Grier

Grier is done for 2015. UF and Grier are appealing the first 6 games of the 2016 season. They aren't appealing the 2015 season at all.

Thinking you're right, did you watch him at the presser....he could barely speak about it the first time. It was sad.

His statement was extremely brief...and he was certainly emotional. He gave very little information and folks are making a LOT of presumptions. Here's his quote:

"“I took an over-the-counter supplement that had something in it,” Grier said in a brief statement. “I did not check with the medical staff before taking it. I really hope that people can learn from this. Learn from my mistake. I’m really sorry to everyone. Just really sorry.”

He said: 1. He took an over the counter supplement.
2. It had something in it.
3. He didn't check with the medical staff first.
4. He made a mistake and is sorry.

Nothing he said was a denial. He doesn't say he didn't know what was in the supplement or that he didn't know it was banned. We simply don't know the circumstances at all. Not sure the full story helps him or not on an appeal.

You quoted pass one one thing and then put up a straw man argument on another.

Par for your course.

Assuming UF does have rules similar to other major programs that state each player must show their medical/training staff every type of supplement/medicine, etc prior to ingesting.....then you read/hear his statement 93/99 just quoted...what is your take? I ask you because you are usually pretty fair and objective on most topics.

At this point no one outside the university system or Grier knows exactly what he tested for................ at least nothing confirmed, just speculation. Most knowledgeable posts on other boards suggest they are saving that information for the appeal (to cut the suspension to 2015 only). In essence, keeping some dry powder for the appeal. I've seen nothing new on it.

I think either UF or Grier screwed up. The supplement that Grier took was either one he might have been told was banned, and he took it anyway, or he did not know it was banned and did not consult anyone before taking it.

FWIW, If Grier was being truthful then he wasn't on Ligandrol. This is not an OTC supplement and can only be purchased on sites in which you state you are using it for research or veterinary purposes only.

The University has explicitly said that it was NOT Ligandrol.

Provided the available info. is accurate, I concur with your take. If so, the appeal to limit the suspension to just this season could be an uphill climb. Time will tell. For what it is worth, I still think UF has the edge this Saturday. More balanced on offense than LSU plus I think UF's defense is better. The hostile environment will be an edge for LSU so UF needs to get some big plays and scores early and take them out. If LSU gets a jump then it could be tough. 21-17 UF.

Early enrollee arrival in Jan 2014 at 6-2 183.
Starts 2015 Fall practice in August at 6-2 203.
That's 20 LB's in 20 months, looks normal for any growing kid.

IF he was paying for and taking something to boost his growth, then he should get a REFUND at the very least....

It looks like a dumb, (spur of the moment) mistake on his part.
Now we wait to see how bad the NCAA hammers him for it... o_O
It's an AUTOMATIC 1 year suspension, but it's not a MANDATORY 1 year suspension and appeals are usually expected. Hopefully the appeal will shorten the year to something a bit more reasonable...

Alabama/GA/FSU player in the same situation would receive a reduced suspension... Let's see how it plays out for a Gator. History would suggest that WG will be penalized to the fullest extent of the law.

It's not fair for a simple mistake to cost a kid this much... It's not like he was killing baby deer for their antler velvet.

The new news (rumor) is that the supplement was C4. A quick perusal of the ingredients shows that powder is mostly stimulants, particularly caffeine. So, Grier took enough of this to simulate 10-12 cups of coffee, which is approximately how much coffee it would take to fail.

If this is true, it was dumb on his part, but certainly defensible, from an appeal standpoint. I do not think that this is something that stays in the system very long. Subsequent tests should come clean.

Not certain how you arrive at the Bama/FSU player would get a reduced suspension. Mathew Thomas was popped by the NCAA in the playoff game for pot.Yes it seems, the NCAA counts pot as a PED. Since he'd just had shoulder surgery and was out for several months, he didn't think he'd even be tested by the NCAA anyway. Given the 1 yr. sentence though. Then in Aug. the NCAA changed their sentence for pot to 6mos. FSU was able to appeal his penalty to 6 games and just 10 mos. They don't mess around much with PEDs apparently.

Did I mis-quote Grier? No.

Was anything I posted inaccurate? No.

Personal attacks from you are par for your course.
Oh Dear. For all your whining about personal attacks, you dive right in and do the same.

You are the master of the passive aggressive straw man. You could not prove the point, so you tried to prove something else and then tried to pretend that it is the same thing. That is normal for you.
