National Signing Day

Yes. Dline recruiting is the big weak spot. As well as LB.
For LBer we signed Reese and Chatfield and we also got the 2 suspended LBers back so I think we are ok there.

Sunseri did a heck of a job reeling in Langham and give him a few more weeks and he would have gotten Silvera. I’m hoping Dline recruiting will improve with Sunseri.

I was hoping for Barnes. NPF, not so much. We need some road graders at guard.

After just two years as a headcoach and away from Florida?

No, he needed the decade of experience and time away and maturity to be where he is now.

I’m not sure even 3 years ago would have been the right time.

All true. But how many years of head coaching experience did Muschamp have at that time?

Who knew the culture better, an assistant who was recently around or the dude who grew up in Gainesville 20 years prior?

If we hired a guy with head coaching experience vs Mullen...I'd agree.

#14 247 Composite Class - 18 -- 0 - 14 - 4 - 0 -- 3.78

Who was added to the roster/team that doesn't count towards the class ranking?

#06 WR Trevon Grimes 6-4 202 So - signed - EE (rivals 2017 5 star)

#11 WR Van Jefferson 6-2 195 rsJr - EE (rivals 2015 4 star, 5.9)

#1 LS Marco Ortiz 6-5 230 Fr - Richmond, VA
Preferred W-O - A Rubio 5 Star - (rivals 3 Star)

#73 QB-dt Jaylin Jackson 5-9 170 Fr ** Tampa, FL (Ath, slot WR?)
Preferred W-O - A possible Brandon Powell / Dre Massey type?

Looks like a very solid (if small) 1st Class for Dan, to me.

If we're not taking Dorian Gerald, are we looking for a graduate transfer like Sterling Johnson out of Clemson? Or his teammate Jabril Robinson?

Is Dan Mullen comfortable with his QB room or is he going to wait until after the spring to be looking at a possible graduate transfer QB? I am not comfortable with our QB room.

We weren’t filling spots just to fill spots. Mullen even said as much. He said he didn’t want to just fill spots. FWIW we only have enough room to sign about 15 guys next year. I think we only have like 10 seniors on the team.

Didn't realize that about the seniors but there will be at least 4 or 5 processed out before the next class probably and maybe someone going pro early.

Gerald announces (very soon) at 6:00 PM today.

Dan sounded comfortable with the roster QB's to me, and the door is wide open for any of them, beginning in the Spring. There seems to be plenty of raw talent among that group, and I'll be happy with any of them that can compete and win the job.

Thank gawd for this kind of coaching attitude: “Everything is a competition. They’re learning to compete in everything that we do,” Mullen said. “When we’re in weight room, they compete. When we do mat drills, they compete. When we do speed training, they compete. They don’t just run sprints — they race against somebody. When we do agilities, we compete against each other. Community service, we compete. There’s a winner and there’s losers in everything we do.”

Sr's that will be gone, and Jr's that could be gone in 2019. This does not include any that might choose to go elsewhere for whatever reasons.

Zero QB's (the #'s were their recruit position rankings)

#12 RB Jordan Scarlett 5-11 206 rsJr
#28 RB Lamical Perine 5-11 218 Jr

#05 WR Dre Massey 5-9 186 rsSr

#11 WR Van Jefferson 6-2 195 rsJr
#03 WR Tyrie Cleveland 6-2 205 Jr

#74 OT Kavaris Harkless 6-4 311 rsSr (OG)
#56 OT Andrew Mike 6-6 301 rsSr

#82 DE Luke Ancrum 6-5 263 rsJr
#15 MLB David Reese 6-1 239 Jr
#35 DE/OLB Jabari Zuniga 6-3 246 Jr
#33 DE Jachai Polite 6-2 260 Jr
#02 DE Antonneous Clayton 6-2 254 Jr

#16 DT Khairi Clark 6-1 315 rsSr

Normal attrition among all of the others is usually in the 3 to 5 range.
The size of the 2019 class will greatly depend on the number of Jr's that are staying or going.

Brandon sandifer transferred out last spring

Thanks, I missed removing him from my 2018 projected roster notes.

==========

Note:
Florida’s 2018 signing class finished No. 13 in the ESPN recruiting rankings. Gators coach Dan Mullen and his staff signed 9 ESPN 300 members, including 3 ranked in the Top 60 nationally, QB Jones and WR's Copeland and Watkins.
