Recruiting - early signing day just ahead....

The 2 guys most likely to leave early for the NFL were both 3 stars...

DE Jachai Polite *** 5.6
RT Jawaan Taylor *** 5.5

Ooooppss, how did I forget about (brain fart) RB Jordan Scarlett rsJr ****,
as the other guy that's likely to leave early for the draft.

JT definitely needs another year of seasoning on the OL, and he'd be lucky to go by the 3rd Rnd imo.
(he led the OL with the most penalties, mostly false starts)

Ole iG would really, really,,, like to see this one sign up to be a Florida Gator!

UF's standing with #5 DT Siaki Ika had been viewed as more of a wait-and-see , but following this weekend's official visit, it's safe to say the Gators are now a true contender following his 'all smiles' multi-day stay in Gainesville. :)

Siaki is an early signee who is also considering LSU, Oregon, USC, Alabama and Utah.

A product of Salt Lake City (Utah) East, the 6-foot-3, 330-pound Siaki is also ranked as the nation's 121st player overall.

It’s amusing to watch everybody lose their shit over every single move made by 18 year old boys...

Jeez...just wait ‘til the freakin’ day...we’ll be like around 15ish and nobody’ll think twice about it again...

FSU will pull in like an amazing Uber-talent class ranked in the top 5 at like the 11th hour and everybody will act like the sun has burnt out...

It’s been same story ever year for like the past 30 years...

15th would suck - that is Mac level.

At least Willy appears to be an idiot so far and must think like Muschamp that you only need 2 offensive linemen each class.

Apparently you’ve never seen how this works when the day arrives.

Choker only sees what he wants to see,,, until the inverse happens,,, o_O then he tends to become invisible and disappears for a time,,, only to return after he sobers up and/or thinks that enough time has past for him to begin spreading his fertilizer again...

:D:rolleyes::D

Not one clue what that means?!?!?

Just mentioning the total team ranking is important but i'm a tich more focused on the 4/5 Stars we pick up overall. If we don't get the super eltie guys but bring in 16 four and five stars (between class/transfers) I'll be happy. So 16/24ish schollys would be about 65% clip.

Overall I want the number of blue chips in the program to be a higher %...like Mullen did last year. looks like we should be on track for that given what we know on who's signing tomorrow.

As long as you are filling your needs the amount of blue chippers and the blue chippers you are getting probably points to what the coach will be able to do with good coaching in the SEC even though we know there are Rivals 3 star gems in there many times also especially on the O line. A lot of busts also.

The point system Rivals uses is a decent indicator of potential I would say because it takes the specific point ranking of the individual blue chippers into account also. I haven't really looked at the others much but I know a few years back Rivals seemed to be the stingiest on giving 5 stars out.

Sorry, but ESPN only hands our 20 with 5 stars, rivals it's 30 something... And ESPN only has football professionals (former players, coaches, etc) doing their rankings.

This is the best information I could get from around the web for the run up to Wed ESD. Enjoy... :)

Getting highly rated players is important but you also need to get players that fit what you do and meet needs. You look at UGA for example and them signing Fields got them the top ranked player in the country but for one he doesn’t fit their system, so they had no idea what to do with him all year except make him run zone reads. And two because he expected to play they couldn’t take the time to develop parts of his game needed to play in their system. Long term they’d have been better off taking a pocket passer like Corral and having him develop behind Fromm. Instead now they have Fromm and a bunch of walk ons backing him up. That’s shitty roster management but that won’t be seen in the rankings.

Same thing happened to FSU a few years back where they had a class with like three 4-star QB’s in it. One might have been 5-star. Highly rated class because of it but only one of them play at a time. They’d have been better off signing one QB and using the other scholarships on lineman, it’d have made them a better team even though their ranking would be worse. There are plenty of examples like that. Filling needs and recruiting to your system are every bit as important as just signing the highest rated players. Ideally you get a combination of both.

Gator ESD totals by position: (needs mostly filled)
(2 more DL and 2 more DB's would make me smile)

QB-dt 1
RB 1 - or maybe 2
TE 1
WR 2 - or 3 Whittemore
OL 6 - maybe 7-8
-----
S 1 - depends on FS/WR Whittemore
CB 2 - maybe 3
LB 4
DE 1 - maybe 2
DT 1 - maybe 2

BINGO. Rankings aren’t the end all. You need to fill needs and get players that fit your system and what your trying to do.

Mullen is doing that right now with this 2019 recruiting class. Look what he is doing on the oline. Your rankings are going to suffer a bit when your taking 6-7 olineman but at the same time he is filling needs and properly managing the roster. Something Mac and Muschamp didn’t do.

In UGAs case who is now the backup to Fromm? They took Fields who wasn’t a fit for their offense.

Trey looked at UF's roster and the 1 RB already committed to UF;,,,
#3 APB RB Nay'Quan Wright 5-9 195 (Dade Co PoY)
and decided to follow through on his UA recruiting lean.

Not a surprise to me, and not a bad choice for Trey imo, but we'll see...

And I'm good with who UF already has, and with who Dan added in the #3 APB.;)
