Wouldn’t it be something if Kentucky won the East?!?!?

Watched the Georgia and Kentucky game today. Georgia doesnt play like we do . They are coached WAY so much better and play with intensity. Dont make dumb mistakes and they play so hard for Kirby.

Yeah, we had to fight for everything we earned today. UGA has a great team and is clearly the favorite to win the NC.

All that said, this thread was fun but UK isn’t winning the East this year without major divine intervention.
UK isnt ever winning the East in my lifetime without major divine intervention.

We just won the East last year. Not a very smart comment by you. UK has never won the East b
I didnt want to go there, but I did take a chance. I was not meant to be a slight on UF. If we talked in person, You might see what I am talking about.

Paco. Maybe you never got the memo that my family has deep roots in UF also.

Well I said in my lifetime and it is impossible for Mullen to coach UF for the rest of my lifetime but with that said Mullen has won an East title and yes he may not never win another one. UF will definitely win an East again.
However every program in the East has won an East title except for Vandy and UK.

What do consider a East Title and what date do you start with?

Clever. From the guy who doesn’t know what bent grass is

You know, I'm a little confused.

does Stoops not like Florida golf courses because they're too hot and ugly or is it because he's not a good golfer and they're too difficult for him?

Seems like if you're a bad golfer, maybe golf courses wouldn't be a factor at all in where you make your millions of dollars.

Prolly both. My guess is golf will not play much of a roll in his decision. I think the bigger draws will be location, expectations, and schools football budget. Unless, he has a huge ego, I think he’d be foolish to walk away from 5-6 million a year for more stress with higher expectations.

I actually don't disagree with you. But if he has aspirations to get a championship, he's probably going to have to make a move to big program (and I realize that the ones we're discussing are down, but they have bough recent history).

some people are content with cruising through on a good gig like what he has, but then again, coaches, especially ones at the top levels of their sport, tend to be pretty competitive.

These coaches want the high profile jobs. Most of them have egos. And Danny is right, if he has any aspiration of winning a natty he will need to make a change. Personally, I would sit right there in Lexington, have the occasional 9-10 win season and be happy.

Yep, he would have a much better chance at LSU, but if he could do it at UK, he would be ky royalty for life. He could do it at UK if he could luck into current talent with 3 more impact wr/te’s.

I don’t see him wanting to tangle with bama and the rest of the west though. I think it’s UK, ohio state, Iowa or the pros.

Other than the recruiting, Miami seems like a difficult coaching gig.

The fanbase has the same expectations as an upper-tier SEC program, but the administration won’t commit to the kind of budget and resources necessary to make that happen. How many coaches have they fired in the last 15 years?

I don't remember what his salary was but Mullen left a less stressful job to come to UF. They still celebrate being ranked being #1 for a week.

Cal was making 3 million (good salary in the 10's) at Memphis to take the more pressured job at UK.

It's not impossible to win it all at LSU. 3 separate coaches have done so this century. One is the GOAT the other two not so great.

I believe Cal left because he said UK was his dream job. I don’t know what that is for stoops. Probably ohio state.

If we go 10-2 or better this year, recruiting would tick up another notch and stoops would be raised up to 6 million or more. Stoops has some good options. Of course i would like him to stay and wait on a great QB and a handful of WRs to go with his defense.

I honestly don't see him leaving unless he just wants a shot at big time before retirement. Honestly he can ride off in the sunset and be on the radio and such finishing his career in Lexington.

He could keep it between 4 to 9 wins a year and never get fired. And if recruiting picks up and we get a few more wandales type impact players, he could challenge for the east every now and again.

Stoops still dines in for breakfast and dinner in Lexington. Imagine Cal doing that. He’d be mobbed

The idea that he will ever win a title at Kentucky is homerism at its best.

yeah man, if he did? Sure. He'd be a legend.

But are you serious? You actually think that's possible? What doomsday scenario has to play out for that?

Anything is possible! This years team is 2 stud receivers away from having a legit chance at going to Atlanta. Maybe stoops starts to get those kind of kids in the future

There is a reason why Kentucky has never won the East in football.

2 stud WRs wasn’t going to change the outcome of the UGA game.

Tell us what it is Paco. Because I would really like to win the east one day.
Well history proves it and the fact that UK isn’t really a football school. To win the East you most likely have to beat UF/UGA and UT all in the same season which are programs that all have more history & tradition than UK. And then even if you beat them you then have to hope that Missouri or USCe isn’t playing above their trajectory because even those 2 programs have won a SEC East.

Ouch. I could reply but I guess UK has to prove itself before then.

Would it take 3 stud receivers?

I don’t know what else we are missing. Top 10 OL. Good RBs. Super talented QB. Wandale. Top 15 defense

Sure reply but you have no history or evidence to base your reply on other than a homer type opinion. I could give some credence to it happening if it at least had happened. I guess anything is possible if Mizzou and USCe actually won the East but the fact that they did is even more of a bad look for UK football as they are right there with Vandy. I think every team in the West has even won a division except Ole Miss and A&M.

Who was your basketball coach that had to pay for his own carpet for his office? See where I am going?

I’m assuming you are talking about Billy D but UF actually had some basketball success prior to Billy. Also UF is one of the best athletic programs in the entire country that has won a lot of national championships in multiple sports and is constantly in the top 5-10 in the Sears Directors Cup. UF is also one of the highest revenue generating athletic programs in the country as well. I’m not surprised that UF eventually would have a championship type program in basketball. We had too many resources not too at some point.
Heck I was pulling for you to beat UGA even though it was highly unlikely. It just goes to show you that even with one of your better teams how far away you are from still winning the East. Let’s be honest. UKs best bet to win the East is for UF/UGA & UT all to be down and struggling. That is pretty rare for all 3 to struggle in 1 year and then when it did happen it was USCe and Missouri that snuck in there. Heck even McElwain won the East twice when the entire East sucked. We were just the tallest midget.

Here's why that will never happen:

Alumni do the math and realize getting those two WR's would cost too much to also get that 5 star PG.
