Basketball Todd

I have received a boatload of texts and DM’s asking about the men’s basketball program. I have been arguing with myself about whether or not I should post.

I am too close to the situation and I am not gonna talk about any of the details or allegations. I just want you guys to keep an open mind and understand that not everything you read is accurate. You’ve only heard one side of the allegations. These allegations did not surface within the last few days. They have been out there a while. I have been in contact with Todd multiple times today.

I too am the father of a daughter. If these allegations all prove to be true, I would want him gone- despite my relationship with him.

I will also say this, there is a ton of false information out there. The talk about a meeting with the UAA and the basketball team tomorrow morning is 100% not true.. Our team will be practicing tomorrow as normal.

This is not a joke- democrats are desperate

Full disclosure and Background: I’m a registered Republican but my wife was and is a registered democrat, dating back to win we lived in Jax and government officers were generally run by democrats and she wanted a say in the primaries. She has some ideological Liberal views which I don’t think are well represented today by the left (that side has gone to crap imo) but we do talk politics quite a bunch because that’s what partners in life do, simply to understand each other’s positions better. It doesn’t always end well but a disagreement on something is just that, we’re both navigating life together regardless as one team.

So I return from a sales trip and we’re sitting at the breakfast table together yesterday and my wife tells me we received a package on the door. It was addressed to her and buried in the text was an intimidation statement saying “we have ways of finding out who you are voting for”. She’s also shown me a democratic email which intimated them being “pissed iff” she hadn’t responded to some request they sent her and also asking how she was voting, and making offers to put her on some democratic council as a ploy to regain support (my thoughts not hers imo) but it’s totally turned her off. She was voting for Trump regardless in 2024 because of the weak ticket and the last 4 years. (she did vote for Biden in 2020 because she fell for the bad orange man propaganda but she know the current regime stalled us in long term wealth which is undeniable)

I’m writing this for 2 reasons. 1) curious if anyone else has heard about or seeing things like this in the mail or email from the left and 2) sharing how desperate and ruthless they are getting to resort to these tactics by attempting shame or intimidation within their own party to get them back lost votes. In my own wife’s words, “I’m horrified this is what elections are coming to” but regardless of who they nominate going forward, they have a tough sell with her for years to come. Sorry for the long post but felt relevant background was needed.

Post election night reflection: A few thoughts

Wow, that has been a wonderful past 36 hours. Makes me want to drop my Marriott Titanium Status, sell my Audi A7 and drive a new Tesla-S (Elon, my guy...love ya) Miss Diddy to a Trump Tower for an enjoyable evening in the Trump Tower in Chicago. To quote my 21 and 23 year old girls (both of whom voted for Trump) - "not even cappin', my guy".

Trump has changed the republican party. He has changed me. Regardless of what our favorite castaway, MDFGator says, I am no sheep. The Democratic party though changed me more.

Some thoughts, some of these are repeats from a prior thread with the Captain.

1. Trump ran a (mostly) disciplined, brilliant campaign. He brought great energy and listened to his advisors (not often a strength).
2. He doubled down on his base and the "bro" vote. I thought that he could have sent off Haley to pick off more suburban women to help swing congressional districts, but that is a nit-pick. It is not what I would have suggested - but it worked.
3. The Democratic establishment kicking Trump off of Twitter was the second dumbest thing ever. It showed him what discipline looked like.
4. The Democratic establishment practicing lawfare did more to swing black and hispanic men to Trump then almost anything Trump could have done. He played it brilliantly. The dumbest thing ever.
5. JD Vance was a perfect pick. Credit Donald Trump, Jr. for that pick and the All In Podcast bros. JDV is smart and he can go on any Sunday news show and put liberal anchors in their place.
6. Vivek was a godsend. He was like JDV and could also go onto all of the shows and even places like Charlamagne the God and hold his own and distinguish himself.
7. 6 and 7 are a theme. What turned me off about Pence, Noem, Palin, was that there were only "moderate" intelligence individuals. They got worked on all of the Sunday shows. It was embarrassing. JDV and Vivek NEVER flinch; they win their shows and then produce brilliant viral themes that go on all of the social media platforms
8. Embracing the TikTok era - Trump "got out the vote" because he was relentlessly on social media and then tied into all of the new media sources like Ben S., like Megan K., like Rogan., etc. etc. No longer was this working through the legacy media hegemony of Fox, CNN, etc. DJTjr was brilliant on TikTok. Quietly got out - in droves, the bro vote without knocking on a single door. Brilliant.

Also - some of his comments became low-key bangers on TikTok when creators put sick beats to his comments. Eating the dogs, eating the cats. Dance party with Beyonce, etc. were as viral as Charlie XCX and Chappelle Roan at point.

9. He downplayed Abortion - and made it a non-issue. My two daughters were like - "yeah, we want the Government the F out of our bodies. I do not want an old white dude telling me what to do when some frat bro didn't pull out in time, condom broke, etc. That old white guy is not paying my bills, supporting my career, etc.....BUT, Abortion is already legal in Michigan. Discussion over. I am voting for Trump". Trump listened.
10. He focused relentless on our #1 issue - immigration. I was a one issue voter. And he hit it again, and again, and again, and again.

So many other thoughts, but damn it feels so good right now. I saw a video of Charlie Kirk crying and getting a hug from his wife when he got the news. Yeah, I feel you man.

Happy Thursday, my peeps.

Football No one expected us to win

Why is this an excuse? I keep hearing it. You do realize being an underdog in most of your games is an indictment. Not an excuse. It’s not year 1. You want 2 years of lame recruiting classes or just 1? That’s the question. No assistant, no recruit, no portal player worth a damn is coming here this offseason. You bring back this crew and it’s the same story next offseason.

Issues are two big to overcome

A new offensive coordinator isn’t fixing the 3 years of historic terrible defense. We are on our 3rd defensive coordinator. Recruiting is currently dead under this staff. Currently in the high 50s Talent evaluation is suspect as we watch multiple plays excel at other schools. Every school has money to spend why would top players come here for 1-2 years.

The head coach is needing a letter of support in year 3. This stuff doesn’t get turned around. Talk about us beating a dead horse. Top boosters don’t throw your money at a dying program.

We are the University of Florida. THE mother Fing SWAMP. This coach has drained the lure of the swamp. He is not the answer and 6-6 next year is not the answer. Injuries happen. We can not bring him back for one player.

SS and the athletic department made a mistake he was not the guy. You don’t throw more money at him to put a bandaid on the issues.

We must move on!!! The fans will not continue to come. Again we are not a joke we are mother Fing University Of Florida.

For the boosters -- if you are going to keep Napier, forcing him to hire an OC

for @bblake08 @Heisman Gator 1 @kcflagator

First off, a significant "thank you" for all that you do financially, emotionally, and other both for the program and this community we have hear.

I was at the game yesterday. We actually did not look that bad outside of Warner - a good, intelligent young man with limited tools and very poor secondary tackling. We have significant issues with injuries as well. We controlled the lines of scrimmage well. Perhaps surprisingly, that was not our issue.

On Napier, I can fully appreciate that none of you want to reach into your personal balance sheet and write, collectively, significant checks ($40M+) to have a new Head Coach and series of assistants. I saw what we all saw and agreed with Nick Saban that our teams have indeed showed strength and "won the first half" of many games against top 10 opponents.

Napier's biggest issue remains as Offensive Coordinator. I called this out over two years after the Kentucky game. Little has changed.

I am partner in a global consulting firm and run our strategy business of one of the global Hyperscalers. I will not share which one.

When we work with executive teams and boards who are underperforming, we work with then to force changes that the individual executives may not want to make. There is likely nothing in your contract with Billy to force him to hire a new OC.

Force him to hire a new one anyways. You can put plenty of pressure on him through many other avenues. Yes, there is an election analog here which I will not explicitly cite.

Pay that person a significant sum with a performance package (based on both W/L, recruiting and offensive output) that aligns his total compensation package with results. Finding a "hot shot" OC is far easier than a new HC. Go hire Lane's OC. You may pay him a 50% bump in base and a 100% jump in total compensation.

That Gator Nation does need to see a change, but can fully appreciate that in today's NIL and monopolistic agent structure, it is not reasonable to ask individuals like yourselves who do not have money coming from their land holdings in the Permian Basin (UT Austin has a ton of oil money, incredible to see) to make these kind of persisted investments.

In the end, you all will do what you think is right and reasonable. Whatever that is, whether it is some form of the above or another path completely, thank you for your commitment to the University and the program.

Go Gators.

Norvell situation could be our situation down the road

Norvell won at a high level with a really great QB and a stellar transfer portal class. After their departure, because HS recruiting was so poor the cupboard was bare. Jordan Travis, covered a lot of coaching warts that are now evident at FSU. Not only coaching warts, but the lack of HS recruiting has sunk them.

My worry is that if Billy hangs all of his success on Lags and HS recruiting doesn't pick up dramatically we could find ourself in a huge hole after this run is over-I heard many people saying we will go all in on the portal next year to win immediately. While I admire the effort, if we don't continue to build the program through stellar HS recruiting where will be be in another 2 years?

Some might say, worry about that later. But looking at what has happened to FSU it has to be something that needs to be top of mind. Let's say Billy has 8 wins next season with lagway and portal and we extend him. We could be exactly where FSU ended up.

Unless HS recruiting gets better we can't survive off the portal. Recruiting took a nose dive this time last year and has not recovered. THIS HAS TO BE SOMETHING THAT IS CONSIDERED when deciding Billy's future. You cannot live and die by the portal. We see where that has gotten teams and and it can be an unrecoverable situation especially if we have to sign an extension NEXT YEAR.

Batteries cost more than the car

Now we know why Strickland made the statement last week

Obviously, he knew we could get blown out by Texas and that Lane was getting Georgia in Oxford.

Imagine how ridiculous Strickland (he does not deserve his name spelled correctly) would have looked if he made the same support statement this coming week, instead of last week?

Also: imagine the Lane Kiffin wild speculation

Meh - Yesterday was fine

While we took a beat down yesterday, watching Miami get beat and hearing Booger say how Mario's bad coaching finally caught up to him was glorious. Georgia getting beat and Beck looking worse and worse was fun. FSU getting dismantled by ND was mind boggling to see how bad FSU is. While I hate Bama, what I did not want to see was these teams battle it out and both look great. LSU got man handled at home.

Bottom line, We looked awful yesterday, but not sure what people expected... Texas had a week off after we lost a heart breaker and our star QB last week, not to mention a ton of our players. I wish Billy would have let Warner pass a lot less and just keep running the ball and do more wildcat, but I saw two things.

1. He is not a very good offensive coach with little creativity. I know that is a shocker.

2. He could have tried and grind out the game with our rushing attack and probably slowed the game down and kept the margin of defeat down. However, I guess he decided to just play his offense and HOPE our back ups would pull of a miracle.

This second point is where I have an issue with Billy. I don't think there is anyway we win that game with Warner and 2nd and 3rd string DB's in the game if we play our normal game plan. BUT, there were no wrinkles added to this game to make up for all our injuries. We should have done a bunch of wildcat. Maybe fake a FG or Punt. Do something that is creative, but he does not have that in him. His coaching has to be dragged to victory by talented players and many of them were on the sideline yesterday.

Bottom line is Billy is not a good day coach... SHOCKER.. If we can win 2 of our next 3 games, I will feel much better, but we will need Lagway to do that. IF everything SR says will happen in the offseason then I am not going to freak out right now. I will support this team and cheer them on and pray that my faith is rewarded next year. See ya'll at the game next weekend. Go Gators!
