Thought this would be fun to have a thread on since we have several fanbases here besides Gators.

I want to see Bama do well of course, but also wanting to see SEC get the maximum number of schools in.

First round started today. Arkansas won, Miss State as well and Texas upset Vandy. Georgia and OU playing right now.

Both Jerry Palm ad Joe Lunardi have OU in for the moment. Neither had Texas in so their win over the Dores helps. Still think they need at least one more.

Arkansas and Georgia look to be in. OU would be in trouble if they lose tonight.

Experts still say we have a shot at 13 teams. Thoughts?

OU beat Georgia. Big win for the Sooners. Joe Lunardi now has the Sooners in, but barely. It feels lke he thinks they need one more in over Kentucky today. I think a win today locks them in.

He also has Vandy barely in now after they lost to Texas. He now has Texas as the first team out.

14 of 16 teams in the SEC still have a shot at making the tourney. Amazing.

Historically, Joe Lunardi's analysis for years have been just as awful as his effed up teeth. Yes, the SEC is deep this season but I can't see the NCAA committee allowing more than 8 SEC teams in the big dance.

Jerry Palm has the SEC teams in even better position than Lunardi does. He has everyone solidly in except for Texas.

Both have agreed for weeks now that 9 SEC teams are locks. Vandy, Arkie, Georgia, Texas and Oklahoma still have work to do.

My guess is we get 12-13 teams. I think if OU and Texas win today, then the talk becomes do they get in, but do teams like Vandy and Georgia get bounced to make room for them.

Now 9 teams I can see as a lock. Any more and if the every or most 8-10 SEC teams lose on the first night, the media will have a field day clowning the SEC.

I can't remember if the ACC ever had that many teams considered. Then again, it's just Duke, UNC and occasionally UVA when they had Terry Holland then Tony Bennett as their coaches.

It's still laughable to this day how FSU once claimed joining the ACC will make their hoops program stronger as well as lift them up to Duke's level academically. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

I think that comes after the first 2 rounds when the SEC will have quite a few losses because they got so many teams in. It's going to be crazy for the commitee trying to split things up as much as they can to avoid all SEC matchups if there are 13 or 14 teams from the SEC. They might just say they don't care who they are playing after the #1 and # 2 seeds.

I saw somewhere that 11 teams is the record, I think from the Big East.

One thing about Bama is they light up the scoreboard like no other teams I've seen for the past 3 seasons. They lost to Mizzou the same reason Florida did, and those were games Bama and UF should have won.
Oats pushes them to score and shoot 3s. If Bama shoots well, they likely win. If not they don't.

It will be interesting to see how many SEC teams are left i the Sweet Sixteen. Bama, UT, Florida and Auburn are all capable of Final Four runs. Think Bama, Florida and Auburn can win it all.

Not bad for a football conference :)

Ole Miss just beat Arkansas, Hogs were up by 3 with 29 seconds left and lost by 3. Hogs are likely still in, unless either OU or Texas keep winning, then they could be in trouble.

TexAss might be looking for a new coach for next season. Any chance the woman strangler at the University of Pississippi goes back?

TX may need to beat TN today to be safe for making the tournament.
Palm says Horns are in if they win today. Lunardi actually has Texas as one of his Last Four In. Playing their 3rd game in 50 hours is gonna hit hard in the 2nd half for UT.

Sooners lose to UK by 1 but both Palm and Lunardi still have them in. Both seem to be saying SEC has 13 in and Texas would be #14 with a win today.

Also, Cooper Flagg is questionable today for Duke. Twisted his ankle in yesterday's game.

I want to see what the average is of all these brackets and some computer ones. I would trust Palm more on the close calls to make it in than Lunardi though.

If Texas wins today, I think at some point this weekend in that meeting, someone on the selection committee is gonna say "Guys, we arent really gonna let 14 SEC teams in, are we?"

I'll be very surprised if we get 14 even if UT wins today. I would be thrilled with even 13.

If TX and NC win today the committee will have to make a decision pending the rest of those conference tournaments unless OK, TX and NC all make it in.

We need to beat Mizzu and for KY to beat Bama to limit the chances of the committee screwing us out of a # 1 seed. They are even bringing up Mich State being in play for a #1 seed.

Watch them try and screw us if we don't beat Bama.

3 ways they might try it:

TN beats Auburn and Bama

Mich State wins their next 2 games (big conf regular season champs have been 1 seed higher than expected quite a few times)

Bama beats us and TN/Auburn

Bama beats UK by 29.

Tenn - Auburn at noon CST, Bama-Florida should start around 3pm CST.

Joe Lunardi's latest Bracketology has 13 teams in, Texas in a play-in game as the potential 14th team.
