First basketball player I've seen since Larry Legend that's just flat out fun to watch play the game.

The sneaky inside passing assists and the full court throw assists of a Bird.
The snap quick getting off of accurate shots. From under the basket, and from the out to the logo 3's of a Stephen Curry.
With rebound numbers that amount to getting triple doubles.

jusdamn...
.

She caved and then doubled down on it.

she just pissed it all away for what? Do you really think the tranny goons and the woke are just going to stop with that?

Pathetic.
Whatever she does, it will never be enough. So you basically just have to stop pandering from the get-go and say screw it. She did not do that so screw her. ...

This thread is about Basketball, not the politics of any athlete..
I don't have a problem with separating the two.

Personally, I don't GaS what political lean any actor or athlete has, because I don't and won't take their advice on anything to do with my own life. I just enjoy watching them perform in their own specific area of expertise....
I refuse to let the 'politics of the day' ruin my own enjoyment of everyday life.
I feel mildly sorry for those that do......
😎
It's not woke to just WTF-UP and move on from the other BS.

If you folks are unable to do that, then maybe you should start your own thread dealing with the political or other life stands of athletes and actors.....
😉

I personally appreciate your intent, but Caitlin herself opened up that can of worms the other day with her very public comments.

I agree she is a very good basketball player and she has some slick moves and is fun to watch. I think she is out of control more than she needs to be trying to make the next highlight reel play, her play is more suited to street ball like you would see at Rucker Park in Harlem, but her effort is appreciated and acknowledged ...

As an aside to your post, I hear what you were saying about separating politics and sports and that seems to be a pretty individual thing.

For a while, I was really tweaked at the NFL for trying to jam the racism narrative down our throats along with this Black Lives Matter hoax, and I started not to care very much about something that I had cared a lot about in the past.. I finally determined that since I like football a lot, I am going to continue to watch football and ignore the other stuff since I didn't do anything wrong. I don't feel the need to punish myself and deprive myself of something I enjoy. I would imagine that everybody makes their own peace in their own way.

That said, I will still not watch the NBA until I get a personal apology for the Black Lives Matter hoax, and full disclosure. I am not holding my breath, haha ...

Fresno, that might just be the understatement of the Year.... 😉

JMOHO's as always, realizing that others will see things differently and do their own thing in that process.
But, but, aside, etc..... You can either separate the two things, or you can't, their is no try.....

Now back to the athletics portion of life with the politics left for others to follow and talk about on a hopefully 'Contamination of Sports with Politics' thread.....

She finished with 337 on her rookie season....

And Steph Curry bought sideline seats, just to watch Clark shoot.

Rookie Season Per Game Stats Average:
35.4 Min - 19.2 Pts - 5.7 Rbs - 8.4 Asts - 1.3 Stls - 0.7 Blks - 1.5 Ast/TO Ratio

Season 40 Game Totals:
769 Pts - 227 Rbs - 337 Asts - 53 Stls - 27 Blks - 122 3's
FG 41.7% (242/580) - 3's 34.4% (122/355) - FT 90.6% (163/180)

What's extra extraordinary is that she put up those numbers while often being double teamed and receiving the most Flagrant Fouls in the WNBA, approx. 17% of the total committed on the season, while she committed zero flagrant fouls on any one else.

PS (she's just 22 years old, so maybe she deserves a bit of a break while she finishes growing up?)

I was just getting ready to say......she's 22 and been overwhelmed with attention. She's going to make decisions that I think are dumb.

How the hell does being white give you privilege when a majority of the players in your sport are black?
Not sure, but they might be talking about the 'attnetion' she's getting, while the WNBA has been mostly ignored for years. Still seems stupid to me because a rising tide lifts all boats.... And personally, her abilities is what's drawing the attention, not her skin color, because about 25% of the WNBA players are white.... Looks like envy and jealousy to me.

Or racist bullies.

She increased everyone’s paychecks significantly.

I don’t get it.

Well thank goodness, the DEI and WOKE BS is finally on the way out with reality beginning to set in...

It might just be taking the entire league some time to adjust to her skill level. Time passes, things change...

I detest the NBA, it's nothing but a hyped up version of the Harlem Globetrotters. It's a shell of it's former self. They don't allow players to play defense anymore, teams change players like underwear. There are far too many games. More is less. It's unwatchable. That being said, Tim Tebow could play in the WBA, and I still wouldn't watch. 😂

No one would even watch the WNBA if the media didn't push it so much. It's no different than when they push women's soccer when the women's world cup is played. It's artificially boosted by the media. Kind of like that time many years ago when the media showed how easy it was to create the next big model by taking some unknown one and pushing her as the next big thing on magazine covers etc and how many people will just follow their lead.

Not entirely correct imo guys. 🤓

The 2024 season shattered much of what was left of the glass ceiling in women's sports, transforming the industry from the traditional plea for attention into a sustained wave of demand. Packed arenas and sold out events became the norm, not the exception. Viewership and attendance totals exploded into new historic territory, while NIL opportunities turned women college athletes into household names.

The NCAA women's basketball championship game between Iowa (PG Clark) and South Carolina drew 18.9 million viewers, setting records as both ESPN's most-watched college basketball game ever and the largest audience for any women's college basketball game in history.

The game peaked at 24.1 million viewers during its final minutes, making it the most-watched basketball game across all levels in five years and establishing itself as the second most-watched women's sporting event in U.S. television history, a 90% increase from the previous year's championship and solidified the game's position as the most-watched annual sporting event outside of football since 2019.

After Clark's arrival, the WNBA regular season broadcasts on ESPN platforms also saw a 170% increase in viewership compared to the previous year. While the full season (including regular season, playoffs, and Finals) averaged 1.2 million viewers, representing the most-watched season ever on ESPN platforms and a 155% increase from the previous year.

The Indiana Fever averaging 17,035 fans
at Gainbridge Fieldhouse - a 319% jump from the previous year. The league's surge in popularity forced multiple teams to relocate games to larger venues when hosting Clark's Indiana, while the Fever's regular season finale in Washington drew a record-breaking crowd of 20,711 spectators.

Even as you know Caitlin Clark had a profound effect on how many people watched the WNBA this season, the numbers written out are remarkable. With the WNBA regular season concluded and the playoffs set to start on Sunday, the numbers of how many eyeballs she delivered both on TV and in the arenas have emerged.

Fox executive Michael Mulvihill reported Friday that Clark’s games on TV averaged 1.178 million viewers, nearly tripling the audience for all other WNBA games, which averaged 394,000.
Dream games
averaged 17,592 fans when they hosted the Fever, as compared to 3,316 for all others.
The Mystics drew 20,522 fans when the Fever were in town, and averaged 4,988 for the rest of their games.

The Dream and Mystics typically play in smaller venues, but moved Fever games to the Hawks’ and Wizards’ much larger arenas when Clark came to town to accommodate fan demands for tickets/seating.

League Expansion

These historic increases in viewership, attendance, sponsorship, and revenue across women’s collegiate and professional sport also led to increased investments and league expansion in 2024. Following the 2023 announcement of the WNBA’s expansion team, the Golden State Valkyries, the WNBA announced two additional expansion teams in 2024, with Toronto (Toronto Tempo) and Portland set to join the league for the 2026 season, bringing the total number of franchises to 15. Importantly, Toronto's entry marks the WNBA's first expansion into Canada. The league plans to reach 16 teams by 2028, with potential markets including Kansas City, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Orlando, Jacksonville, Denver, Miami, Nashville, and Philadelphia.

And how sustainable is all of this considering they lost $40 million last year for the 27th or 28th consecutive year in the red?

Fresno, the business end, the accounting structure, and who's actually in charge and making the $$$ decisions is not an area that I have any knowledge of, nor any interest in. I'm just a basketball fan that likes watching the best in the game, like a Larry Legend or the Caitlin Effect....

Just a FYI, I've never watched a WNBA game live. I have only watched utube highlights of both Larry and Caitlin. It's kinda like watching Olympic Sports in years past. I didn't ever watch or go to winter sports events, but I'd watch the best in the Olympics and enjoyed it.

Women's basketball is very different for men's basketball, but I get your point of watching the best.

If you were not aware, the WNBA is propped up by the NBA, whose owners have taken tax losses every year on the league. I don't think it's inappropriate to wonder aloud how much longer the gravy trains going to go on for ...

I find it at least laughable that a failing business model would be expanded like this. I'm a big lacrosse fan. I played in college and I played club lacrosse. The professional leagues, although extremely talented do not make money but they do about breakeven. I think I'm wondering how much longer they can continue and I really don't pay much attention because of that. ...

The local paper mentioned a WNBA team in Jax a week or two ago. The comments were great!

This was just fun for me to watch,,,, LMFAO..... 😂 🤣 😂

LOL he is in bed in his underwear.

Clark is a rare talent. Tuarasi is as well. BUT Tuarasi talent or others like her did not go "viral" while in college and result in a national following.

Clark has a charisma that the others never displayed.

She is in the right place, at the right time, with the skill set and the personality to become the sensation that she is. The white haters, like Taurasi, are just jealous.

The other haters are mad that the first female with the popularity of a Jordan is white and straight.

Whatever her politics are she should take a page from Jordan and keep to herself. After all, republicans by tennis shoes too.

Really, the haters are just such a small portion of all of the player in the WNBA that they really don't count for much. Unless this was a publicity plan from the beginning, it will likely disappear fairly soon.

Until is does, it will mostly just amuse me. CC is already at a point financially that she could retire and go golfing and styling for the rest of her life if that's what she wanted to do. But that's unlikely, because she has a solid hook into Pro B-Ball now and so she can control what she needs to until she's ready to move on to something else.

From the little bits that I've seen, the WNBA looks to be more fun and interesting to watch than the NBA.
Well, at least the games where CC is involved anyway....

Claiming that America is a Racist Nation is nothing but total BS propagated by the radical left.
In any population there will always be a small percentage of haters, but most will be decent people.

This is where and how I grew up in the 1950's-60's, and where I live in rural N.FL it's still mostly like this.
