How long does Ron DeSantis stay in 2nd place to Trump in primary polling? Will they pull the plug on him before he announces?

Long is the road with no turns.

Comical as well that DeSantis' comment about porn lawyers went over like a lead balloon for some people...people who cheerlead Trump going on the offensive against DeSantis.

It's whatever...who cares? I surely don't beyond pointing out the hypocrisy. The American left cares as well...they're loving every minute of it. It's stupid.
Yeah but aren't you doing the same thing? You complained about Trump going after DeSantis, then DeSantis goes after Trump, and it's no biggie to you?

And I don't even have a problem with DeSantis firing back. My issue was with the timing and the issue he decided to strike back over. It helped Trump and hurt him.

But I do think it's interesting that some of you are coming out now saying it's not a big deal that DeSantis flicked Trump's ears over the media claiming he had an affair with Stormy. Because I suspect that eventually the media will make a similar claim about DeSantis, and if Trump flicks Ron's ears, I will be curious to see if the same standard applies.

And BTW, the polls have consistently shown DeSantis losing support to Trump for weeks now. Across the board. DeSantis got a nice bump immediately after he won re-election in November, but since around Jan or so, his polling has either held fast or fell. Trump's has done the opposite at the same time.

Say what you want about Trump's behavior, but the poll numbers don't lie.

So, 'The Donald' (who is currently an unemployed loser) is MSM polling above a guy (he has a job after being reelected by a record landslide) that hasn't even declared as a candidate for the Primary.... 🤓

IMPRESSIVE,,, MOST IMPRESSIVE.... 🙄

The biggest current drag on 'The Donald' comes from the idiots like feveredbrains and GhostofBrainless, who continue supporting the stupid childish attacks on 'America's Governor,' and one that hasn't even entered the primary race for President....

Shooting yourself in the foot, is NOT a smart way to begin a race.....
🙄

You sound like the DeSantis team who already know where his poll numbers are headed.

You really think Trump would be foolish enough to hit the breaks now when DeSantis has the entire Rep establishment apparatus behind him. Also unlike 2016 there will not be a prolonged primary. Trump will win IA and then NH decisively effectively ending the race.

This post isn't reality-based. I didn't say that it wasn't a big deal...I questioned whether that comment was intended to attack Trump.

After reading a few of your responses after I said that, I relented and said that you're probably right. It probably was an ear flick.

Do I agree with that? No, I don't. Do I understand it given that Trump had taken multiple shots at DeSantis? Yes, I absolutely do.

Agree...but that's also why I said, "long is the road with no turns."

Long-term we will see if it's a sound strategy. Maybe it is???

"I'm executive now...and I'm doing things."

I thought the answer was brilliant. It was accurate and he didn't close any doors.
But DeSantis closed those doors on the campaign trial when he said he was going to serve a full second term if re-elected.

That's why I said the correct answer was "I have a job, Eric. I'm Florida's governor." That answer reminds voters that he answered this question during the campaign, and that his word is his bond.

The answer he gave communicates that he's open to breaking his word, as you said.

This poll was conducted Friday-Sunday. It will be interesting to see how the numbers move once polling includes Monday, and DeSantis' comments about Trump's pending arrest.

This poll ran from March 16-21, and DeSantis made his 'I dunno the protocol for paying off a hooker' comment on March 20th.

Trump leads DeSantis by 31 head to head. As I said, DeSantis' dig on Trump was a dumb call, and polling is now reflecting that. I suspect the numbers will get even worse for DeSantis once the polling range begins on March 20th or later.

Trump will win this whole thing if he just sticks to HIS accomplishments, and Brandon's colossal failures. Not since Jimmy Carter has a President done such harm to America BECASUE of his policies. Even hussein was not this bad. He could not move so fast to the left like Brandon has done, despite wanting to. Of course...hussein IS behind everything happening today in America...proxy of Valerie Jarrett and Susan Rice..two UNAMERICAN POS's

Agree to disagree.

I always have 2 year, 5 year and 10 year plans. At any moment in time, I have one. It rarely goes exactly as I've predicted...and that's fine, but I keep working towards my plan.

You don't prefer DeSantis so this bothers you more than it otherwise would. JMO

I dunno the protocol for paying off a hooker' comment on March 20th.

“I have no interest in getting involved in some manufactured circus by some Soros-DA,” DeSantis said at a news conference Monday, referring to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. “He’s trying to do a political spectacle. He’s trying to virtue signal for his base. I’ve got real issues I got to deal with here in the state of Florida.”

“I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair, I just, I can’t speak to that," DeSantis said, to laughter in the background. Then, referring to the prosecutor again, he added, "That's an example of pursuing a political agenda."

Words matter.

"At a Sunday luncheon following the annual Red Cross ball in Palm Beach, Florida, a group of 16 prominent Republicans, described by one attendee as a mix of DeSantis backers and Trump "skeptics," discussed misgivings about the governor's standing for the future if he tussles with the former president.

“They liked him — many of them might even support him,” the person who was at the event said of DeSantis. “But they thought on balance that his long-term future was better without him trying to take Trump head on.”

“He will get scarred up” by Trump, the person added.
----------------------------------------

I bet DeSantis himself having the ambition he does is really questioning things right now and wondering what the hell did he get himself into here. I think he might be too far into this to turn back now though unless those rich donors start abandoning him as a lost cause. I expect Trump to pound him again at his big rally tonight.

I think short of literally announcing in the next week he won't be running and that he is fully endorsing Trump there is no chance he will be the 2028 nominee either. Even if Trump was to lose in 2024 he las lost the base almost entirely and is hated so much by enough of the base now that Haley and Pence etc. aren't even mentioned hardly.

You think this matters to voters? I would strongly disagree. First of all, Trump has had more illegitimate chit thrown at him that we ALL now know has not been true. All created by the left. I think most are getting sick of it, and many have figured out the lefts game. Secondly, things were GREAT under Trump...until China let covid out. Seems fishy to me the timing of covid. People are SICK of the effects of inflation, high rates, open borders, high crime, supply chain shortages, and now our military weakness. If Trump can just focus on HIS accomplishments, and Brandons colossal failures in EVERYTHING he touches, he will be elected in 2024. If he keeps attacking America's Governor...he is going to run in to problems I fear. Not sure Trumps enormous ego will allow for him to lay off of DeSantis. Let me remind you that Bill Clinton got frequent BJ's IN THE OVAL OFFICE from a very young girl...and LIED under oath about it...and was reelected by a HUGE margin

Absolutely not.

People who hate him will use it to justify the hate. People who don't, won't.

I wasn't implying that it matters to voters. I was showing that DeSantis' comments weren't as harsh as some are pretending.
I agree...only people who will jump on that already hate Trump. I AM a bit slow...remember no college for me! LOL

He can hammer on DeSantis as long as DeSantis does something worth hammering on. Same for every other candidate.

And they can hammer him back if he slips.

I think you knew that wasn't a direct quote, but rather 'quoting' the spirit of his comment.

Thanks for giving the actual quote, which is just as bad, if not worse.

If the recession that appears very likely to be in the pipeline for later this year hasn't ended by the release of the Q2 2024 GDP numbers the Rep primary winner regardless of who it is will be POTUS.
Zero chance DeSantis or Trump wins unless we secure the 2024 election.

It baffles me how 90% of you here think that can just be ignored.

Why do you think certain posters here are more than happy to say 'just move on'? Cause they know that kills it for Trump. They could care less what happens to DeSantis or any other pub in the process.

So....yes he can hammer. But what he hammers needs to be on DeSantis's performance...not personal. There is not a person alive that supports Trump more than I do, but I ALSO appreciate Ron DeSantis. There are people all over the Country that feel as I do. Hell, what he did in Florida is AMAZING. We are a RED state now, thanks to him. I just wish that they would get together and figure out how DeSantis could be VP this time, and take over for 8 years after Trump fixes Brandons F ups. That would be SO GOOD for America...and America is what is at stake

So this is easy to say, and almost impossible to do. When lefties are in charge of making their own rules...there in really nothing WE can do. Arizona is a perfect example here. Lake won that by almost double digits in my opinion. And they block legal challenges.

What in the blue hell does this mean?

What actions should we be taking? I've heard this over and over but I still don’t know what I should be doing.

The VP ship has sailed but agree otherwise.

I disagree. I believe it was less harsh.

And again, I wouldn't have an issue if DeSantis decided to come at Trump at this point...because turn-about is fair play.
Ain't like it matters.

Harris called out Biden on his civil rights record on television and now she's VP. Little bit of mudslinging ain't going to hurt nobody.

I mean, he can do what he wants, but the polling since he said that proves it did nothing for him, and likely cost him.

It's amazing to me, we have supposedly college-educated adults posting on this board. People with (in most cases) above average intelligence.

Yet when it comes to securing election integrity, these same posters suddenly become idiots.

"What can I do??? No one has ever told me this!"

DeSantis has zero percent chance of winning in 2024 until we secure elections. If you truly support DeSantis, then you either need to figure out what you can do, or accept that your guy has zero percent chance of winning.

Those are your two options. Again, above average intelligence, so smarts isn't the issue here. Motivation seems to be.

Then all threads about the election are pointless, unless we want to debate if the dems are gonna let michelle or Newsom be President in 2024.

There's zero point discussing DeSantis, Trump, or any republican as President from this point forward if there's nothing any of us can do to secure the elections.

That's just logic.

Comments on the 20th, poll was complete on the 21st. That's probably a bit quick.

You may well be right but not because of that poll.

Here's another for you, conducted on March 22nd and 23rd. Trump ahead of DeSantis by 26 points. Trump gained 4 points from their previous poll.

This is why I said 'polling' and not poll.

If you see any polls that include March 20th in range and show DeSantis gaining, please share.

LOL...the implication was, "what should I be doing that I'm not already doing."

I support the legal cases and I support election integrity legislation.

From the way you made it sound, or at least how I interpreted what you said, it sounds like I should have been doing something else.

But it's clear, since I'm for the above, I'm not in the "just move on crowd." That was really what I was trying to figure out.

I'm not much of a poll guy. I used to be. Then again, they used to be more reliable.

Maybe these are. I suspect that Trump has a fairly comfortable lead over DeSantis as it stands today.

So in your mind, there's really nothing the average everyday voter can do about it. If there's any legislation that shows up on a ballot we can vote for, fine.

Otherwise, there's really nothing we can do.

So logically, I try to make that fit in my brain why someone would think this way. Obviously, it sounds like a lack of motivation on your part.

Why the lack of motivation? Some possible reasons:

1 - You feel the situation is hopeless and there's nothing that can be done from your end to help solve the problem.
2 - You feel the situation is overblown and not really as big of a deal as some are making it out to be.

My guess is you are in the 2nd camp. If you are, that means you likely believe all you really need to do is support the 'right' candidates and legislation, and the rest will take care of itself.

Ok then. I can't argue with that if it's your thinking, and I would be wasting my time if i did.

Ok...here we go again. What should I be doing beyond those two things?

Better yet, what are you doing beyond those two things? Maybe I can match and mirror you.

I don't fit into 1 or 2.

2 is more ridiculous so sure as shit that ain't me.

As for 1, I don't believe that the situation is hopeless so that doesn't work either.

I could raise money for such causes. Are you raising money?

Ok then. I can't argue with that if it's your thinking, and I would be wasting my time if i did.

You're making assumptions and then getting pissy over those assumptions. Now that is a waste of your time.

That only happens if you care enough to do anything.

In your mind you are doing all you can do, so it's a waste of my time and yours to attempt to tell you otherwise.
