In before the gun confiscation NUTS.....

What are they?
Fair question.

The principle of the second amendment

"Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home."

From a practical lens, I am worried that the government, criminals, illegals, etc. may wish to push into my home and that with the threat (or actual carry) of weapons, that is FAR less likely to happen.

The Covid-19 lockdowns and mandates, show how close we came to actually pushing into people's homes and politicians were like "oops".

Self-defense and deterrent against the authoritarian motion. Simple and clear.

For Concealed Carry, practically, why do I need to walk around downtown Nashville, Holland, MI, Chicago, Gary, IN, Midtown Manhattan, SF, etc. with a concealed gun? If I need that, then I have no issue in background checks, being regulated, etc. My issue is less about myself, but the other person. What other person with issues such as this person, may have a gun and if I should as look at the person that the way s/he feels is "offensive", then they could pull the gun on me - in public. Yes, I want that regulated.

There is also an electoral consideration to this. Independents, may not choose to have a gun, but they can understand the "why" and preservation of the Right. Having guns on Madison avenue - then you have a vigilante, or worse, dynamic. Hard to persuade the middle on this. Very hard.

I don't know how accurate the specific data is but the FBI states that whatever a LEO is able to shoot during qualifying, you can expect that officer to shoot about 20% of that under the stress of an actual shooting.

So if you shoot a 90 on the range, you'll hit your target with about 18% of your shots in a real life situation. That is unbelievably scary. And remember, we're responsible for each of those rounds. 🫣

I do think training can mitigate some of that. I pray to God that I'm right.
The training he doesn't isn't on a typical range and is done outdoors. I'm not sure exactly how it's set up but it's probably similar to the friend or foe stuff you are familiar with an enhanced reality factor built in. I'll have to ask him. Typically he goes out of state for training clinics and it's for 2 or 3 days of training. Whether that is for several different classes of trainees or extended for just one class I have no idea. He's not cheap.

Interesting.

We don't have an indoor range and that's by design. We shoot in the elements because we work in the elements.

One of the trainings we do in an advanced school is that you have to hit a target while you're being shot with simunition rounds. That sounds easier than it actually is. It feels like you're being stung by hornets.

My neighbor in Jax is retired but still does some shooting training classes for LEOs in situations under stress. Some of things he's told me are amazing. He's said more than once even experienced officers will choke and miss a target at 5 yards repeatedly.
I have been in a situation as a kid where I had a loaded gun in my hand when someone was trying to break in to our house. I was 13. It was AMAZING how everything slowed down. EVERYTHING my Dad taught me ran through my mind (but they were things that made me REALLY think about whether or not I should shoot this person or not, and it froze me up a bit) Let me set the stage as to why a 13 yr old had a gun beside his bed. We owned a BIG Restaurant and bar. HUGE cask flow every day, and our home was attached to the Bar. Several times people would come up to our home after midnight and try to get in. One time was just different. I heard the screen door open VERY slowly, as someone was trying to be quiet. (I thought it MAY be my Dad....but it was just different than when he opened the door) Then I heard the door knob clinking...cha chink cha chink cha chink. I grabbed the gun and walked toward the door...heart POUNDING. This is when everything slowed WAY down, and all my Dads training came to my mind. "Never EVER pull a trigger unless you 100% KNOW who you are going to shoot...do not shoot thorough a door, a wall unless you KNOW who you are shooting at." A bullet can never come back after it is fired....if you pull a gun on someone, be ready to use it if necessary. Well this cat kept coming...and I could not identify him through the curtains. Thought it MAY be my Dad. So as a 13 yr old, I knew if he actually got n my house, my chances to win this engagement were not good. So I held the gun next to the window, and cocked it as hard and loud as I culd, hoping that would scare him off. It did not...he put his hands against the window and pulled his face up to look in. When he did, I instinctively with the butt of the gun, hit him through the glass as hard as I could, breaking glass in his face. He ran off. Why I share this is before that happened, I thought it would be very easy to make decisions when confronted. I promise if this has never happened to you(had to make a decision to USE your firearm to protect yourself and family) you really do not KNOW what you will do. I was worried the guy could hear my heart beat through the door it was beating so hard. It was the real thing...someone was breaking in our house and KNEW there were people inside. Side note...my 80 lb German shepard never woke up. The other times someone tried to enter...he scared them off.

You don't and nobody is forcing you to.

That's your problem.

If someone wants to pull a gun on me, I'd like the ability to pull one in return. I will be damned if I am going to pay the state for that.

Incidentally the operative word is concealed which means whether the person is licensed or not, if done correctly you won't know about it anyways.

There is also an electoral consideration to this. Independents, may not choose to have a gun, but they can understand the "why" and preservation of the Right.
Also not my problem. You can't legislate away a natural right.

I have no idea what this means but it seems like more "what if" bullshit. Vigilantes are by definition criminals.

No need to use expletives here. My view, and the view of many/most independents is that if you want a gun in public, then have it registered and go through proper background checks is my view, as you asked. It is reasonable. I especially want this in big cities. So, perhaps this is a state-by-state or even community by community consideration.

I had these same thoughts for years, and when I was younger, and felt like I could handle myself well enough I did not need a firearm I decided not to get my license. Two things changed for me. One...I got older and realized I could not whip everyone else. Two...ISIS started going around everywhere and started killing innocent people. I decided it was MY job to protect my family and loved ones, and I could no longer do that without a gun. So I got my CCL, and unless I am standing in salt water(which I do all the time) my gun is in my pocket. I carry one that is not my ideal gun(.380 very small and conceals well) but one I WILL carry all of the time.

You must be new here.

Don't care. Not constitutional and none of your business.

It is reasonable.
That is strictly your opinion.

Good luck with that.

25 states are now permitless carry. Two more are expected to join them this year.

This is exactly how the law is written. Some states allow it...some do not.

That's what we have now.

Of course in liberal cities, they just raise the bar high enough so that almost no one (other than powerful people and their paid protection) is allowed to get a concealed carry license.

Or they do may issue.

For instance in Napa County CA, self defense is not a valid reason for a permit.

NY is 100% this way....and if you have a gun...even in your own home, and it is not legally registered(which is near impossible) and they find out....you WILL go to prison(not jail) even if you have a perfect criminal record(never arrested) I know this to be 100% fact. It happened to one of my family members. Yes...he broke the law. A jilted GF called the police and told them he had an unregistered firearm in his house, as well as grass. He had both. He spent 2 years in prison. Guy was making 300K a yr, hired the BEST attorney money could buy...did not matter. The county had a 100% conviction rate on that particular crime. THIS is why people that want to protect our rights do not want to give an inch...because when you give these nut jobs an inch..they will come back for a mile.

Two people were killed and another lost his eye in a knife attack in downtown Nashville. Knife attacks are common in Britain. The pedestrian bridge saw a murder about a year or two ago. Downtown is becoming less safe and it's not because of law abiding gun carriers.

"Very Graphic" Don't click if you can't stand seeing blood.

Speaking of society in general and a need for protection. This was in Canada. Some people are claiming some witnesses said this happened over the guy just telling the other guy he wished he wouldn't vape right there beside his young child which led to threats and then this. He was at the place with his wife and kids. With how messed up society is now I think just like with road rage its better not to even say anything to people now as you don't know what kind of loose cannon you are dealing with.

The press secretary has the same mental capacity as a "certain" poster that frequents our boards!!! REPUBLICANS caused the school shooting!! LOLOL Even though the shooter was one of THEM...a mentally deraigned he/she...it was US that are to blame! I want ANYONE to post something when someone in this criminal administration EVER told the truth about something! Afghanistan? Nope...blamed Trump. Inflation? Nope...transitory...and....Trumps fault. (neither are true) Economy doing GREAT? (for who?) EV's are America's savior? biggest lie being told today. Hunters laptop? Russian disinformation...BS. Brandon does not know ANYTHING about Hunters business dealings? LIAR. Defunding the police? Republicans want that. LIAR. Republicans want to cut SS.Fing liars. Banning "assault rifles" (lie before you even start) would curb school shootings? LIAR

It blows my mind that they do not understand the difference between EVIL...and guns. Evil is well..EVIL. Guns...are just guns
The libs here understand their politics. That's why none of them will post ITT since we discovered the shooter was a mentally ill lefty. @sadgator usually is all over a shooting thread. This one got skipped. He's not the only one missing.

It does seem as though trannies and gender confused are becoming more and more prevalent in mass shootings. Any day now they'll be blaming DeSantis for this. 😂

There's been three. And I'm not sure this new bunch suffers from gender dysphoria, I think they suffer from self esteem issues and "Wow is me I'm pathetically average and nobody thinks I'm the special snowflake I think I am and pays attention to me" syndrome.

The crayon that connects the dots is people with depraved indifference to mass murder, aka CRAZY.

I think what they are going to eventually claim is that WE are the reason why they are killing everyone. Cause they are under tremendous pressure cause of mean ole people like us saying they are mentally ill.

It will end up being our fault. Watch and see.

One cockbite already said that. Some one posted it in the Locker Room somewhere, some delusional tweet.

Well I have done a bit of research. Swimming both rifles were ar-15 platform, this brings the total number of AR-15 rifles, the preferred rifle of mass shooters and proof that anyone who owns one is a bad person who hates children to

13 since 2012.

Incidentally it 42 years for someone to use an AR in a mass shooting in the first place. In 2007.
