Amy Coney Barrett has become a problem.

So is that supposed 6-3 Conservative majority really a 4-5 Conservative deficit when you factor in John Roberts who's usually a problem?
Amy Coney Barrett=A Real Disappointment

Cant remove a judge just because she gave a few rulings you don't like. Bannon is just outrage farming.

I think her and Kavanaugh have an agreement to take turns being Roberts 5th vote on BS rulings. For Roberts it's just trying to act like you aren't the bad guy to lefties. Gorsuch has good legal reasoning when he differs from the other conservatives at least.

She is not going to be removed, which was stupid for him to even suggest. But that was not my point and I should have referenced some other article where that is not mentioned. The point remains that she is a (big) problem.

I hope Barrett doesn't turn out to be another David Souter, maybe the worst Republican pick ever. A pick of George H. W. Bush.

Then Dubya picked John Roberts.

Not a great track record from the Bush presidents.

Stevens is the one I mostly remember. Crazy lefty once in there. Either Nixon or Ford nominated him I think.

Has there ever been a nomination that was supposed to be more liberal that went conservative? I can't remember one but there are quite a few that were closet lefties it seems.

I forgot about Stevens, nominated by Ford. Stevens may have been the worst.
To answer your question, I don't recall it going the other direction.

I did a quick search and they tried to use Byron White as an example of going more conservative but it was mostly on crap like police and 4th amendment stuff I think where like a lot of conservatives always twisting stuff to say the police didn't violate someone's 4th amendment rights. It's why I liked Scalia the most as he never fell into that trap like most conservative justices. I don't remember hearing about Byron White when I was younger but I guess he was on the court until the early 90s.

Roberts is a big gubmint republican. His thinking is backwards in that his default is to allow the gubmint to do what it wants unless a strong case is made against. The default should be its unconstitutional unless the gubment can prove otherwise. Individual liberty as long as it is not used for licentiousness should be the guide.

Other rulings

I think they kicked it back down to a lower court to flesh out. It irritates me when they do that but this is not over yet. And I think it to pay for things that have already been spent. I dont think it stops him from blocking things going forward.

I still think Scalia got "Hillary'd". They refused to do an autopsy on him when the family requested it.

While the President can't remove a SC justice, they can still be recalled by the Sovereign Citizens.
One of the ways: " if justices lied in their confirmation hearings about their intent"
The framers of the U.S. Constitution included a process to do just that, with the impeachment process.
To convict and then remove the justice or judge, the Senate requires a two-thirds majority.
So while it has never been done so far, it can be done.
The Supreme Court is only supreme to the lower courts, they are not Supreme Beings....
