Orange Park High School took that into consideration.People are starting to realize this and the push is to have better trained Resource Officers at the schools rather than the LEO who is at the end of a very long career.
My concern...how long before the shine wears off? It's a hot-button issue today and money, resources and people are easier to come by. Buy holy crap, a school resource officer is a boring job so who will want to do it? "And couldn't that money be better spent on _____?"
So now instead of an SRO they have a Clay County Sheriffs Department substation. They lease the office space to the county and now have 12 deputies on site. Not all at once obviously but when they are done with a call that's where they are.
