....and this is where Trump falls off....

You weaken your argument and strengthen Trump’s position when you parrot these ridiculous talking points. Trump was talking specifically about the people that were on both sides of the statue debate. If you’ll recall, that’s what started the whole thing. He denounced white supremacists unequivocally.

You are Left of USA Today on this issue, and probably every other issue.

Here’s the transcript of the interview I’d truth matters to you at all:

Trump: "I’m not putting anybody on a moral plane. What I’m saying is this: You had a group on one side and you had a group on the other, and they came at each other with clubs -- and it was vicious and it was horrible. And it was a horrible thing to watch.

"But there is another side. There was a group on this side. You can call them the left -- you just called them the left -- that came violently attacking the other group. So you can say what you want, but that’s the way it is.

Reporter: (Inaudible) "… both sides, sir. You said there was hatred, there was violence on both sides. Are the --"

Trump: "Yes, I think there’s blame on both sides. If you look at both sides -- I think there’s blame on both sides. And I have no doubt about it, and you don’t have any doubt about it either. And if you reported it accurately, you would say."

Reporter: "The neo-Nazis started this. They showed up in Charlottesville to protest --"

Trump: "Excuse me, excuse me. They didn’t put themselves -- and you had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides. You had people in that group. Excuse me, excuse me. I saw the same pictures as you did. You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down of, to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name."

Reporter: "George Washington and Robert E. Lee are not the same."

Trump: "George Washington was a slave owner. Was George Washington a slave owner? So will George Washington now lose his status? Are we going to take down -- excuse me, are we going to take down statues to George Washington? How about Thomas Jefferson? What do you think of Thomas Jefferson? You like him?"

Reporter: "I do love Thomas Jefferson."

Trump: "Okay, good. Are we going to take down the statue? Because he was a major slave owner. Now, are we going to take down his statue?
They love editing/playing the "fine people on both sides" card while ignoring the unedited version.

76 - its one thing to call Nikki, "Nikki 'All Hail the Corporate Donors'" or Nikki "Fail-ey", etc. That is absolutely part of his genius of and in the same quote he called Ron D. "Desanctimonious". Trump has intuitively understood from Reagan that he is part leader and part entertainer.

So, why call her by her birth name? What was the purpose? To show that she is a "poser" and felt that she need to anglicize her name? He plays right back to all of the "birther" accusations that have not helped him and made him truly hated on the left.

On #3 - she voted Republican up through McCain. Her father is a former FBI agent and as true of an "American" as you can imagine. Immigrant, legally, through Italy (and Sweden), she is horrified by what is happening at the border, inflation and the DEI constructs. She sees that there is not a liberal wing anymore, there is a Progressive, Social-Marxist wing. She is a fiscal conservative and social liberal. Essentially, Fresno. Her great-grandfather came over from Italy and worked on Pullman cars.

She is empathetic though, cares about women rights and the environment. She wants people to be kind to each other. @goldmom would see a lot of similarities.

So, she is a moderate, in the middle. She likes Nikki and will vote for her. She has a negative, visceral reaction to Trump.

So, if you are Trump, and you know that you will run away with the primary (which he will), why alienate this group - which, to some extent you will need.

For you, and this is a limited example where @Mdfgator is right, this is where this board goes into "Sheep Mode" and says that "Trump can do no wrong". This is a religious group and Trump has taken on a religious infallability for this board.

My point on Trump continues - when he is disciplined, he is unstoppable. It does not mean pull punches, it means be VERY INTENTIONAL on where you punch. On Ron - he was brilliant.

It also means, for Nikki, let others punch for you. Chris C. took down Nikki perfectly - which Trump even said on FoxNews. You want to be a barbarian? Just run an add of Christie saying that about Nikki all over NH.

Game over and Trump did not have to give any fodder to the media to sway moderates.
I am never wrong, absolutely never.

No he doesn't. It would be death blow if he started pandering to people who hate him.

75MM is enough to win a free and fair election, and at his current trajectory he'll easily surpass that.
I will disagree here on two points. He does not need to pander, but he does not need to commit unforced errors.

It is unclear whether those votes will be enough. I think he needs to get 80-81M. It also matters, immensely, the WHERE of the votes. He could not get one vote in CA or NY (winner takes all states, I believe) and his electoral count won't change.

In MI, WI, PA, VA, etc. they matter terribly.

Again, Trump is smart. He knows he needs a higher proportion of Suburban Women:

He just gets undisciplined from time to time on what he says. And that is the third point of disagreement is that there are individuals who vote with a higher mix of emotion than facts. I would say, that "of course" that is true. Not all decision making is purely rational - in any context. People differ in their mix of the Rational and Emotional.

p.s. if you were to say that Biden is WAY worse than Trump, I would completely agree. Look no further than his Elton John comment....

I am a diehard conservative Repub and seriously hope that Trump wins the upcoming election. I also appreciate my fellow Americans who support the same cause. However, I do not understand being stupid as part of your campaign efforts. For example, when Trump, at the rally on Jan 5, urged his supporters to go to the capitol and protest (peacefully) I recognized immediately that this was stupid. There was nothing to be gained and as it turned out a lot to be lost. Yet I don;t know that Trump and/or some of his supporters have ever seen this type of action as stupid. It seems that Tump in some ways has to be like a bull in a China shop and so we are stuck with that. I see the problem with female voters that Diddy points out and think let's keep the focus on the major issues and stop providing stupid fodder for the Dems, Getting people to vote against Trump is the only way Biden has a chance of winning.

Spot on - especially the last point.
Getting people to vote against Trump is the only way Biden has a chance of winning.

Very good and fact based post on the issues of Nikki. I am social liberal (in general), but parental rights come first.

My biggest (personal) concern and to your last point is on being donor driven. Vivek hit upon this with Boeing. If her donors say, "hey, we need cheap labor, be 'kinder' on the border", then that is a hard stop and a real risk.

Again, good post 76.
Do you know who her biggest donor is?

Reid Hoffman. He is funding the sham Jean Carroll case against Trump. He's also an anti-human, globalist, most likely child raping POS. He's gone all in for Haley.

Ask your wife if she's concerned that Haley's primary donor was buddies with Epstein...it'll prove my point that she'll do anything to vote against Trump.

I disagree that it was stupid.

Trump has so triggered the Left that he's exposed them for the fascist totalitarians that they truly are.

If J6 had not happened we would still have some doubt about just how weaponized the Federal Gov't is against the Conservative movement. And now that the new speaker has allowed the release of ALL of the J6 footage, we will see appeals of some of the non-violent convictions that happened.

And another point - people saw the fvckery in the election. They knew something was wrong, and they wanted their voices heard...all J6 ever was was a protest. The ~200 undercover FBI agents, riot cops who started flashbanging and tear gassing a peaceful crowd, and a handful of MAGA idiots turned it into the scenes the MSM won't let go of. My point is, both sides need to be able to have their concerns heard, and that was the Right's chance.

Washington D.C. and the mainstream media are not going to give the "right" a fair chance to voice their concerns, The world where the media treated us (the right) fairly is long gone.

I agree with all of this. I think the only thing you missed is "strong borders". (perhaps I missed it)

Jamie Dimon - of all people, agrees on Squawk Box.
LOL Remember I am just a HS grad! LOL I am not in the ballpark of eloquence or structure like you and many others. But YES..the most important item this election(not to me...to the voting public that has been surveyed) is border security.

Agree 100%.

And now, since all that has happened since Covid started, we have hard evidence this is true. No more tin foil hats.

Sometimes you have to let them expose themselves...

I do know who Reid Hoffman is. Founder of LinkedIn. (great site, btw)

She does have direct animus against Trump, there is no question. The question that I have posed to her is who do YOU want to see fix the border.

She agrees that it is not Biden, at all. She is a (relatively) low-information, and a (relatively) emotive voter. It is what it is. Telling her about Epstein island, is like describing some rare and unique species in a remote part of the globe. She has a job, two girls to raise, a mother with increasing early onset dementia, etc. She gets snippets of information. She is not alone in this.

All of her rational interests say, "vote Trump".

But when she sees, Trump delve into calling Nikki by her Indian name, it plays back all of the PTSD she has on Trump.

So my point, continues, is what did Trump gain by calling Nikki by that name? Did YOU go all of a sudden, "oh crap, that's her name, I need to vote for Trump". Nothing is gained.

The MSM though pounces on it for all of the swing voters, in swing states, and plays on fears of individuals like my wife, who are trending to vote for Trump. Trump is no idiot. He knows this.

Again, this is a narrow, simple point that Northern got immediately. Just be disciplined and don't give the MSM unnecessary fodder.

Trump could have made all of the points you made by simply running a video of Christie in NH - a shill put up by the MSM.

You're essentially asking Trump to not act like Trump to convince someone who hates him to not vote for him anyway.

I don't understand the logic.

And he didn't use her "Indian name", he made up a nickname for her like he does everyone else. CNN is twisting the story to play the most overplayed liberal card they have.

I don't like nor dislike it, but it's part and parcel to the aggressive, plain speaking businessman that has been one of the most successful politicians in modern history.

I am saying "pick your shots", that is all as you have people who are finally on the fence and willing to vote for Trump as Biden and his progressive marxist left is not just a fringe, but is where the energy is on the left.

It would be like him making fun of a jewish guy by making some joke of picking up pennies. (again, I am part jewish) You have plenty in the middle, like Bill Ackman, who are close to voting for him, do mean spirited stuff like my example, and you turn someone off who is ready to come over.

Now, your #3 paragraph is the perhaps the most important part. I did not see the speech. If you are saying that he used a variant of her first name to make a cariacture of her (e.g. Nikki "Fail-ey") then that is different and more nuanced. If he just used her name, plainly, then that is achieves little to nothing and is an unforced error.

On #4, yes, he needs to be aggressive - to Biden, but stay on message: border, inflation, age, deep state, hunter biden, failed wars, essentially everything that @Capt Ron 1 laid out, then he will win. What won't win is taking a shot at Jill Biden. It's unimportant and mean-spirited.

See the difference?

While I agree...your side OPENLY disagrees with you. I AM MAGA. Do you know what that is? (I will speak for ALL MAGA, as ALL of my friends and family feel this way) We believe in American exceptionalism. We believe America is THE GREATEST Country on the planet. We want America to be "Land of the free, home of the brave". We 100% BELIEVE IN AND FOLLOW our Constitution. We know what a Constitutional Republic is, and the differences between it and a democracy. We believe in EQUALITY...NOT EQUITY. We believe EVERYONE SHOULD vote...and you should HAVE to show a picture ID to make sure you are who you say you are. We believe in Capitalism and the American dream, and EVERYONE should have the same opportunity to reach it. Almost ALL of us think we are ONE NATION, under God. We believe in a STRONG military, and that we need speak softly and carry a big stick, and do not be afraid to use that stick if needed. We believe there is ONLY 2 genders(speaking scientifically of course) and that for as long as time...that is all there ever will be. We believe that there is a deep state that wants to remain in power, and the ONLY candidate that they fear is Donald Trump...and that makes us appreciate him even more. Lastly..we KNOW and understand Trump says things sometimes that makes us cringe...but we like low gas prices, low inflation, no surrenders leaving billions of dollars in weapons to our enemy, no world wars MUCH better than a few words, because words really do not hurt that bad.

AND ANYONE feel free to tell us ALL WHAT IS BETTER today than when Trump was in office. I will name 10 to every one that you name, that is better under Trump than Hussein obama OR FJB. Any takers?
First point to address is bolded section #1....it is interesting to me that all your friends and family feel the same way. Its completely different for me and I think it does explain some things. All you get is one side of the story from those close to you, so how could you believe something different (not saying that to be critical). I have lived in New York, Florida, Los Angeles and Tennessee and have had friends from pretty much every side of the cube. And my family is split on issues as well. So much so it has led to a few family issues (not with me directly, but extended family members).

But what that has taught me is that most (not all) of these issues are complex and there are good points that can be made on both sides most of the time. Neither side is just made up of idiots or bad people.......and if you think that I suggest you expand your horizons. I have good friends on both sides of the street and they are all good people, they just view the world differently. Left vs Right issues are just part and parcel of any democracy.

That's all I have time for right now....will come back at a later time.

I will tell you EXACTLY what it explains....I choose not to have friends who support open borders, DOJ involved in election interference, FBI lying on FISA warrants to commit treason, 34 genders, appeasement foreign policy that creates weakness that our enemies JUMP on to embolden our worst enemies, removing Houthies from the terror list IMMEDIATLEY after entering office to appease Iran, and putting America LAST, instead of first. You see....I tried to not let that influence who I let hang around me...but unlike MOST lefties, I LOVE America with every bit of my heart...so people that I believe HURT our Nation simply CANNOT be frinds with me anymore. The RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA lie..coupled with exactly ZERO lefties being upset that THEIR party created this whole situation, and after they got caught being 100% responsible for the entire mess...NOT ONE person has ever owned up to it. Couple that with a stolen election, and the lies made up when Trump nominated his justices...lefties are just not my kind of people. In fact...with all of my heart, I believe lefties, and people who vote for them are America's # 1 enemy. Most are just too stupid to know the dmaage they cause this great Nation. I will leave you with this. EVERYONE that can fog a damn mirror KNOWS FJB is 100% responsible for the border crisis. If you do not think that there are VERY, VERY bad characters out there that want to do our Nation harm...and they they are not coming across that border in unbelievable numbers....go investigate how many Chinese are coming...And if you cannot figure out that the ONLY way Chinses could ever get there is that if their government allows for them to do so...you do not understand Chjinese politics. Not to mention muslim terrorists that LOVE to blow up innocent people. So sorry......I gave it many years....but I KNOW what is happening here...and I am NOT ok with it, and refuse to be silent.

He used her name given at birth. What is the issue here? This is the same thought process that gave us the concept of misgendering. I’m pretty sure her parents fully expected people to use the name they gave her. Good grief. If this makes people want to vote for dems, then let ‘em have it. Let the Guatemalan street gangs take over, they would probably call her Nikki. Moderates are the people that modernity has saved from survival of the fittest. Nature would have weeded these people out by now.

I just find it quite comical that we are more concerned with Trump calling Nikki Nimrata, and we think that is mean to the point that it’s the line in the sand. Instead of…

The real evil. That we had people on the left and Fauci, literally responsible for murdering millions to manipulate an election. (Folks, they told you they were going to do it, prior to doing it).

So let me get this straight, calling someone Nimrata, upsets folks more than their government committing mass murder to stay in power?

Tell me you’re easily manipulated by the media without telling me.

Yikes.

The sooner folks realize there aren’t 2 parties, and 95 percent of Washington is not there on behalf of their constituents, the sooner we will make real progress.

Right, the solution to Trump being a jackass is for other people to have thicker skin.
No, the solution is..he will not change, but hopefully the world is not full of idiots with thin skin that him ruffling their little sissy feathers does not bother them more than open borders, 9% inflation, world war, DOJ election interferance, etc. Where do you stand? Mean tweets get your lil panties in a wad?

Or….. you can get used to having the third world moving in next door, and junkies shitting themselves in public…. The thin skinned will decide
But it doesn't have to be that way. Trump doesn't have to be an ass. You'd still vote for him and others would too.
