Wouldn’t it be something if Kentucky won the East?!?!?

I have been to Oklahoma and OU campus, specifically.

The OU campus ITSELF is fine....NORMAN is NOT very nice. (RAYS BARBQUE IS THE SHIT!)

For the life of me, I cannot figure out how Bob Stoops stayed in Norman for so long. My only guess is that he got out of Norman ALOT....because it is in the middle of nowhere and there is not shit to do there.

I don't mean GAINESVILLE BFE, where the Ocean is an hour away.....NORMAN IS REAL BFE.

Lexington is a much better place to live than most SEC cities. The obvious are Starkville, Gainesville, Baton Rouge, auburn, Tuscaloosa, Oxford.

Only Athens and Knoxville hold a candle to living in Lexington

It's all fun and games until Stoops goes to FSU and Kiffin goes to Bama.
Why would stoops take a step back to a lesser program for an almost certain paycut since they’ll be paying norveLLLLLLLLLLL for the foreseeable future… and he’d better be able to win after a couple years, or they’ll yank him. No thanks. He can get a real job and frankly I’m shocked he hasn’t.

When was the last time kentucky won a game that helped us? They only care about beating us and then they hang it up bc they already won their super bowl. They have no prospects or hopes of winning the east and don’t even care to. Beating a real team is enough. I don’t trust them to even put up half an effort against uga. I’ll be shocked if they score. They’ll lay down against them like they do every year.

Once in a while though UGA channels it’s CMR self and craps the bed.

Florida, Bama, UT and Aub, have always made us crap the bed. But, we have never been as scared when playing UGA over the years.

Have you spent any time in Lexington?

I have lived in Lexington, birmingham, Oxford ms, Tallahassee, Dothan, Destin. I have spent time in Baton Rouge, Starkville, Athens, Knoxville and Gainesville.

Unless, you like to sweat and play golf on Bermuda with small trees, the Midwest has much better golf with its bent grass fairways, huge oak trees and nice summer weather.

How are the beaches in Oklahoma?

I have lived in the South almost all my life. I lived in Naperville, IL for 2 years and now live on Cape Cod, MA. You’re focused on summer, which I agree summers are great up north. But it’s a trade-off. The outdoor season is much shorter and the winters are rough. The last two winters in Chicagoland weren’t bad, but in February I wanted to shoot myself. The snow just would not melt off before more came. Right now on the Cape it’s glorious but that will change soon. It’s all in what’s important to you. I’d go back to Atlanta in a heartbeat if I could,

Some like it hot. Not me, I even take cold showers. I also dig the seasons changing. Good luck this week. I don’t believe we have all the pieces on offense to keep up. I think we’d have to get some turnovers going to keep it competitive. Losing our 2 starting DL and a WR doesn’t help

I’m expecting a physical game and we are a bit banged up. I do believe the team is taking this very seriously just as they did Arky. This UK team is legit.

Just keep it a low scoring game. GA isn't that great on offense imo.

Me personally, golf is the most boring sport I've ever played and the last thing I would base my career on is golf courses.

But I'm not Mark Stoops nor a high level football coach.

But you really said Knoxville as a top SEC city?

I also dislike the Smokeys so I'm biased.

Fayetteville, better mountains and I have heard the golf courses are great. Also beautiful fall and fair summer.

totallt biased due to the weather.

you're really going to say the golf courses in Lexington are better than Florida?

have you lost your mind?

And because...Bermuda? I realize that you have to have cool weather grasses (by the way, let's not pretend Kentucky is "the Midwest"). But seriously? What do you play on? Or rather, what do you think you play on?

I will give you this, the thing that killed me about New Orleans, and a catalyst of why I moved, because the humidity never lets up.

Walk out the door at 6am in January? Still
Muggy, still int the 60s.

meanwhile, in Lexington, you have miserable winters.

just because you love living in that god forsaken state, doesn't mean your coach does, and please don't pretend that your golf courses are better. Stick to horse farms (even though Ocala is just as good) but don't talk about golf in Lexington.

that's a joke.

And I'll add this.

what the **** are you talking about with huge oak trees? You've lived in all these places but apparently you've never seen any of the trees.

you've been to Baton Rouge but I guess you missed the 60 foot tall Live Oaks that have an 80 foot spread of a canopy because their branches come down to the ground. Or the 50-60ft tall Bald Cyprus everywhere.

Or maybe anywhere in Alabama where there are plenty of 60-80+ foot tall oaks and of course equally tall lob lollies.

Ive been to Kentucky, all sides of it, many times, and I've never seen anything nearly as majestic as what you think you're seeing.

and what did you call it? Flat blade grass or some nonsense? You mean fescue? Oh geez color me impressed. If you want real flat blade grasses, go to Florida where St. Augustine can actually grow.

you live in like growing zone 6, maybe 5, which is a joke of a place for plants. It's borderline acceptable for anything good. Try out the sweet spot of zone 7. Sure, Blue Spruce, Colorado Spruce and Laurels don't do quite as well, but neither do podocarpus, bird of paradise, variegated ginger, or Kentucky blue or st.Aug.

but to pretend that your golf courses are better in the Midwest (a place no one but you considers Kentucky to exist) is absolutely laughable.

The weather and golf courses in Lexington are a lot nicer and more relaxing to play on in the summer than in the Deep South, where it is 98 everyday and golf sucks. Stoops loves golfing with buddies and restauranting at night. Lexington’s milder weather is probably a lot more appealing to the ginger from youngstown
Yes, lived in Richmond Ky. The summers are hot and sticky. Just shorter. Then along comes winter, and it's fairly cold. Nah, Kentucky is a very poor state. There are some decent places in downtown Lexington, but nobody is flocking to the state for good reason. And yes, the golf courses in Florida are much better not to mention many more.

He acts like it doesn't get hot and sticky n Kentucky. I lived there, believe me, it does. Winters are fairly cold, but not too horrible. It is very grey in the winter. Biggest issue in Ky is the rampant ignorance as is on display here.

Danny, I want to add that I can't believe he added Oxford, MS as less desirable than Lexington due to trees. Or grass.

It was late when I saw the post and didn't put the energy in it like you did. You took the words out of my mouth.

Golf bores me but I enjoy trees and grass.

Seriously though, if Stoops wants to stay, I understand it. The comfort of the job. Not as pressure packed. Ok if he can't handle warm weather, fine...miss out on a few million more to be cooler about 40 days extra. But golf? If he wants to make a career decision based on golf and restaurants, he can't go wrong in the spots he listed.

Didn’t want to Piss you fine gents off. My Lexington buddies that play golf with stoops and gran and those guys, say that stoops loves to have a good time on the course and at the restaurants. Stoops is a member at LCC, a course I grew up playing on. Lots of fun and lines with 100 foot oaks and lush grass and natural rolling hills. I have heard stoops loves Lexington and the low expectations and we don’t care about football like basketball, so he is not bombarded like cal, who can’t go anywhere.

I played golf for ole miss and FSU, and caddied on tour, so I have played nearly every course in Florida, bama, miss, Ga, Tn, and Ky.

Florida golf is awesome, but it gets old, because it’s all so similar with the flat terrain, water, lack of big trees.

Also someone mentioned Richmond, ky and compared it to Lexington. These two don’t compare. Small poor town vs the good sized town with money.

Stoops is making 5 million plus a year, with low expectations, in a cool place, near ohio, and he can get away with a lot more than he can in a small college only type town. I have heard he likes the NFL

You're right, that 16 miles separating Richmond and Lexington makes all the difference 😂

yes it does!! Small quaint metro area with horse racing, horse farms, breweries, national prominence sport venues, fine dining….. or ya have Richmond which doesn’t have the above, but does have the US army’s collection of nerve gases and toxic weapon waste

yeah, big effing difference

In this case it does not. I've spent plenty of time in Lexington, since I lived about 20 minutes from it. Sure, there are a few cool spots around downtown, Keeneland is beautiful, but there are some cool spots in Shreveport LA but doesn't make it the place everyone wants to flock to and live.

According to Wikipedia, the average summer high is between 92-94 in Lexington during the summer. Thank goodness for indoor practice facilities—something they don’t have at UK—and something that Mark Stoops is on the record as wanting.

Golf in Florida during the summer is sweaty business. But the dry, cool, winters make up for it.

And being close to the ocean prevents extreme heat waves like you occasionally get further inland, even up north. I was in British Columbia a couple of years ago when the temperature got up to 104. I’ve been in Seattle and Minneapolis when it was over 100. And the winter is miserable in those places.
