What's the timeline, who are the central figures of the Jaden Rashada-Florida saga?

Is the Rashada situation a one-off misstep, or have the Gators completely flubbed their first swing at NIL?

85 Guys are getting a full ride college scholarship, worth hundreds of thousands of dollars at UF in tuition, medical, housing, meals, top quality physical development, etc, and eventually a college degree.
If they claim that's not being PAID, then they are completely out of touch with reality.

Only a very small percentage will ever make it to the big contracts NFL.
Only a small percentage in college will ever get any of the NIL money.
But is seems to me that the small percentage might be fudging it up for the vast majority eventually.

Those that get the big NIL bucks, should have to pay their own way to college, minus all of those previously supplied freebee's...
While the vast majority that are not getting the NIL can still get their ship privilege freebees.

And if you're getting the big NIL money, then you don't qualify for the xfer with 'no 1 year sit-out' privileges. You could still xfer, but you'd have to sit-out.

It says that the collective knew it didn’t have the money but was counting on help from big boosters from the other collective, I forget the name but they mention the specific guy.

It says Rojas (the collective’s head I think) sent a letter terminating the deal when it became clear they didn’t have the money (I’m not sure if it was before signing day).

It says this led to conversations between Stricklin and others in the UA with the collective, trying to save the deal.

It quotes a source in the UA on Jan 11 saying that Rashada is gone and everyone in the UA was panicking.

Says Rashada is talking about suing to enforce the original contract and the collective was offering him a “7 figure settlement” that would keep him at UF.

Says Rashada has been contacted by the NCAA regarding his “NIL experience.”

The termination was Dec. 7, before signing day. Obviously Rashada’s LOI was the last one received on Dec 23.

What makes that a total joke if there was any truth to it is that the collective has what like 500k in its name? It's the Gator Guard setup that has the big booster funding behind it.

If any real contract was done it was just that Rojas guy being drunk or something promising crap.

I am more inclined to belive part of the problem here is this kid signed something with Ruiz he wants to dump on us now with how smug Ruiz says he isn't able to comment on Rashada's situation.

The one guy is already being forced out for being drunk and talking mess on Discord I heard but the Collective doesn't even have money like that. If he made promises he couldn't keep he must have thought the big boosters would give it to him later to do it. My guess is there is nothing in writing where the big boosters agreed to that.

I would think so unless he was able to sign somewhere the beginning of next week or so. Hopefully this kid is the beginning of some pushback on this nonsense. Let him out of his letter and good riddance.

I doubt it myself unless I see that contract signed by the parties showing the numbers which could be shown without affecting the case legally in any court proceedings.

I think you might be wrong about him having an enforceable contract he could win a court case over. We will probably find out the real deal pretty soon. A lot of spin out there right now.

Fun fact: I did my junior year of high school in Tombstone, AZ and while playing basketball for them we actually played Winslow, AZ in the State playoffs. Everytime that song comes on I think about that, haha.

I'm still withholding judgment on Billy being successful here but I'll say this so far: his NIL game has been behind the curve and sucks so far.

Regardless of program rehab, facilities, development, etc - if you can't get this kid's type of talent on campus consistently, he won't make it. And NIL is a huge part of any top 50 kid's equation.

You can recruit at the 2nd tier level and win championships however you HAVE to get this type of QB to make that work. Otherwise, we'll be stuck in a top-end win total of about 9-10/year and continue to lose the top 2 games every year - that's assuming we get back to that level lol.
