Carry over to Gator 2023-24 Basketball :-)

Maybe you need another timeout??
Could you explain to me which board rules I'm violating,,, this time?
Is posting facts from the UF official website a violation?
Or are only 'some' opinions allowed????

Tell you what, I'll time myself out of the locker room for a while, so you won't have to bother with it... (see ya, and you're welcome)

I refer you to the board Mod on that...
So request denied....

Or you can just go check the official UF Basketball website for 2021-22.

Go to the bottom of the page for the listing of the coaches.
I'm just trying to help...I'm sure you would not want to present incorrect data or misrepresent information....

KenPom projects Florida will win this contest 72-65 and gives the Gators a 75% chance of victory regardless of score. Florida is an 8-Pt betting favorite.

While an UGly win likely does very little in terms of upwards mobility on KenPom or the NCAA NET, it would prevent Florida from further downward sliding.

If Florida beats Quad III Georgia, it was expected and so it's no big deal.
But if Florida loses to yet another lesser team, then OMG!

if anyone needs a laugh, just watch this team. they couldnt beat a elementary school team, what a abortion of a squad

How can that be when Georgia is 11-3 to our 7-7 and might be on their way to the top 25 rankings with a win? A computer knows more than the results on the court?

Their schedule has been really bad. I don’t think they are anywhere near a top 25 ranking are they?

Before today's game, Florida's NET ranking was #73, Georgia's #111. Georgia hadn't played a Quad 1 team yet, were 1-3 vs. Quad 2 teams. The Gators have at least played a much better schedule, but are 0-5 vs. Quad 1 and 0-1 vs. Quad 2. Neither team is very good, IMO, but today's game was exciting to watch and a good win for UF.

Are we better than KY this season? They are pretty ticked over at Rupp Rafters wanting Cal fired.
I have been saying it for years. Calipari is overrated. Very good recruiter but not a good game day or X’s and O’s type coach. And when he isn’t recruiting #1 classes then this is what you mostly get. UK hasn’t been all that great for a few years now.

He’s good at recruiting and then yelling alot at his players and the refs to make it look like he’s actually coaching.

UF Women's BB dropped to 12-5, 1-3 in the SEC, losing82-77 to Georgia at home on ESPNU Sunday. Florida led through the game and had a 9 point lead after 3 quarters. But they fell apart in the 4th quarter, especially the last 6 minutes, getting outscored 34-20 in the 4th. The Gators lost their best player to a season-ending injury just prior to the start of the season and probably their 2nd best player has missed the last 9-10 games due to "personal" reasons. But they simply played sloppy today in a game they should have won. UF shot 52% from the field and 50% from the 3-point arc. But Georgia got up 15 more shots due to 23 Gator turnovers and Florida allowing Georgia 14 offensive turnovers. Next up is Kentucky at home on Sunday at 3 pm on the SEC Network.

Because so many have begged, I'll reply.

#73 UF NET

#111 UG NET
With 17 seconds left on the clock, it was still a one score game.

Lofton's 2 FT's and his excellent pass to Kugel finally put the game away in the closing seconds.

So, a team ranked 38 spots lower than UF can be beat AT HOME UF, if they can get closing seconds lucky, unlike their last 2 games losses.

And while the Gator won the game (most important), they still failed to cover the 8 Pt spread, (82-75).

Excellent, and that makes them a sure thing for the Big Dance, right fevered brains? LMAO

PS - In my 57+ years as a Gator fan, I've never pulled for them to lose....
And I've never been against Golden, but I still say that Mike White was and is a good coach, as his on the court record more than confirms, along with being a 4.0 person.
Negative opinions can vary, but the positive record and facts remain...

The only fact that matters is that 1 good post season in 6+ years is below the standard UF should accept. Any argument opposed to that will be similar to UK football pre-stoops fans being content with 7 win seasons.

If you're ok with never winning conference championships or being a champion contender, than I suppose you can try and fill that void with stats that never mean anything in the end.

Unlike many here, I don't have championship tunnel vision when judging the job and output of a HC.

Because of how he was being perceived and treated at Socialist-U, I was suggesting (on this board) that MIke should leave UF on his own, as I didn't believe that they deserved him.

The fact that he chose to leave is good for all, so I'm not sad that he's gone, he deserved better and he seems to be getting it elsewhere.

If people here want to continue to whine and snivel about past departed coaches, that's up to them, as sad of a look as that is....

He was 2 Rbs short of a Double-Double, got close to a Triple-Double, and had over half of what it takes to get a Quad-Double: He hauled in 8 rebounds for the 5th time in the previous 6 games and added 12 points and 5 assists to his aforementioned 7 blocks, making him the 1st Florida player since one of the program’s all-time greats, Joakim Noah, to tally at least 10 points, seven rebounds, five assists and five rejections in a contest.

Castleton - 12 Pts - 8 Rbs - 7 Blks - 5 Asts
That earned him the KenPom MVP of the Game.
He was short of a Double-Double by 2 Rbs.
Then he was short by 3 Blks for the Triple-D, and short 5 Asts for the Quad-D
He was well over half way to having an unheard of Quad-Double.....
Nice game Colin, and Go-Gators...

Do you think Napier deserves better also seeing what is going on with the portal and possibly Rashada also? Curious to hear your take on that.

Here's my take on Napier for you feveredbrains.... 😴

Try asking CG1 and/or his new butt-buddy, the dunny, because they're always clued-in on everything. 😉

Gator men play at LSU in a couple of minutes on the SEC Network. LSU is 12-3, with their losses all close ones to Kansas State, Kentucky and Texas A&M. The have w good win over Wake Forest and an SEC win over Arkansas. Big game for both teams.

There's very little effort to drive to the basket. They toss in to Castleton and if he can't make a move to score he throws it back out for a jacked up 3. Over & Over and Over. And we allow way too many offensive rebounds to our opponents. Hard to win when the other team gets 10-15 more shots.

Best game of the season by the Gators. Maybe they're figuring some things out. Still shoot too many 3's.
They’re playing defense, which they have done at times but now they’re stringing together close to full games. Still can’t shoot, more TOS than assists… but hey nice road win.

Good! Then we won't hear any more sniveling from you about past coaches!

Matt McMahon was the coach I wanted at UF but Golden has won his 2nd straight against him.
You might want to go see a 'fact checker' on what seems to me to be a bogus claim....

"Their clubs hooked up in a thriller on March 17 with No. 7 seed Murray State moving on with a 92-87 overtime win over 10th-seeded San Francisco."

=======

But it was still a nice SEC road win vs LSU for Golden.

My mistake on that one. For some reason I kept thinking San Fran pulled thru.
For now, it seems Stricklin should have waited another three days to hire McMahon.

You act like White is some great coach and he apparently has just been beating a bunch of quad 3 and quad 4 opponents mostly. He even lost to this struggling Gator squad after having a 13 point lead. As far as the Gators and the tourney it may be too late but 9-5 here on out might could do it. Hard to see that at this point though.
