Baseball Three Takeaways from Florida’s sweep vs. Missouri

Three Takeaways from Florida’s sweep vs. Missouri
HECTOR

The Florida Gators earned their first SEC series win of the season last weekend versus the Missouri Tigers. The Gators swept Mizzou at home and improved their conference record to 4-11.

Florida’s starting pitching was excellent and limited Missouri’s offense. The Gators had one of their youngest players come through late in the game to complete the sweep. Here are three takeaways from Florida’s series sweep versus the Missouri Tigers.

Florida earns first SEC series win of the 2025 season

The Florida Gators have had their worst season in conference play during the Kevin O’Sullivan era. However, Florida was able to earn their first SEC win and sweep of the 2025 season.

The Gators hosted the lowly Missouri Tigers and swept them in their three-game series. The Tigers have the worst conference record in the SEC as they are a winless 0-15 with losses to LSU, Ole Miss, Texas, Arkansas, and Florida.

Florida has one more home game before hitting the road for their next SEC weekend series. The Gators will take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs next weekend. Mississippi State has struggled in SEC play with a 4-10 conference record. This will be a huge series for Florida to improve their chances of qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.

2. Florida’s starting pitching shines versus Mizzou

The Florida Gators' weekend rotation had a strong showing against Missouri’s lineup. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Liam Peterson opened the series and had a solid outing. Peterson threw five innings, allowing five hits, two runs, four walks, and seven strikeouts. Peterson improves to 5-2 on the season.

In the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, freshman right-handed pitcher Aidan King also had a strong outing. King pitched 5.1 innings allowing four hits, no runs, one walk, and seven strikeouts. King improved to 4-1 on the season.

In the series finale, sophomore right-handed pitcher Luke McNeillie made his first start of the season. The Peach State native threw four innings allowing two hits, one run, two walks, and five strikeouts. It was an impressive weekend for Florida’s starting pitchers.

3. Brendan Lawson comes through to complete the sweep

Heading into the last inning of the series finale, Florida had the opportunity to walk it off and earned their first SEC sweep. Florida had the bases loaded with one out and freshman Brendan Lawson coming to the plate.

The Canadian-born infielder came through with a walk-off single down the RF line to complete the series sweep over Missouri. Lawson has been one of Florida’s most consistent hitters this season.

He’s slashing .312/.440/.544 with 39 hits, five doubles, eight home runs, 39 RBIs, five stolen bases, a team-high 24 walks, and a .984 OPS. Lawson and the Gators’ offense will hit the road next weekend for their SEC series versus Mississippi State. The Bulldogs have one of the top pitching staffs in the SEC and will be a tough challenge for Florida’s offense.

SEC/NCAA tourney thread

Thought this would be fun to have a thread on since we have several fanbases here besides Gators.

I want to see Bama do well of course, but also wanting to see SEC get the maximum number of schools in.

First round started today. Arkansas won, Miss State as well and Texas upset Vandy. Georgia and OU playing right now.

Both Jerry Palm ad Joe Lunardi have OU in for the moment. Neither had Texas in so their win over the Dores helps. Still think they need at least one more.

Arkansas and Georgia look to be in. OU would be in trouble if they lose tonight.

Experts still say we have a shot at 13 teams. Thoughts?

The TRUMP Rules: Congressional Reform Act of 2017

You think they’re squealing now? I wonder how loud it’ll get if Trump could pull this off.
President Trump is asking everyone to share this, in three days, most people in the United States will have seen the message. This is an idea that should be passed around, regardless of political party.

The TRUMP Rules: Congressional Reform Act of 2017
1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office. And no more perks go with them.
2. Congress (past, present, & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
3. Congress must purchase their own retirement plan, just as ALL Americans do.
4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people (i.e. NO MORE INSIDER TRADING!!!).
7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women. Congress made all these contracts by and for themselves.
Serving in Congress is an honor and privilege, NOT a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators should serve their term(s), then go home and go back to work … not get all kinds of freebies.

NO WONDER THEY’RE FIGHTING EVERYTHING HE TRIES! Pass it on!!!! Let's help TRUMP drain the swamp! Let’s help Trump get the country straightened out!

iG completely agrees with the above. Term limits and treat them like a regular citizen!
Pass it on if you agree.
You will need to copy and paste it.

SOFTBALL: 2025 NFCA DIVISION 1 TOP 25 COACHES POLL WEEK ( 10 )

You may recall that at the beginning of softball this season, I stated that with Oklahoma and Texas in the SEC there would be changes in the rankings on a regular basis. Well, has that proven true, last week was a train wreck for some of the top teams with upsets being the norm. With Texas and Oklahoma losing series, not single games we have a new number 1 in Texas A & M., Well deserved in my opinion. Whether or not they can remain in that lofty position is questionable, With SEC series with just 3 or 4 weeks remaining, we are not going to have to wait a long time. I believe we really have our work cut out for us w/o Rothrock, if she doesn't get back in top shape. Any way, going to be an interesting few weeks to say the least.

WINNING

Living and working in Maryland has been hard. BUT, I am really enjoying listening to the libs/dems in my office bitch/moan/complain about everything Trump has done the past few weeks.

Just today - heard one complaining about the cost of food in general , but especially the cost of eggs, and then wishing ill well on everyone who voted for him. Oh sure, I could have tried to explain that it was Biden and his policies and spending that caused all the problems, and that it will take a little time for Trump to fix the mess that Biden left, including the killing off of millions of chickens to protect against the bird flu, BUT, I knew she wouldn't believe me anyways. So, I just smile a little and laugh to myself listening.

Finest football unis

Ok, hear me out now, haha.....

I'm thinking the cleanest looking football uni would be using:

Helmet - the 70's interlocking UF white letters with blue accent edging on orange helmet;

Jersey - same jersey but put Gators script below the neck in upper center chest and remove Gators head logo;

Pants - same pants but put the 80's UF logo with Gator outline in the U and State outline in the F on the side of the hips like how we had in early 90's;

Color combos - with the above changes, I like all the jersey/pants colors choices i.e. blue/white, orange/white, white/blue, white/orange, blue/blue, orange/orange, white/white, blue/orange, orange/blue.

I like the Gators head, the 50's sweater puffed out chest Gator, and the basic block F that used to be on the center of the field with the regular font letters in the endzones before Meyer got that all scrapped for the ugly edgier slanted looking font but none of those look the best on the unis for a nice clean and detailed look. Keeping the big Gators head on the center of the field is fine since it has a lot of green in it and grass is green, so that blends nice, haha.

California's budget deficit may be billions of dollars larger than the already big number predicted by Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom, raising concerns about the Golden State's fiscal future.
Last month, Newsom announced that California faces a projected budget deficit of $22.5 billion for the coming fiscal year. The figure represented a striking downturn from last year, when the state enjoyed a surplus of about $100 billion due to federal COVID relief and surging capital gains.

Pardon my Gray Poupon.......but isn't this the same state that wants to pay reparations to people who have never been slaves by people who never owned slaves? 😂

Question about NIL and eligibility

With Nico leaving UcheaT with time still left on the semster, how does that affect his eligibility. I am assuming he lefgt campus so does that mean he is no longer enrolled, or do these big NIL deals allow these kids to play ball without actually being enrolled - I am hoping they have to b e enrolled but this thing has gotten so out of hand that it is anybodies guess.

In before the gun confiscation NUTS.....

Come for our weapons. A FEMALE...VERY rare. If they would have taken my AR15 away, Theo thinks this would have never happened!
