Just think about this...

I simply cannot see how anyone believes this UNLESS they also believe the 2020 election was fair and legal.

That's not an accusation, I'm just trying to make this make sense in my head.

Hiden has overseen the worst economy since the late 70s. That alone would likely make it impossible for him to win a free and fair election against any pub candidate with a pulse.

Instead, the pubs are running the most popular candidate in party history...and you think he's LIKELY TO LOSE????

Again, not accusing, but this makes zero sense. UNLESS.....you believe the 2020 election was free and fair. Then it fits.

Obviously that's not what happened, thus the confusion.

A few things...

When I said that Trump might be less likely to win, I wasn't necessarily referring to a free and fair election.

And yes, I absolutely believe that F-ery is more likely and more prominent from the left if Trump is the opposition. They would clearly be more motivated to cheat vs Trump.

That doesn't mean that we should give in "or they'll cheat." It was more a recognition of the possibility.

Next point, obviously Trump is very polarizing. Those who support him love him more than your average DeSantis voter loves DeSantis. OTOH those who hate him hate him more than the average DeSantis hater hates DeSantis. That equals motivation.

Lastly the middle is more likely to support DeSantis than Trump. And given the disaster that is the Biden administration, that's probably enough. I'm less confident that will be the case with Trump.

You can say we don't want the middle and the RINO's and I get your point...but we absolutely need those votes. And IMO we need the votes for a convincing win to make any possible cheating that much more difficult.

I'm not trying to convince you...rather explaining my position.

Is he?

He's up by 50 points. How is that polarizing?

He's on pace to win Florida against the most popular governor in America.

I think we are being told by the media, left and RINOs that Trump is pissing people off and he needs to tone it down.

But in real world data, I'm not seeing anything that confirms this. If anything Trump is even more popular today than he was in 2020.

I told you. Polls that have him up by 50 points.

And 538 has Hiden at +12.4% unfavorable right now:

Real world data shows Trump is up 50 points on the Republican field, and 5-7 points on Hiden. It also shows that he's more popular than Hiden.

Media is trying to buffalo you guys. Hiden is the one that's polarizing. Trump is just popular AF.

Fair enough but not a moderate...rather a moderate as compared to Trump. Those are two different things.

And like me, his campaign might believe that Trump is VERY likely to win the nomination but much less likely to win the general.

While some of you might think that RDS has turned into a RINO, I disagree. I think the idea was to market himself as a more reasonable alternative to Trump that still retained the parts we like. Again, it hasn't worked...but I believe that was the strategy.
It appears he has surrounded himself with the people who helped him win Florida Gov race (not named Trump). Still waiting to see how involved the establishment is. That is the kiss of death if he really wants tro go that direction.

Remember the polling leading up to the 2016 election? They had Trump down very close to double digits. That was NOT a mistake, rather an attempt to make EVERYONE believe he could not win. The people who do not pay attention to detail fall for this garbage EVERY time. It makes it easier for them to lie, cheat ans more importantly..STEAL elections.

Anyone that thinks Trump isn't polarizing is high AF.

Yea, that comment shooketh me. If we can't agree on that then I'm not sure it's worth having the rest of the debate.

And polarizing isn't even necessarily a bad thing...but it does come with its own set of realities. I personally don't think it's helpful when you have to win an election but in leadership in general, not a bad quality.

Bingo. Media is simply shaping narratives. It's sad how everyone here is like 'Oh I know the media is FOS, I don't listen to them!', then they turn around and repeat the same talking points the media is feeding.

I mean, to a degree it makes sense, if you hear the same talking points from the media 24/7 and really don't have a vested interest in caring about the validity of what they are saying, then it's easy to just accept their talking point as fact.

If Trump was really hated by half the country, he would be polling at about 2% right now. Being up by 50 points ON THE ENTIRE FIELD proves he's popular AF.

We gotta get better about critical thinking.

My point is, if Trump is really as polarizing as the media would have us believe, how is he up by 50 points over the entire republican field?

You think it's a lie that Trump is polarizing?

And as proof you offer Trump's popularity within the Republican party?

I don't know where to go with this brother. I don't know how to have this debate...at least not productively.

All candidates are polarizing.

The media would have us believe that half the country is Never Trumper. That's a complete lie.

Let's try this: Let's say every newspaper in Alabama was bought by an Auburn grad. And those Auburn grads all got together and decided to launch a campaign in their papers about how Nick Saban is a toxic asshole and he's turning off recruits and parents of recruits should go to a school that doesn't have a toxic asshole as a coach.

Every paper in the state starts writing about how Saban is a toxic asshole and no amount of winning is worth that.

After hearing that beat into your head every day for months, I'm betting after a while you might think to yourself "Ya know....I never really realized how toxic Saban really is. Didn't think about how it could impact recruiting!"

And all your Bama buddies will be talking to you about this as well. Over time, you will start to change your opinion about Saban.

That's just human nature.

Same thing with Trump. Media has a concerted effort to create narratives about Trump.

We gotta be smart enough to reject them.

Is Trump polarizing? Yes.

Is he anywhere close to as polarizing as the media claims?

I dunno man....up 50 points on the entire field tells me he's not.

I spent a lot of time on my Auburn grads newspaper analogy for you to shit on it to kiss up to the media and trolls that hate me.

I'm taking a nap, you peasants clearly don't deserve me.

Ghost, all I said was that he's polarizing. You agree that he's polarizing.

Neither of us agree with the MSM on the evils of Trump. I've never said I have and for damn sure you haven't.

I wasn't kissing up on anyone. You read something into what I said that wasn't there...or at the very least wasn't intended.

Again, if you want to say Trump is polarizing, fine. But it doesn't make sense to say Trump is polarizing, while ignoring that there are OTHER political figures and CANDIDATES who are MORE polarizing.

It's like saying Trump is old. Ok, and why are we singling Trump out?

Going by the above data, we could say Pence, Cruz, McCarthy and Bernie are just as polarizing as Trump. And AOC, Hiden, Hillary, Kamala, Schumer and Manchin are MORE hated than Trump.

But what's the media talking points? No one is more hated than Trump! No one is more polarizing than Trump!

But the real world data shows that's wrong. Which was all I ever said.

Again, this is how the media shapes narratives. Don't fall for it.

You do realize that I never said this and that I never kissed up on it or parroted it, right?

The Biden administration is absolutely polarizing. Do I think Biden is? Meh...he's as polarizing as pudding.

He has no real thoughts or beliefs. He stands for absolutely nothing. He can be moved off of anything because the man has never had any principles.

Now that he's senile he's even less polarizing.

As I said, as a leadership quality, polarizing isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Sigh. I don't care about you saying Trump is polarizing. Of course he's polarizing.

My point is, why look at a group of 10 polarizing politicians, and say one of them is polarizing?

Because that's the media narrative. My point isn't dont attack Trump, my point is let's not fall for the media narrative.

If you don't think you are and you think I'm just mad cause you said something mean about Trump, then you're right, nothing productive can come from this.

It was a joke.

We were talking about Trump and DeSantis, right? I was saying that DeSantis is trying to angle himself as a moderate as compared to Trump. That was my take...i.e. my opinion.

I wasn't looking at a group of 10 politicians and then calling out Trump. That's something you've just made up in your head.

You were talking about Trump and DeSantis in that same post, but I didn't respond to that, I responded to you saying that Trump was polarizing.

My point was he's not as polarizing as the media makes him out to be.

He's not as hated as the media makes him out to be.

If all the things the media says about Trump were true, he would have never made it past the first caucus in 2016.

That was my point.

Fair enough...but I was talking about those two.

No wait...I'm going to channel my inner @kalimgoodman and demand an apology. 😂

Why do you always gang up on me? 🤣

I think that site lists the pollsters, along with their funding sources.

If you meant "who has an unfavorable opinion of Trump?" that would be most people who live in large cities and their surrounding suburbs, college graduates, and non-white people.
Everyone loves Trump. Media is lying to you ffs.

It was the university polls, for the most part, skewing the total.

That’s the correct answer to my question.
