Gator Baseball

LSU SECw-C put the broom on MsSt. (grats dudes)

UF SECe-C would have had to sweep UK to win the SEC-C outright. (jus-damn)

So we share the SEC-C regular season title, but the UF 2-1 LSU tie breaker gives UF the 1 seed, LSU 2 seed at the SEC Tourney. (UK gets the 3 Seed)

UF 1 - 0 LSU
UF 8 - 1 LSU
UF 6 - 10 LSU

No complaints about a shared SEC regular season title. It's probably the toughest championship to win in college baseball, including the CWS. Gators looked pretty happy with it, dogpiling on the mound on Saturday. Great win for those guys, to cap off a really impressive season. Who would have thought at the beginning of the season that we'd be a lock top-4 seed at the finish? Great job by the kids and by Sully. I think he needs to keep mini-Sully around on the bench for good luck. That kid is awesome.

Why, that would be me, of course... :D

And he's Finn-Sully to me, ;) and I agree that he's a GREAT mascot for the team, and hopefully a Gator player himself one day. :)

Gator baseball gets started in the SEC tournament at 10:45 Wednesday night vs. Auburn. Weather has wreaked havoc on the tournament. While this doesn't mean much to UF in the scheme of things, I still want our guys to win. Plus I want us to avenge being swept by the Tigers opening the SEC season. Go Gators.

Up 4-0 in the 7th. Faedo threw too many pitches to get this deep into the game. Gave up a hit & a walk and was relived by Rubio with 2 on, nobody out. Rubio gets a ground out force to put runners on the corners, 1 out with 2 lefties coming up. Horvath comes in and get the 1st batter to chop one to India, who makes a bad throw to 1st. Error, run scores. Pouring down rain now. Horvath walks the next batter, gets a flyout to left field and then gives up a 2-run double. Dyson comes in to relive and uncorks a wild pitch to allow the tying run to score. Strikeout end the inning, 4-4 going to the bottom of the 7th. Bullpen real shaky, but India's error hurt. Hate to lose this one. Need to rally guys.

We take the lead 5-4 in the bottom of the 8th on a bases loaded walk to Hicks. Inning ended double play kept us from getting more. Byrne sets 'em down in the 9th - Good guys win 5-4. Michael Byrne gets his school record 14h save.

What an 8th inning!!!. Will be real interesting to see what Sully does with the pitching if we make it to the finals on Sunday.

Arkansas beat Miss. St. 9-2. LSU plays South Carolina at 1 today. We play a half hour or so after that game finishes.

Singer will start. I like that. If he is sharp, Arkansas will have a hard time scoring. We have shown that we we get to the pen of the opposing team, we can usually do some damage.

Not sure what rotation Arky has used, but 4th game in 3 days you would think they would have some tired arms.

SEC-C Florida 42 - 15 -- 21-9 SEC
In Baseball, as in many other sports, timing is critical, if not everything.... Let's say that both teams get 9 hits, who wins the game?

Team 1 gets 1 hit in each inning.
Team 2 gets 0 hits in 8 innings, but 9 hits in one inning.
Guess which team has the best chance for the win? ;)

MsSt scored in 3 innings with 3 runs on 12 hits.
Florida scored in 2 innings with 12 runs on just 10 hits.
~ Florida's 11 runs in the 8th inning tied for the most in a single inning in SEC Tournament history.

Baseball team obviously don't give a shit about this tournament anymore, might as well forfeit before someone else gets hit in the face or in the junk somehow and miss more time...

Get back to Gainesville without anybody else getting hurt and wait to see how the Selection Committee screws us with our regional and super regional matchups.

Miami might get in. If they do, I expect to see them. FSU might get sent to Gainesville. As might USF, JU, FGCU or UCF. But UCF might host a Regional

I know we'll find out for sure tomorrow, but CollegeSportsMadness.com/Bracketology has Gators, as of last night, as the #4 overall seed with USF, Florida Gulf Coast & UNC Greensboro in our Regional and the winner facing the winner of the Wake Forest Regional (UCF, Michigan & UNC Wilmington) in the Super Regional. They have FSU as one of the last 4 in and going to the Arkansas Region and Miami going to the Houston regional.

Baseball America, as of 5/17, has us as the #5 seed with UCF, LA Tec & Bethune Cookman in our Regional, with the winner playing the Clemson Regional winner (Vandy, UCONN, Winthrop) in the Supers. They have FSU being one of the last 4 in and going to the Miss. St. Regional and Miami not making the field. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Lol, your information is very dated. Try going back to those websites now. Completely different.

You're right. Baseball America's latest projections as of last night were from 5/17. But the College Sports Madness was 5/27. But after yesterday's conference championship games they, obviously, would be different. FSU made a huge jump from last 4 in to hosting a Regional in the newest projections. I just hate that they show the Gainesville & Tallahasse Regionals playing each other in the Supers. We'll know for sure in a half hour or so.

UF, #3 Seed vs. Marist Friday at 7 pm. USF & Bethune-Cookman the other 2 teams in our regional. Winner play the winner of the Wake Forest regional. Very pleased with the bracket this year. My main concern going in is how strong are the arms of Faedo, Singer & Kowar at this point in the season. They've been used a good bit more than weekend starters of the past at UF and Singer has been very shaky his last 3-4 outings.

O'Sullivan said today that Larson is out for the Regionals, but should be back for the Supers if we make it. Guthrie, Rivera & Horvath are fine and ready to play.

Assuming we beat Marist tonight, I sure hope Faedo has his A game tomorrow because USF is going to be tough to beat. They can flat out hit.

Boys are struggling tonight against Marist. Up 7-6 in the 7th. 3 errors and shaky pitching. Have to play much better to beat USF, assuming they hang on to win this one.

lmao they already post seasoning, pitching someone that can't pitch against lesser competition like against UVA two years ago... it's just forever the same with this team man...It's marist, f'in MARIST...

I am glad Faedo is pitching against USF. With our pen, it is very important to stay in the winner's bracket.

Totally agree, and he has to hit his spots better than he has his last 3-4 outings. On top of that our defense has to tighten up.

There is a good bit of parity in today's college baseball.
Getting HOT on the right days wins championships. ;)

1-1 vs. USF going to the bottom of the 8th. Faedo has been great, but so has USF's bullpen. They pulled their starter after the lightning delay. Hope we can pull this out.
