Official Coaching Change Thread

Former Bucs HC Greg Schiano expected to accept Assoc HC/DC at Ohio State, per source; will replace former OSU DC Chris Ash, new Rutgers HC.

According to football scoop:

Per source, despite Auburn’s attempts, defensive coordinator Charles Kelly will stay at Florida State.

I guess they didn't really want him, right MJ?

What? I think they DID want him, if reports of what they offered him are true. What in Wyatt's name do you use to come to conclusions? You must use some other part of your anatomy than your brain.

BTW, did he get a raise?

Yes I imagine a raise is in the works. He was going to get one regardless of this auburn deal.

Jim Chaney named OC at Georgia. When Urban Meyer took his first coaching job at Bowling Green, he sought advice from several of the best coaches using the spread offense, including Jim Chaney.

I wonder if this means they are going to the spread.

Jim Chaney:

1985–1992 Cal St. Fullerton (assistant)
1993–1994 Wyoming (GA)
1995–1996 Wyoming (OL/RC)
1997–2001 Purdue (OC/RC)
2002-2005 Purdue (OC)
2006–2007 St. Louis Rams (OL)
2008 St. Louis Rams (TE)
2009–2012 Tennessee (OC/QB)
2012 Tennessee (Interim HC)
2013–2014 Arkansas (OC/QB)
2015–present Pittsburgh (OC/QB)

Lateral move? Click your heels three times and repeat that to your self Dorthy. And another way of talking about pay is that SEC programs can afford to pay a premium, regardless of the reason. FSU? Not so much.

.

I wouldn't even say it's a lateral move. FSU is a better job and program. Stoops turned down Auburn, Jimbo did and now Kelly did. Don't confuse spending foolishly and looking desperate in breaking the bank as paying a premium.

FSU doesn't take a backseat to any SEC program other than Bama.

BTW, back to UGA, Brees put up some incredible numbers at Purdue under Cheney's tutelage. That has got to help UGA with Eason

Somewhere, Rick Trickett, Jeff and Bobby Bowden are all smiling.

Even Ray Charles could see that the SEC is trending down, while the ACC is trending up.

Maybe.....but considering where the respective conferences are "trending" from.....SEC teams with 7 consecutive BCS titles vs. ACC's combined BCS Bowl/CFP record....is that really say much? Could the SEC really trend anywhere but down? Could the ACC really have gotten any worse?

A few years ago, there was talk of stripping the ACC of its AQ designation. So yes, the ACC could have collapsed like the Big East. Instead, it has moved to the middle of the pack, along with the SEC.

No.

There are no measures where the ACC, as a whole, is anywhere near the middle of the pack, if we are considering p-5 conferences. And the same measures all put the whole SEC at the top, even with the inclusion of the admittedly weak SEC East.

Actually the ACC is still the worst of the Power 5 conferences.

We're the better program

LOL, we same conference as bama!

Most conference power rankings show the ACC as middle of the pack now, above the SEC East. Obviously, the SEC West is still strong. To be fair, the ACC is probably more like "lower middle class," but there are a couple of divisions below is now, in the P5.

Maybe 2015 will go down in history as the 476 AD of college football, with SEC East falling to the barbarians, much like the Western Roman Empire..

I'm not saying that the ACC is great. I'm saying that we went from bad to mediocre, while the SEC went from "the best" to middle-of-the-pack.

Am I missing something? Where is SEC middle of the pack?

No. Take a look at Massey's rating. That site not only ranks each team across over 100 ranking systems, it ranks each conference across the same ranking systems. The whole ACC is much worse that the whole SEC. By far. It is not close.

And the whole of the ACC is worse than the whole of other conferences.

BTW, Are you seriously taking the SEC EAST and comparing it to the whole of the ACC. Seriously?

To be fair, the ACC is probably more like "lower middle class," but there are a couple of divisions below is now, in the P5.

Now wait a minute. You ARE using conferences and divisions within conferences as interchangeable. You realize they are not the same thing? Damn, FSU fans are dirt dumb.

Maybe 2015 will go down in history as the 476 AD of college football, with SEC East falling to the barbarians, much like the Western Roman Empire..

Tap your heels three times and keep telling yourself that Dorthy.

1. SECw
9. SECe
Average 9+1 = 10/2 = 5
SEC = 5

6. ACC-c
7. ACC-a
Average 6+7 = 13/2 = 6.5
ACC = 6.5

BTW, in 2014 the SEC had a record 12 bowl teams,
and they went 7-5.
>>>>> The SECe went 5-0.

And no other conference has the quality of defenses that the SEC has, year in and year out. The proof of that is shown in the NFL Draft.

Here you go:

SEC's Utter Domination Of Football Is Now Complete

If it wasn't already patently obvious, Saturday night delivered confirmation: The Southeastern Conference's hostile takeover of college football is complete.

Sure, the SEC has not won the national championship the past two seasons, but it did win it every year in the previous seven. And now you can add the Heisman Trophy to the list of SEC hegemony.

Alabama running back Derrick Henry became the fifth SEC player to win the prize in the past nine seasons. This dominance not coincidentally mirrors the SEC's takeover of the BCS in its final eight seasons.

Again the ACC has a whole is still the worst of all the Power 5 conferences.

Muschamp just hired Coleman Hutzler to coach special teams at South Carolina.

You know, the guy whose unit allowed two awful blocks in the game that got Muschamp fired at Florida ... against South Carolina!

I think I am being trolled. A buddy just posted this
