I generally don't go to ESPN.com very much any more, but with the start of the CFB season, I was on there a bit earlier today. I found the attached article very interesting.

If I'm reading this right, it looks like CBS is hooking up with the Big Ten to broadcast the coveted Saturday afternoon game at 3:30 ET / 2:30 CT. From the article:

Beginning in 2024, ESPN will exclusively broadcast SEC games as part of a 10-year agreement.

I'm ok with the SEC on ESPN, but I hate the thought of losing the marque game on CBS.

It just seems like Greg Sankey and the folks at the SEC league got out-maneuvered on this one. What do you guys think?

At first CBS didn’t want to pay. They were only paying about $55 mil/year for SEC. ESPN out bid them at about $300 mil/year.

CBS will now have to pay about $300 mil/year to get back in with the B1G.

sadgator asserts it is CBS that screwed the pooch on this one…

will miss the 3:30 p.m. CBS game…it was one of the joys in sadgator’s life…soon to be a memory.

I hate the Big Ten anyways. CBS never got great ratings televising their games back in the 80s. Won't be any different now.

How about Mrs sadgator ?

Is she missing anything from your youth ?
Apparently not.

We had fun back in the day though. Before kids…
