Proprietary COVID-19 and Vaccine thread

Actually, the primary comorbidities that increase your risk of deaths from Covid are, in order, hypertension, coronary artery, disease, and diabetes.
Obesity certainly increases your risk of all three of these, and is in and of itself a risk factor, but it is not the number one comorbidity for bad Covid outcomes
The more you know……..

....the more you google? Odd you selected the first hit on the search.

Actually, the presence of more than one morbidity is a lot more impactful than just one, and obesity can directly contribute to hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc.

The bottom line is being thin and healthy is much better than being fat and sick if you get Covid, and she's only getting fatter eating 1200 calorie trans fat burgers and housing 24oz of high fructose corn syrup while being a Karen about putting a totally ineffective surgical mask on.

This is a little more recent:

I trust you know this. Thanks for the info. See..I learned something today! Obne thing though...I am overweight, and work in the public, refused to wear masks after about 2 1/2 months...and still today not sure if I have ever had covid. I am overweight, but other than that healthy. Wife was a nurse all through this, treated MANY very sick covid patients...and neither of us has ever shown any symptoms. I cannot think of any of my friends, or co workers who did not catch covid at some point. I would imagine we were in a group of people that showed no symptoms, but at some point gained natural immunity. Anyhow...it may kill me tommorrow, but I am never going to be scared in to them trying to control me. It is such a shame for all of us that just cannot ever trust our government ever again. They lie to all of us because they think they know better what is good for us then we do for ourselves. That is 100% unAmerican...

Hey at least we got him up to speed on comorbidities, or the difference between dying WITH covid (94%) and dying FROM covid (only 6%).

But, isn’t obesity likely the reason someone has those risk factors? An obese person is almost three times more likely to have hypertension that a normal weight person. And 80-90% percent of type 2 diabetics are obese.

So while, it may not be the number one risk factor, it is the common denominator or underlying cause for them all. It seems like not saying it is the largest risk factor is splitting hairs a little.

While they may be..I am a perfect example of "not always" I am 6'4 290 and have none of these issues.

That’s fair. I’m 5’11 175-180ish and by most standards would be considered very fit. I have mild hypertension (thanks dad for the genetics). While we are both in the not always category there are way more people that are in the always category.

Yes, to some extent. A lot of it has to do with a western diet which means you can get these things and not be obese. Love it has to do with genetics.

But I did clearly say that obesity is one of the things that leads to the top three comorbidities.

But there is this mistaken concept that all we have to do is lose weight, and nobody would die from Covid, and that’s just simply not the case. Hypertension, which occurs in skinny people too, is one of the biggest risk factors because the spike protein interacts with ACE receptors in the lung, but that’s also a key component of the blood pressure control system through the renin angiotensin feedback loop.

I also took care of many Covid patients that did not survive that were quite skinny.

So it’s disingenuous to claim that morbid obesity is the primary comorbidity when sadistically it’s not.

Obesity statistically is the fourth or fifth comorbidity, but certainly are western diet leads to the top three and you are more prone to get those top three if you are obese.

No actually the common denominator is the spike protein and the ace receptor and how it triggers a hyperimmune response in certain patient that leads to the severe version of Covid and acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Certainly obese people tend to be more prone to this reaction, but it has more to do with hypertension then just obesity.

For what it’s worth.

Not being fat would have saved many more lives than the shots. Like the shots didnt save any lives, and not being fat would have saved almost all of them

Can you prove that? Would love to see the study that shows that.

Observation of reality unfolding in front of me. Falls under self evident truth
Yeah….. that’s not evidence, that’s opinion.
As a physician, we have to deal in science more than simple observation.
For example:

Or…….

Not what a country country singer sit on Fox News

People who are fit, eat fruit and veggies and get plenty of sunshine dont get severe covid. duh
Oh no, they still get Covid, I took care of several people with severe Covid that were skinny and lived in the sunshine states.
But people with fewer comorbidities are less likely to get severe Covid, but sadly, even healthy people died from Covid
But I will agree with you that the fewer comorbidities you have the better shot you got, and you got a pretty good shot anyway because the mortality rate from Covid was slightly below 1%.

Dont care what someone on Fox said or the medical professionals who cant figure out weather eggs are good for you or not. It is plain to see that fat people got it bad and fit people with a good nutrition habits coughed for a day or 2 and moved on with thier life

Vitamin D
Yep.

"When we extrapolate our results for vitamin D3 supplementation to the entire US population in 2020, there would have been approximately 4 million fewer COVID-19 cases and 116,000 deaths avoided."

President Trump told us in April of 2020, get outside and get some sunshine.

Yep.

I think the lockdowns killed a lot of people. The obvious depression, and fatty factor....but inside, no sunshine.

Fresh air, physical activity and oxygen as well

To my knowledge there have been zero confirmed outbreaks that occurred outdoors

Yep. Remember the fear mongering over the start of the 2021 college football season? All those full stadiums were a deathtrap!

I remember one poster in particular ITT saying 'let's check back in 2 weeks' after the season started.

Guess he forgot to circle back.

The only thing that saved those people was the $1.99 piece of cloth over their face

So since you’re basing all this off of your own personal observation is, I just got to ask, how many severe Covid patients did you take care of?

What is your actual point? That some people, albeit a relatively small group, who were in shape but suffered from hypertension or one of the other comorbidities due to genetics prove that exercise and a good diet didn't prevent covid from killing people 100% of the time?

Is your ego actually this fragile?

So stipulated on his behalf. Exercise and a good diet wasn't 100% effective.

...but his point still stands and you know it as well as he does. Exercise and diet won't prevent a bus from killing you either fwiw.

I think would be pretty obvious. Training and experience generally equates to a better understanding and knowledge.

Sincere question, as you can be a reasonable person in my experience, Do you think I understand what it takes to be a police officer because I watch Cops?

Few other points:
It’s not a relatively small group. More than half the patients we took care of had body mass index is below 30 that means more than half with the equivalent of American skinny.

My ego has nothing to do with it, is the miss information they gets spread that is frustrating.
People continually say that obesity is the greatest comorbidity or risk factor in it, simply not true. That’s my point.
Nobody’s debating that healthier people do better with medical problems than unhealthy people. But this is not you need to Covid. And it’s also not as dramatic as you guys are making it out to be.

Why do you feel the need to personally attack me for sharing my experience?

Are you threatened by what I bring to the board as an actual physician with three years of extensive experience caring for Covid patients?

Hey, just personal experience, everybody’s talking about Covid flaring back up, I got a Tell ya, We have zero Covid cases in the hospital right now. And we are the major hospital for 100 miles in any direction. We’re not seeing that on the gulf coast. At least not yet.

So zero reason for any mask wearing or social isolation BS policies right now. I don’t even see a reason for a vaccine right now unless they can guess the right strain that’s gonna come around this year.

Just FYI

American skinny??? I dont know what this means. I am talking fit, no qualifiers needed. I am talking about people who break a HARD sweat 6 times a week for 45 minutes. I am talking about getting high quantities of berries and dark green leafy veggies. All these comorbidities are a result of being a fat ass that doesnt exercise, doesnt eat healthy food. In other words, being fat is the leading edge of these other illnesses. This isnt just COVID either, I have been sick one time in years and years...all the while I have a house full of grade school children constitently bringing stuff in the house. I dont need a certificate to understand this. I have lost a lot of faith in medical professionals, and some of my doubts stem from this debate. However, I say it halfway as a joke, but they cant figure out if an egg is good for you or not. Some pediatrician nut jobs give children hormone blockers. The number of people on scripts in this country is up some absurd amount over the last 3 decades. The profession has kind of lost me. My general care physician tells me to stop eating red meat, my cardiologist tell me thats dumb. Its nuts. I think there are some things that the profession does well, but other areas yall need some humility.

So, if I’m reading this correctly, the answer to the question is you taking care of zero Covid patients.
Okey-dokey
