Just to warn you these stats will give you more hope than you probably should have.... Eye test is still most reliable test... However these are some interesting stats.

Ole Miss stats

Offense

Total 504 #15 in nation
Yards per play 6.7 tied for #12
RYPG 152.7 #77
Rushing yards per attempt 4.2 #tied for 69
PYPG 351.3 #13
Passing yards per attempt 9.4 #13
Gives up 2.0 sacks per game tied #63

Their depth chart, eye test, and statistics all point to them living and dying by the passing game. They do not have the running backs to line up against someone and run the ball down their throat. They only run the ball enough to keep opponents as honest as possible, but they give up 2 sacks a game because opponents are smart enough to put their best pass rushers on the field and blitz often enough to essentially dare them to run. Their passing game is just that good.

However, we easily have the best pass rush and secondary they have faced all year. Their strengths on offense play into our strengths on D.

Ole miss defense
Total 380.3 #49
4.3 Yards per play #19
211.7 PYPG #52
5.1 passing yards per attempt #11
168.7 rushing yards #65
3.7 rushing yards per attempt #tied 41
Depending on the site only 3-4 sacks ALL SEASON LONG

Don't look at the total yards. Look at the yards per attempt. Opponents average 88 plays per game. That is the 3rd most in the country.

Over all it appears their secondary is better than most thought and their DL is not as frightening as everyone thinks. 3 sacks all year is sad. That is bad by all standards. Is Robert Nkemdiche over rated?

My answer is he is slightly, but still is gonna cause a lot of problems for our interior OL.

Still it seems that the short passing game should be there for the Gators. That will be it and it will be hard to score with that being the only option.

The biggest thing to take away from these stats is that if we can keep them from making big plays in the passing game then this should be a very low scoring game that anyone could win.
