The Too Early to Bother, 2018 Recruiting Thread...

I am still waiting for all these 3 star phenoms to pay off against the teams with mostly blue chippers starting - Bama, FSU, Michigan etc. - Well we did beat LSU once due to turnovers despite giving up a bunch of yards.

I guess it depends on what you mean by pay off.... o_O

But I like this list so far as Gator players, and others may get there eventually.

2017
FS Shawn Davis
RB Adarius Lemons
Ath Kadarius Toney
RB Malik Davis
DT Kyree Campbell

2016
K Eddy Pineiro
MLB David Reese
DE Jachai Polite
RB Lamical Perine
LG Brett Heggi

2015
DE Jabari Zuniga
OLB Kylan Johnson
RT/RG Fred Johnson
OC/OG/OT Tyler Jordan

I didn't bother to list the suspended buttheads, or the few transfers.
Dumbaway would be on that list also, IF he wasn't such a butthead....

This would amount to some pretty good news,,, IF it happens.
http://usatodayhss.com/2017/long-be...-corral-receive-u-s-army-all-american-jerseys

Note: Long Beach, CA Poly sounds a lot like Bradenton, FL IMG.
#3 QB-PP Matt Corral 6-2 196 **** (32/100) - Army AA
#5 WR Jalen Hall 6-4 192 ***** (24/100) - Army AA
HS Jr - 1,164 yds, 11 TD's.
(pretty good, a few more yards but a few less TD's than Moral Stephens had as a HS Sr at WR) ;)
============

But if not, no worries mates... Having the angle doesn't seem to help this D much....
http://usatodayhss.com/2017/america...schwartz-flies-past-defense-for-70-yard-score

Getting both Schwartz and Hall would make the class a bit crowded at WR (if they all stick), but I'd still take them both....

But for right now, I'd rather have 3-4 OL and 2-3 DT's coming in.... o_O

From Friday Night HS Football:

2018 Recrutis:

RB Dameon Pierce - 19 for 212 yards, 11.2 ypc with 4 TD's.

WR Ja'Marr Chase - 85 yd KR TD - 5 Rec for 113 yds, 22.6 yds/rec with a TD.

CB Divaad Wilson had 2 picks in a win over Miami Booker-T.

3 Stars:

Still needed in this class:
3-4 OL
1-2 WR
-----

Another top target committed to Mc-staff on Friday, (10-20-17)

#10 OT Richard Gouraige 6-5 271 **** - Tampa, FL - UA-AA
He chose UF over NC Clemson, with UA, AU, LSU, among the many other offers.
I’m not just committing to a coach,” Gouragie said. “I’m committing to a school and a community. Academic wise, it’s one of the top 10 public schools in the country."

The Gators now have two offensive linemen in their 2018 class as Gouraige joins 4-star, #6 OG and fellow Under Armour All-American Curtis Dunlap.

With 18 commits, UF now has the #6 rated class with 10 that are 4 star (247) recruits.

Question: Since Corral is projected to EE and be the 2018 starter, why are they redshirting Allen?

Is it to save him, so that he can be a rsFr 4 year backup to Corral???
In front of never even given a chance Kyle Trask 6-5 239 rsSo?

Jake Allen 6-3 200 Fr - FL 7A State Champ, Elite 11 Finalist

In the 2016 7A Championship Game
, Allen threw for 323 yards and 5 TD's.

Matt Corral 6-2 196 HS - Elite 11 Finalist

The Gator's Committee of RB's just keeps on getting better and better!

RB Malik Davis -- The Nation's 2016 most productive HS RB, broke Ray-Ray McCloud's records.

RB/ST's Adarius Lemons - Florida's #1 rated HS RB to begin the 2016 season.

Two Outstanding Newbees for 2018:

RB Dameon Pierce 5-11 205 - In 2017 he passed Herschel Walker in Gerogia HS career rushing yards.

The Good News so far: NO recruit has officially de-committed since Mc was fired.

#7 CB-WR/RB/KR/PR Brendan Radley-Hiles 5-10 183 ****

Kee-rist!
I'd take this one at any position that he wanted to play!
Please, please, please be a Gator.
Because in 15 years, you sure won't be sorry to be a part of Gator Nation for life!

Now we find out which of the 2018 recruits really want to become lifetime Gators by joining the Gator Nation. Gators, or just more gator-bait, it's always up to them as to which they will choose to become....

The smarter among the current recruit commits will at least wait to see who the next coach is. They will still have plenty of time before NSD to see how things are going to turn out.

Then if they don't like the choice, they are free to go elsewhere with no hard feelings.

If they are not smart enough to wait to see how things play out, then they are probably not smart enough to be at UF anyway. Personally, I only want the one's that truly WANT to be Gators. I'm not much interested in what the future gator-bait does...

I think today we learned that stars do matter.

While there will always be 3* who excel, a team full of them will not allow you to compete at a high level in the SEC.

Yap, yap, yap.... Quality players matter, recruit rankings, not so much...

Is this claim / opinion just as solid as your 2017 recruit class ranking pre-dic-tion was???

The Gators currently have 30+ 4-5 stars on the roster.
5 Star DE CeCe jumped off-sides.
5 Star LT Ivey got nabbed for holding.
While most of the (can't play) Fr and the 3 stars played fairly well...

IMOHO, they needed to use 1-2 of their 3 star QB's yesterday... o_O
Your own chosen savior (nuttless QB) was lame and replaced, yet again.

And apparently you don't know that BSU consistently wins with 2-3 stars.
(see 2006 Fiasco Bowl vs Okla with Big-Game Bob)

Here's yet another good reason to hire UCF's Scott Frost as the new HC.

#6 OT William Barnes 6-4 312 would like to see UCF’s Scott Frost at Florida.
One of the first head coaches to recruit Barnes was Frost, hired at UCF Dec. 2015.
“He’s a great coach,” Barnes told SEC Country. The U.S. Army All-American thinks Frost would be a good hire for the Gators. “I’ve talked to him a little bit. UCF was recruiting me hard early on.”

“Coach Mac was a great coach. Him leaving really struck my heart, but it hasn’t changed my feelings about Florida,” Barnes said. “I like them as a school, not just because of the coaches.”
=============

UCF/Frost is leading the FBS in the Nation with 51 Pts/Gm. With Corral as the incoming QB, you'd think that most, if not all of the 2018 class, would also still want in on it.

A new commit for UF on Sunday 11-5-17
CB/WR Nigel Bethel 6-0 165 ***
Offers: UGA/Smart, Miami/Richt, UL/Petrino, UCF/Frost, FL-Atl/Kiffin, etc...
So, you gonna believe what those coaches see, or the recruit rankers?

Shannon - ‘Listen, we may not be here.’
Recruit - ‘Coach, I understand that, but you're right. It’s about the Gator brand.’
Shannon - 'We need this guy as a part of this organization.’
His teammate at Miami Northwestern, CB Divaad Wilson ***, has also committed to UF.

While tennis-sea's Head-BJ gets a de-commit from his only 5 star, #2 OT Cade Maye 6-6 318. -- (what,,, did the check bounce???) :D

7. UF (#2 SEC) 19 -- 0 - 10 - 9 - 0 -- 0.9008 (247)
8. UF (#2 SEC) 19 -- 0 - 11 - 8 - 0 -- 3.58 (rivals)

(9. OU, 10. ND, 11 TN) :p

And tennis-sea's Head-BJ just lost their only 5 star commit, #2 OT Maye.
He's from no-Knox, so he must have some solid 'insight' about the place... ;)

Recruiting is mostly on hold while waiting to see who the next coach is, and what his staff is going to be? That's a good thing imo for now.
