By-Way Marker Ceremony. The marker honors the men and women of our Armed Forces and the Blue Star Highway System, which began after World War II as a living memorial to veterans with dogwood trees planted along our nation's highways .The "small but mighty" Middleburg Garden Club will carry on this tradition and share their patriotism with the rest of the Clay County community.

Honoring Hometown Hero Ssg. Seth Plant

Image

On Monday, Team Kat attended a procession in Bradford County for one of FL-03's own hometown heroes, Ssg. Seth Michael Plant. Thousands lined the streets through downtown Starke, Penney Farms, and Green Cove Springs to pay their respects to Seth, son of Mike and Joy Plant, who was born and raised in Starke before moving to St. Augustine and enlisting in the Army.
Ssg. Plant was tragically killed while stationed with the U.S. Army in Alaska on May 10. There is not a more fitting tribute of Seth's life and his love for his home than this touching, final procession through his favorite place. Rest in peace, Staff Sergeant. Our community will never forget you.

Celebrating The Grand Opening For The Harbor Deepening Project At JAXPORT

Image

On Monday morning at Jacksonville Port Authority, we celebrated the ribbon-cutting and grand opening for the harbor deepening project at the Blount Island Terminal. The project deepened 11 miles of the federal shipping channel to a depth of 47 feet form its previous depth of 40 feet. Florida continues to lead the way for maritime transportation as and I'm grateful for the work and investment in this project, which will only create more opportunities to strengthen our supply chain and make the Sunshine State a top destination for domestic and international destinations.

Celebrating The Grand Opening Of The UF Veterinary Hospital At The World Equestrian Center
Image

On Thursday, my team and I had the great opportunity to stop by the grand opening preview of the UF Veterinary Hospital at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala! This new 40,000 square foot hospital offers state-of-the-art care for equine and small animal care, allowing animal owners from Ocala and the surrounding area to benefit from increased access to care during a time of high demand. It was so great to see this wonderful partnership between UF and WEC, and I'm proud to represent both the Gator Nation and the World Equestrian Center in Florida's Third Congressional District.

Nancy Pelosi just donated $10,000 to defeat Governor DeSantis this November. This is only the beginning of the support liberals in Washington will throw behind the Democrat Machine in Florida to defeat Governor DeSantis.

The mob-mom just wasted $10,000 because it's going to be Ron by an avalanch, and Florida has election laws that will prevent the Rat election steal....

From Ron: Florida's gubernatorial election is 159 days away. With the Biden administration continuing to whittle away at our freedoms day after day, it can feel excruciating to have to wait so long to make our voices heard.

We cannot allow the Biden administration's failed policies to be imported into Florida. Below are two actionable steps you can take right now to stand with Governor DeSantis and show your support for his freedom first agenda:
1. Donate to Ron's campaign.
2. Get to the polls and vote.

Governor DeSantis applauded the Special Olympics for dropping their vaccine mandate on athletes.
“Your rights or your freedoms should not be circumscribed by your decision to take or not take a COVID vaccine.” – Governor Ron DeSantis

On Thursday, Governor DeSantis signed the state’s Freedom First Budget for the Fiscal Year 2022-2023. The budget prioritizes the freedoms of Floridians to live, work, and have successful businesses in the state. The budget totals $109.9 billion and includes a record $1.24 billion in tax relief for Floridians.

On June 1st, Governor DeSantis announced more than $3 million in awards to military communities in Florida. These newly established programs grant funding to defense-dependent communities to support economic diversification efforts, local infrastructure projects, and military community relations.

“I am proud to continue making investments in Florida’s military communities and upholding my administration’s commitment to keeping Florida the most military-friendly state in the nation. In Florida, we value those who protect and serve our nation and the sacrifices that their families make. That is why we work to provide tangible support that enhances the lives and communities of service members for generations to come.” – Governor Ron DeSantis

Governor DeSantis rejects false narratives propagated by the Left every single day. In this week’s mic drop moment, the Governor blasts Brandon directly for his abysmal performance. Watch here.

Fellow Patriots,

You hear all the time there is a lot on the line in November, but I’ll keep it simple. This election boils down to one thing: freedom.

While other states were locking people down, Florida was lifting people up. In Florida, during the pandemic, we had a Governor who held the line and stood strong in defense of the rights of the people.

Floridians kept their right to earn a living, to breathe, to send their kids to school, and to see their loved ones, all without fear of government lockdowns or mandates.

Because Florida stood strong and led, the rest of the nation had an example to follow.

Florida has, and still does, represent the shining light on the hill to the world. It confirmed that the idea of America is still alive and well.

So, this November, when you vote…

You’re voting for freedom.
You’re voting because you believe your rights emanate from God, not government.
You’re voting for education, not indoctrination.
You’re voting for parents’ rights.
You’re voting for the rule of law.
And you’re voting to tell corporate media to take a hike!

If we turn out this election the way I know we can, we will continue to KEEP FLORIDA FREE! Are you with us? Pledge your support NOW!

Sincerely,
Casey DeSantis

Brandon Tatum says during lockdown/shutdown, white people haters such as AOC(with white boyfriend and his out of style sandals) and other libtards escaped to Florida. He also mentioned Don Lemon(accompanied by his white husband) got caught with his companion not wearing a mask.

The Left can’t handle how well the Free Republic of Florida is doing. In fact, they HATE it.

I was invited to speak at the Jewish Leadership Conference this weekend in New York to share the success of Florida’s blueprint for protecting religious freedom.

Apparently, this was too much for New York politicians and Leftists to handle. They tried to pressure the venue and CANCEL the event.

I went on undeterred. I told the packed crowd, “They tried to cancel me. But here I stand.”

Let me be clear: I will never back down or cave to the woke mob.

The more the Left tries to silence, demonize, and cancel our freedom-first movement, the stronger it will become.

PLEDGE YOUR SUPPORT >>>

Thousands of New Yorkers have fled to the Sunshine State in the last year to enjoy the freedom we’ve created in Florida.

The bottom line is: freedom wins.

No matter how loud the woke mob may be, they simply cannot override the desire for freedom.

And I promise you, as long as I am your Governor…

I will not back down.
I will not be intimidated.
I will fight for you.
And I will Keep Florida Free.
Are you with me?

Thank you for your continued support,

Florida has surpassed Governor DeSantis’s four-year conservation goal with a total investment of more than $3.3 billion for Everglades restoration and the protection of water resources since 2019. The Governor also announced the veto of Senate Bill 2508, which aimed to place additional regulatory hurdles on the South Florida Water Management District.

“Protecting Florida’s natural resources has been a top priority since my first day in office… I am committed to leaving our natural resources better than we found them so that future generations can experience what brings people from around the world to our state.” — Governor Ron DeSantis

Reports this week showed the Biden administration’s intent to deny funding for school lunch programs to states that don’t teach transgender ideology to students. Governor DeSantis reiterated his commitment to keeping radical ideology out of Florida public school classrooms.

“We’re prepared for what Biden throws our way… Part of it are intentionally destructive policies like trying to deny school lunch programs for states that don’t do transgender ideology in the schools. I mean, give me a break, totally off his rocker to be doing that… We’re prepared to be able to defend the taxpayers and the hard-working people in the state of Florida and I couldn’t be prouder for doing that.” — Governor Ron DeSantis

Governor DeSantis joined Florida's newest resident, Dave Rubin, for an event at the Plaza Live in Orlando. You can watch some notable moments from the event below.

Florida’s mamas are the backbone of our families and communities. They are on the forefront of fighting for their families’ well-being, safety, and prosperity. Thankfully, in Florida, we have a pro-family leader who understands this.

My husband, Governor Ron DeSantis, is the most pro-family Governor in America. He has spent the past three and a half years enacting policies and leading our state with Florida families in mind.

Unfortunately, poor policies emanating from Washington present a direct threat to the well-being of families. This is exemplified by the baby formula shortage, high gas prices, unsafe communities, attacks on our education system, and mounting inflation that rivals the Carter years.

That is why we are launching the Mamas for DeSantis initiative. We are creating the largest movement in Florida history to mobilize a million moms committed to re-electing Governor DeSantis. You know this as well as I do, mamas are a force to be reckoned with. When outside factors threaten our families’ safety or well-being, mamas fight back.

This army of moms know that Governor DeSantis has their back and is fighting every day for the future of their families. Join Mamas for DeSantis as we fight to Keep Florida Free for generations to come!

Visit MamasForDeSantis.com and see how you can get involved and be part of our million Mamas on a Mission.

Sincerely,
Casey DeSantis

Governor Ron DeSantis is the most pro-freedom Governor in America. Under his leadership, Florida has become THE freest state in the United States.

Despite relentless attacks from the Biden administration and their smear merchant allies in the legacy media, Governor DeSantis has never wavered in his fight to Keep Florida Free.

When kids were forced into virtual learning, Governor DeSantis ensured Florida students were in school, in-person, five days a week.

When businesses were forced to shutter their doors, Governor DeSantis ensured Florida businesses were allowed to freely operate so employees could support their families.

When churches were banned from meeting, Governor DeSantis ensured Florida churches were open at a time when people needed them most.

Through it all, Governor DeSantis has preserved freedom in Florida.

This has made him the radical Left’s #1 target this November. They seek power and control over your life, but they know Governor DeSantis is standing in their way.

He will never give up the fight to ensure that future generations of Floridians get to enjoy the freedom he has worked to protect.

To help Florida’s hardworking students, Governor DeSantis expanded eligibility requirements for the Bright Futures Scholarship Program to include paid work experience. This expansion will allow students who work after school jobs to apply their paid work contributions to their communities to substitute service hour requirements. "Students no longer have to choose between supporting their families and gaining volunteer hours for scholarship funding,” the First Lady tweeted about the announcement .

Florida’s First Lady Casey DeSantis is on a mission to mobilize a million mamas committed to re-electing the most pro-family Governor in America: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

The First Lady kicked off the Mamas for DeSantis campaign with a statewide listening tour meeting with mamas in the Panhandle, Jacksonville, Hillsborough County, Boca Raton, and Miami-Dade. Florida mamas want a brighter future for their children and grandchildren. They know that Governor DeSantis is fighting for the same thing.

See how you can get involved with Mamas for DeSantis by visiting MamasForDeSantis.com.

Starting July 1, Floridians will enjoy “Freedom Week” thanks to the leadership of America's Governor. Freedom Week will serve as a sales tax holiday to provide tax breaks on a wide range of recreational activities and outdoor gear, just in time for summer!

DeSantis’ ‘Stop WOKE Act’ faces court test as universities become targets. At issue: free speech

6lvh59.jpg

TALLAHASSEE – Gov. Ron DeSantis’ “Stop WOKE Act” is facing its first federal court test after weeks of being celebrated by the political right for restricting race-based teaching and training in schools, universities and workplaces.

But not all conservatives are lined up behind the Republican governor.

A civil liberties organization, which has sided with Florida Republicans in the past on campus speech issues, is among those now condemning DeSantis’ approach.

“It’s intended to chill speech,” said Adam Steinbaugh, an attorney with the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE). “The entire point of the new law is to set out certain categories or concepts that the state disdains and says you can’t introduce.”

Much of the debate over “Stop WOKE” has centered on public schools and businesses.

But the law may be the most significant among several measures DeSantis signed that put his imprint on higher education in Florida, not only restricting speech but also adding new limits on tenure for Florida professors and changes to how public colleges and universities are accredited.

Draft legislation shaped by the governor’s office also suggests that DeSantis may want even more control over faculty hiring at colleges and universities if he wins reelection in November, heightening anxiety in Florida and across the nation’s higher ed community.

“People in hiring positions are telling us they’re hearing from professors in other states who question, ‘What’s the political environment like on your campus?’” said Andrew Gothard, president of the United Faculty of Florida, a union representing 25,000 members across the state.

“They’re wondering if government is going to keep them from doing their jobs or research. Clearly, based on these kinds of questions, there’s a narrative and concerns about working in Florida,” Gothard said.

While Stop Woke may be the latest battleground, the nonprofit FIRE has fought restrictions on campus speech in Florida before. But then it was with the support of conservatives.

Conservatives once hailed free speech

FIRE, which receives funding from several conservative foundations, supported a 2018 law signed by then-Republican Gov. Rick Scott intended to eliminate “free speech zones” on Florida campuses, a move hailed by conservative lawmakers who felt these zones were being used to quarantine right-leaning speakers.

That measure gained added focus because it was seen as opening more campuses to the political right. It emerged shortly after protests rocked the University of Florida ahead of a speech by white nationalist Richard Spencer, a leader of 2017’s neo-Nazi torchlight parade in Charlottesville, Va.

FIRE, though, has broken with Florida Republicans over “Stop WOKE” because, Steinbaugh said, it hammers speech suppression into Florida law.

“For conservatives who think this is a good idea and that maybe these topics or concepts should be verboten in higher education, I’d say, consider what a legislature in a left-leaning state might do with the authority to say which subjects are true or false, or can or can’t be discussed,” Steinbaugh said. “It’s a Pandora’s box that you don’t want to open.”

FIRE is asking Florida universities to narrowly interpret the new law, set to take effect July 1. It also has reached out to faculty members possibly ahead of a lawsuit if educators feel their ability to discuss areas of expertise is limited by the new speech restrictions.

Lawsuit pinned to First Amendment

But a federal lawsuit seeking to overturn the measure is already slated for its first hearing Tuesday before U.S. District Judge Mark Walker in Tallahassee. The challenge was filed by the Jacksonville firm of Sheppard, White, Kachergus, DeMaggio & Wilkison, known for its civil rights work.

Plaintiffs include a pair of high school teachers, a professor at the University of Central Florida, and a soon-to-be kindergartner from Nassau County. They’re asking Walker to stop the law from going into effect. FIRE is not among the plaintiffs.

Along with violating free speech rights guaranteed under the U.S. constitution, the lawsuit claims the Stop Woke law gives the state power to “arbitrarily decide what speech is prohibited and what speech is permitted.”

“As such, plaintiffs have every reason to believe that these vague standards can and will be used to silence speech on these topics with which Florida’s GOP politicians disagree,” the lawsuit said.

Attorneys for DeSantis and Attorney General Ashley Moody have countered by arguing that First Amendment issues are not at play. Instead, “public school curriculum set by elected officials is government speech,” that earlier court decisions have said can be regulated.

“The in-class instruction offered by state-employed educators is also pure government speech, not the speech of the educators themselves,” the state argues in defending the law.

What ‘Stop WOKE’ restricts

“Stop WOKE” was approved in March, mostly along party-lines in the Republican-led Legislature. It prohibits any teaching that could make students feel they bear personal responsibility for historic wrongs because of their race, color, sex or national origin.

It also blocks businesses from using diversity practices or training that could make employees feel guilty for similar reasons. Anyone offended could sue an institution or individual, arguing their civil rights were violated by being made subject to such instruction.

Universities also could lose state funding.

Speaking at a charter school in Hialeah Gardens when he signed the law in April, DeSantis condemned “pernicious ideologies” like critical race theory, which examines the role racial discrimination has played in shaping American history and modern society.

He also blistered the media, “elites,” “leftists” and Stacey Abrams, the Democratic candidate for governor in Georgia.

While the measure earned its nickname when DeSantis termed it the “Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees Act,” the Legislature settled on a simpler title, calling it the “Individual Freedom Act.”

DeSantis picks his targets

DeSantis, though, embraced the attack on “woke,” which found its place in his policy agenda that included a move to strip Disney World of its special tax district because of its parent company’s opposition to another priority of the governor, the parental rights legislation opponents branded “Don’t Say Gay.”

“In Florida, we will not let the far-left woke agenda take over our schools and workplaces,” DeSantis said. “There is no place for indoctrination or discrimination in Florida.”

DeSantis clearly views higher education as a big target for change.

United Faculty of Florida has already sued the governor over “intellectual freedom” surveys being distributed to faculty, students and employees at colleges and universities that the union sees
aimed at stifling open discussions on campuses.

The annual surveys, approved under a law last year, are to be analyzed by university and college leaders in a report scheduled to be released in September.

This year, DeSantis signed new legislation that could make it more difficult for faculty to retain tenure, which has been a standard at universities since the 1940s. Tenure was enacted to blunt political interference and give faculty freedom to discuss and research controversial topics without fear of dismissal.

But DeSantis has condemned what he termed “lifetime appointments” for professors, adding he wants to “make sure the faculty are held accountable.”

Critics say political payback at play

The law also requires universities to periodically change accreditation agencies every five to 10 years.

That provision was viewed by critics as retaliation by DeSantis after the current agency used by most schools criticized the University of Florida for attempting to deny two professors from testifying as expert witnesses in a voting rights lawsuit.

The agency also cautioned Florida State University during its presidential search when the governor’s former Education Commissioner, Richard Corcoran, was an applicant.

Yet even with these changes, DeSantis appears to want more.

A 70-page proposal drafted by Republican lawmakers at the governor’s request and obtained by the news site, Seeking Rents, outlined plans for giving university boards of trustees – heavily influenced by DeSantis – faculty-hiring authority, taking it away from school presidents.

Similarly, the proposal would give the university system’s Board of Governors, whose members are mostly governor appointees, power to investigate university presidents, fire employees, review existing degree programs and veto budgets.

The measure never made it past the concept stage. But many think it shows what may be in store for colleges and universities in a DeSantis second term.

“We’re at a tipping point right now,” said Gothard of United Faculty. “We have a Legislature and a governor who are taking their time to attack groups and individuals who disagree with their political ideology.”

😂 🤣 😂 😂 🤣 😂 😂 🤣 😂

The Socialist NEA traitors, and especially the tenured (incompetent) professors at the Socialist-U's, really hate it when their own long time tactics are turned around and used against them.

I'll be happy to just leave it to the Sovereign Citizens of Florida to decide who they want in Tallahassee to represent their desires, needs, and goals.

“In Florida, we will not let the far-left woke agenda take over our schools and workplaces,” DeSantis said. “There is no place for indoctrination or discrimination in Florida.”
