I will disagree here on two points. He does not need to pander, but he does not need to commit unforced errors.
It is unclear whether those votes will be enough. I think he needs to get 80-81M. It also matters, immensely, the WHERE of the votes. He could not get one vote in CA or NY (winner takes all states, I believe) and his electoral count won't change.
In MI, WI, PA, VA, etc. they matter terribly.

I am a diehard conservative Repub and seriously hope that Trump wins the upcoming election. I also appreciate my fellow Americans who support the same cause. However, I do not understand being stupid as part of your campaign efforts. For example, when Trump, at the rally on Jan 5, urged his supporters to go to the capitol and protest (peacefully) I recognized immediately that this was stupid. There was nothing to be gained and as it turned out a lot to be lost. Yet I don;t know that Trump and/or some of his supporters have ever seen this type of action as stupid. It seems that Tump in some ways has to be like a bull in a China shop and so we are stuck with that. I see the problem with female voters that Diddy points out and think let's keep the focus on the major issues and stop providing stupid fodder for the Dems, Getting people to vote against Trump is the only way Biden has a chance of winning.

And another point - people saw the fvckery in the election. They knew something was wrong, and they wanted their voices heard...all J6 ever was was a protest. The ~200 undercover FBI agents, riot cops who started flashbanging and tear gassing a peaceful crowd, and a handful of MAGA idiots turned it into the scenes the MSM won't let go of. My point is, both sides need to be able to have their concerns heard, and that was the Right's chance.

She does have direct animus against Trump, there is no question. The question that I have posed to her is who do YOU want to see fix the border.
She agrees that it is not Biden, at all. She is a (relatively) low-information, and a (relatively) emotive voter. It is what it is. Telling her about Epstein island, is like describing some rare and unique species in a remote part of the globe. She has a job, two girls to raise, a mother with increasing early onset dementia, etc. She gets snippets of information. She is not alone in this.
All of her rational interests say, "vote Trump".
But when she sees, Trump delve into calling Nikki by her Indian name, it plays back all of the PTSD she has on Trump.
So my point, continues, is what did Trump gain by calling Nikki by that name? Did YOU go all of a sudden, "oh crap, that's her name, I need to vote for Trump". Nothing is gained.
The MSM though pounces on it for all of the swing voters, in swing states, and plays on fears of individuals like my wife, who are trending to vote for Trump. Trump is no idiot. He knows this.

If you are saying that he used a variant of her first name to make a cariacture of her (e.g. Nikki "Fail-ey") then that is different and more nuanced. If he just used her name, plainly, then that is achieves little to nothing and is an unforced error.

First point to address is bolded section #1....it is interesting to me that all your friends and family feel the same way. Its completely different for me and I think it does explain some things. All you get is one side of the story from those close to you, so how could you believe something different (not saying that to be critical). I have lived in New York, Florida, Los Angeles and Tennessee and have had friends from pretty much every side of the cube. And my family is split on issues as well. So much so it has led to a few family issues (not with me directly, but extended family members).
But what that has taught me is that most (not all) of these issues are complex and there are good points that can be made on both sides most of the time. Neither side is just made up of idiots or bad people.......and if you think that I suggest you expand your horizons. I have good friends on both sides of the street and they are all good people, they just view the world differently. Left vs Right issues are just part and parcel of any democracy.
