Football A New Way Forward...

One thing everyone should agree on right now is CFB is in a huge mess. The conditions that existed when Napier was hired have completely flipped (NIL and portal) traditional ways of building a football program. Napier and UF decided on old school recruiting and developing with trying to fill holes with the portal as opposed to "season long rentals of players". But just as quickly as NIL and portal hit, regulation will probably happen just as fast. None of the "powers that be" seem to be happy. I predict in a few years the Nil will have a salary cap and there will be significant penalties for a player that attempts his second transfer. (At minimum I think he would need to lay out a year and that would stop those re-transfers significantly.
So what is the process to build a football team after that? No one knows but I am guessing it go back to the traditional power programs recruit, develop their players and fill holes with the portal. and I'm sure there will be more bag dropping if the NIL adopts a salary cap. But isn't that what CFB has been doing all along, even today?
With college football in such a disarray I think this would be a terrible time to fire Napier, I don't care what his W-L records are at this point. He has recruited an awesome amount of offensive playmakers and to me the number one priority is to keep this talent in Gainesville. Changing everything will most probably mean another rebuild from scratch.
My suggestion is to fix the defense first. And my suggestion for DC is someone I bet most of you have never heard of: Jimmy Rogers HC at South Dakota State University. After you quit laughing, research him:
He became the DC at SDSU in 2022 and SDSU won the FCS National Championship (14-1)
He was named HC at SDSU in 2023 and once again SDSU won the FCS National Championship and he was named National Coach of the year. (15-0)
But you may say, "look at that crappy conference" Well the Missouri Valley Conference of which SDSU belongs is probably tougher than The Great Plains Conference where DeBoer cut his teeth.
When things seem to be a disaster don't blow up the building, again. That has been tried and how did that work out? Try to fix the biggest problem first, DEFENSE. Why not give Rogers a shot? Getting him out of South Dakota may be the toughest part, he was at FAU a while and went back home. However he is only making $300k per year, offer him $2 million (most likely life changing money for him) and give him the keys to the defense. Could it be any worse?
Let Napier continue the offense, if the defense can get the opposition off the field without leaving the Gators in a hole his offense may look a whole lot better. If not, he must hire an OC that is calling plays. But all of this can work...in theory. If anyone has a better theory than hiring the most expensive HC we can afford that will come here (retreads?)....I am all ears.
If that doesn't work and Rogers is doing well on D, he has proven he can go from DC to HC without missing a step.
Out of the box thinking. Now rip me apart!

Football How to call a game with suspect O Line

Right now, Tampa Bay is putting on a clinic against the Philadelphia Eagles on how you execute a quick passing game when your offensive line is suspect. Three step drops, quick release passes, slants and outs, and generally not holding the ball forever. I hope Billy is watching this so he can utilize some of this in his game plan, but we know he won’t.

I did a search on…

Sad’s Net Worth and Google came back with an LOL? It’s amazing how those who don’t support the football program monetarily are the ones who know all about the NIL, the Portal and what The University of Florida is doing wrong in those areas. And I love the comments about how Strickland is the worse A.D. ever and Muschamp according to Sad was the worse coach ever. When’s the last time we went 11-2 and tied for 1st in the East? Asked once if he can recruit by a reporter he responded, “Hell yeah, have you seen my wife?”

Strickland hasn’t been the best but, look back over the Gator past and you’ll find a 0-10-1 1979 football team and very little success until SOS took over. And basketball was terrible besides a few years until Billy D. came along. They said the same about Jeremy Foley despite some success.

Do your research youngsters and those who have never paid Rivals a Dime.

Jason, any luck chasing down yesterday’s awful rumors?

This deserves its own thread:

THIS MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE MOST DISTURBING BLURB/RUMOR THAT YOU HAVE EVER REPORTED:

“Here are some things people have sent me trying to confirm.”

“Jeremy Foley feels "badly" about not hiring Charlie Strong earlier and wants to right a wrong before he steps away from the University of Florida. “

“Charlie Strong was in Gainesville this past weekend or thereabouts.”

THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT ARE SO DISTURBING ABOUT THIS.

1. F… FASCIST “HOLIER THAN THOU” FOLEY
HE’S ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS WHERE IN THE POSITION WE ARE IN. (if it wasn’t for My Attorney Bernie essentially bringing Meyer from Utah in 05 over Foley’s head, our DOWNWARD SPIRAL would’ve started way sooner.) Also if you want to go 15 years earlier: had Bill Arnsberger not hired SOS in 1990 before Foley got in, who knows how bad we would’ve been? Forget Vanderbilt, we could have been the SEC version of Rice.

2. WHAT IS FOLEY STILL DOING IN GAINESVILLE? (that’s rhetorical, since everybody knows he still lurking the hallways along with his deep state minions, and collecting a big fat paycheck for continuing to handcuff the program overall. Then when anything goes right, he shows his big ugly mug for the camera front & center.)

What can we do to get him the f….. out of Gainesville??

3. I made a joke the other day about him being named our GM; and now based on this post of a rumor, it makes it seem like he’s having a part (or maybe even a huge part) in determining who will become our GM ??

IF THAT’S THE CASE, WE MIGHT AS WELL DISMANTLE THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM NOW., concentrate on basketball and baseball.

4. He feels “badly” about not hiring Coach Strong ???? WHY????? Solely because Coach Strong is African-American ????? it certainly has nothing to do with what Strong did at Texas or South Florida

And what a self-serving statement by Foley at this juncture.

5. Coach Strong is certainly a solid ex-Gator, but he has called some horrendous games, mostly by going super vanilla and conservative.
One of his worst: was making Brock Berlin look like the second coming of Joe Montana.

Our defense needs to go in the opposite direction of where it’s been going, and coach Strong would simply continue the exact same type of playcalling we’ve been seeing the last decade

6. Depending on how the next few weeks play out : there are already so many ways this whole situation could go sideways, or worse, for us.

However if any of these rumors are true: the likelihood of going off a cliff never being able to recover is that much higher

Voice of the Gators - Sean Kelley

We have had a few years of Sean Kelley and just curious about people's opinion of him? I'm not a fan and wouldn't mind him being replaced at some point. Pretty non-descript voice, vanilla and does not seem like a natural fit as the voice of the Gators. My friends and I were talking about it at the last game and maybe he is getting lumped into the negativity but just curious if my feelings about him are on point or off-base with a lof of fans....
