The idea of just making the post season being the measuring stick for the success of a coach at THE University of Florida is absurd. Any coach worth his salt will say that the #1 goal of every Gator team is winning the SEC and in 7 years the best our men's BB team has done is finish 3rd. The other years we weren't really in the hunt. How long does anyone think our baseball and softball coaches would last if their best SEC finish in 7 years was 3rd place? But they made the 64-team NCAA tournament field, they're doing a great job!!?? C'mon. Since Mike White has been in Gainesville, here are the following SEC titles won by UF:
Baseball - 2 regular season, 1 tournament
Men's Swimming & Diving - 7
Men's Tennis - 2 regular season - 1 tournament
Men's Indoor Track & Field - 2
Men's Outdoor Track & Field - 2
Women's Golf - 1
Gymnastics - 4
Lacrosse - 6 regular season - 6 tournament
Soccer - 1 regular season, 2 tournament
Softball - 5 regular season - 2 tournament
Women's Tennis - 2 regular season, 2 tournament
Women's Outdoor Track & Field - 1
Volleyball - 3
That's 52 SEC championships, with all the spring sports still competing in the 7th year since Mike White took over Men's Basketball at the University of Florida. And most other years, when these programs didn't win the SEC, they were in the hunt and oftentimes finished 2nd or 3rd. And UF has won 9 national titles over the last 7 years as well, plus finished in the Top 5 for the Director's Cup for the best all around athletic program in the NCAA every year during that time. Men's Basketball is not pulling it's weight and with it being the #2 revenue sport on campus, it should be doing much better.
