FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – 95/247 Gator commit #7 OLB Derek Wingo 6-2 210 **** was presented with his All-American Bowl jersey on Thursday when the All-American Bowl Selection Tour made its first top in sunny South Florida. He has totaled 42 tackles and 10 sacks in 9 games as a senior playing for St. Thomas Aquinas.

Wingo committed to Florida back in June. He said that he's "100 percent" locked in with Dan Mullen and the Gators. With Wingo not wavering on his pledge to Gators, he has instead been busy helping Mullen's staff recruit. The athletic 'backer said that he has not only been pushing Florida on a pair of his high school teammates in Top-247 OT Marcus Dumervil and OG Marlon Martinez, but he's also been in the ear of Deerfield Beach Top-247 RB Jaylan Knighton.

Year after year some make a big deal out of the recruit star rankings.
At UF, the 3-4 stars often out-perform the 5 stars.
BUCK Jonathan Greenard is a former 3 star, #82 ranked OLB.
He's just been named the 2x - Consecutive SEC DL PoW

~~ Greenard named Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week
He'll be yet another Gator 3 star that goes in the 1-2 Rnd of the NFL draft.

While stars and ratings do count, just not as much as some make it out to be... :rolleyes:
 
A Big weekend is coming at Florida:

The Gators will have big official visit lists the next 3 weekends beginning with their primetime showdown with FSU. Holding the No. 13 class in the country, Top247 WR Xzavier Henderson returns, a legacy recruit that arrives with a great feel for the Gators already. UF is in a tight battle alongside Alabama, Clemson and Georgia for Henderson.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Florida move into pole position for Miami (Fla.) Palmetto WR Kenton Poiter who saw Syracuse in the summer and FSU earlier this month.

Dan Mullen and his staff will take their shot at Top247 OLB Phillip Webb who is trending LSU on the Crystal Ball while also strongly considering Auburn and Alabama.

With ESD just around the corner, the recruiting will really heat up beginning with this coming Saturday....

The Florida Gators 2020 recruiting class opened the day ranked No. 8 in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings. UF moved up to No. 6 overall with the commitment of Live Oak (Fla.) Suwannee 4-star OT Joshua Braun. The Gators jumped the Georgia Bulldogs and Texas Longhorns on their climb.

Florida's class is up to No. 4 in the Southeastern Conference. The SEC teams ranked ahead of UF are the Alabama Crimson Tide at No. 1 in the country, LSU Tigers as No. 3, and the Texas A&M Aggies at No. 5.

UF now has the #8 ranked class in the nation.
While that's only good enough for the #6 class in the freakin' SEC...

A Top 10 rated class is important.
After than, player desire and coaching makes the difference in results.

The 2020 OL will continue to be a work in progress. The Gators had nine 1st and 2nd-year players working on the OL in bowl practices, and they'll add 1-2 more for spring ball and likely 1-2 more for the fall.

The new OL, starters and rotation, will not continue to be the problem that it's been for years now. Hevesy is getting it done for the present and he's building it up for the future. A year to year balanced OL roster is on the way.
