This could be even better , ie ~ Riley

This is like the guy who waited too long to ask out the hot girls at the bar and now it’s down to the last-ditch lay.

Dan Mullen to either LSU or UT. He'd get him 1 national title if he lines up the right assistants at LSU. As me and Paco both states two bums won big in Red Stick. Their past 3 coaches have won Natty's. The Goat 1. The mediocres 1 each as well.
LSU would do well to hire Mullen…he would kick ass there…

If Heupel were to go to OU…holy shit…that would be wild…

Thats the beauty of Riley going to USC. UT loses their coach without Riley being at LSU

Hence this thread
If the toothless wonders lose their coach, that would be good for us, they accidentally found one with a couple of brain cells, would hate for them to become semi-relevant and start being competitive with us. Even better if we go to the pod system and stop seeing LSU every year.

I can’t say for sure if this is true or not but I believe some bad things went down between Heupel and OU from his time there when he was an OC. I seem to recall some bad blood. Maybe that has been reconciled.

OU could easily reconcile with Heupel. I can think of 9 million ways they could do that.

Good point. And honestly, from what sadgator has seen, (massive money aside) Heupel seems to be an honorable dude and good guy…he isn’t going to shit on Tennessee and Danny White the same way Kiffin did after one year…

but it would be orgasmic if he did…

That's why these guys have agents, to do their dirty work.

But I agree, he likely won't jump. UT will match the money, then he gets to be the good guy and get paid. But he makes 4M at UT right now, if they won't come up he will make the move, and for 5M more a year, not many people will fault him.

You are right but that was over 5 years ago, under a HC that retired, and do they still have the same AD and president from back then?

If he had the capacity to hire the right assistants, he’d still be here. Seriously, one of the biggest mysteries about mullen is how someone who is obviously so smart can’t see the blatantly obvious. I mean, the guy forgets more about football on a daily basis than I will ever know, but how can he work with Urban Meyer for so long and not see the importance he placed in recruiting? I never worked with Meyer, and I can see that most of his success comes from recruiting. How can Mullen not get that? He probably could step into LSU right now and be an immediate improvement, and he’s be the best coach Tennessee ever hired, probably, but he now definitely has a ceiling. He’s too good a coach not to get another job, but at this point he has the Mississippi state “moral victory” mindset, and that works at Mississippi state or Tennessee or usce where the expectations are low. That’s not going to work at a top level school, and that’s what will keep him from getting one of those jobs until he shows he can recruit and handle adversity. I think the most disappointing thing a cia h can do is quit on the team. Mcelwain did it and I’m glad we got rid of him as fast as we did, and same with Mullen. I respect the guy’s knowledge but you can’t come unglued because you have a bad loss. The great ones figure out why they lost and improve their areas of weakness. The not so great blame people and quit.

Arent they having Stoops coach the bowl game. Think I heard something on that. If so he may be against it though I don't know exactly what went on there.

FWIW I’m not sure OU even wants Heupel or that he would be at or near the top of their list. I do think he is a very good offensive coach but not sure how good of a head coach/program builder he is. Yes UT had a decent season by their standards. However every year he was at UCF they regressed and he didn’t recruit well at UCF either, especially capitalizing on that undefeated season Frost had. So far he isn’t recruiting good at UT either. His “bump” class is currently ranked like 28th. That isn’t going to cut it in the SEC.

Good points. Why did we not see the recruiting issues to begin with? I think we did but tried to ignore them.

How did I ever forget Heupel got fired at OU back in 2014? Rumor is there was/is bad blood between he and Stoops. If he fired Heupel as OC then he should have fired his DC at the time, oh wait, his DC was Mike Stoops, whom Riley eventually fired.

His comments there seemed to be a professional way of blaming some of the problems on Stoops so there probably is some bad blood there.

LSU AD Scott Woodward to me seems much dumber than the previous Doocshe AD, Joe Aleva. He should have stayed at Texas A&M.
That article was a whole bunch of nothing and not committing to anything by that guy. We will see who they get. As myself and others have said on this board LSU has won a national title with 2 dud coaches. LSU pretty much recruits itself so you can luck into a national title if a few things fall your way.
