Richt was a good coach though. Especially at the start of his tenure. The only reason he doesn't have a NC or two is bad luck and the fact that he had to beat Saban in the SEC Championship game.

Doubt that has anything to do with it. I would have taken Bowden at UF in a heartbeat. If FSU had a guy like Peterson or Kelly or Patterson I'd want them at UF too. Jimbo recruits better than all but 1 school in the country. Do you think his results have been consistent with that?

- mediocre OC
- mediocre game day coach

But when you have the level of talent FSU has #3 or #4 doesn't matter as much. But #3 or #4 is also why FSU seemingly manages to lose to a team they have no business losing to more times than not.

You may be right about 3 and 4. He is still a young head coach however and he may get better there. I would say that if he can win another NC in the next 3-4 years 3 and 4 don't matter as you said. Only time will tell. But honestly I have had "head scratching" moments with his play calling at times. But what do I know!?!?

oozie, I respect your thoughts as a former player and as a poster. That said if Nick Saban thinks Jimbo is the best OC he has ever had I think that equates to better than mediocre. I am sure there are better out there but that is pretty high praise coming from a guy who knows a thing or two about football. Jimbo is 5 years in as a HC. I think he has room for improvement but he is a top 5-7 guy to have running your team in college imo.

I don't see Jimbo as the type of coach that would bring a Cinderella team into the post season like a Marshall, Houston, NIU, etc. At least not without a stellar staff (like what Dabo has).

I would not be OK with Fisher as a position coach. Saban's quote aside, his stints as OC at LSU and FSU were not all that great.
