The FSU fall started with the bowl game

When the BCS left them out, because they were no longer one of the four best teams (after the Travis injury) that’s when whatever culture Norvell had built, crumbled to the ground. At the time, I told an FSU friend, that quitting, like the entire program did, was a terrible strategic move. My point was, Novell should have used it as a lesson in dealing with adversity. He should have told them that they were going to go play Georgia, and prove to the college football world, that they had made a huge mistake in keepiing them out of the playoff. Instead, Norvell and the program gave them permission to quit. What you are seeing is the result of that inexcusable mistake., and will be a multi year mistake, IMO.

Football Another Lane Post

Ok so OM lost yesterday. The topic of Lane being an underachiever has been a hot topic here.

My question is this, OM has the #20 team talent rating. Even their fans have acknowledged that their roster has holes. Did they buy several players at key positions, yes. Does that make them on par with Alabama, Tx, UGA, etc? No. Was UK a bad loss? maybe. UK almost beat UGA.

I think it's unfair to hold him to some "playoff or bust" or even playoff wins as a measuring stick as to if he would be a successful coach here. OM does NOT recruit HS well, they never have. We all see that teams that rely on the portal don't deliver in the long run. Is it a good strategy for OM? Yes. But don't be fooled that a team can build a complete team via the portal only (see FSU).

What I do think is fair is to judge current OM against historical OM and not judge Lane's full potential based on what he has done at OM THIS season.

Gator Volleyball

I have completely stopped reading or commenting on anything this site that has to do with football. I just don't need that kind of negativity in my life. I will continue to go to games and cheer for our players and coaches and let the powers that be make the decisions. HOWEVER, I will post about other Gator sports because we still have one of the top 5 athletic departments in the country.

HUGE news for the volleyball team this weekend. ALEXIS STUCKY IS BACK!!!! If you don't know her, she is the best setter in the country and maybe the top athlete on our campus. When she went down last year we were undefeated (with several top 10 wins) and leading #1 ranked Wisconsin 2 sets to 0. Understandably, the team was never the same after that. Well, she's back baby! She is still working her way back into form but she made several sets yesterday that very few other setters can make. Her precision location and decision making are unrivaled. Many expect her to eventually be the Olympic setter if she fully recovers. No one on the planet is happier with her return than star RS hitter Kennedy Martin. Martin is a great player but Stucky's setting takes her to another level.

When you also include the addition of stud freshmen middles Alec Rothe and Jaela Auguste and transfer OH Isabel Martin (candidate for national player of the year), the future is bright! I'm so excited to see this team develop as they gain chemistry now that Stucky is back!
