Mullen

That is YOUR coach he beat.....So you think he is a different human because he changed caps?

My coach beat him in the 2017 NC and 2018 SECCG. In both games, Georgia had solid leads then blew them against the backup QB.

And I think that if beating Miss State is what you want to hang your 'I think Kirby is a good coach' hat on, then go right ahead.

As I've always said, I hope Georgia gives Kirby a lifetime contract with a $100M buyout. IOW, I want them to be stuck with him from now on.

Maybe I'll end up being wrong about that hope, but I'm willing to take my chances.

So is your coach Little Nicky?

As someone that always, in any aspect of life or business, prepares for the worst so that the let down isn't so bad because I prepared for it but the victory is even better, this thread is bananas.

It's like Georgia fans are 19 year old kids who got their first taste of high end cocaine while hanging out in the Blue Ridge Mountains and after 5 whiskey drinks 3 lines and 2 gaggers on the back deck, they black out mid-sentence but keep talking until they crawl onto a bench and tell their friends that they're "so cold...and don't want to choke on their own vomit like Bonham..." and then wake up in a sleeping bag in the bathroom confused and disoriented but get up ready to watch Florida and Arkansas.

And despite how bad you feel, you're still like "man that was awesome and idk how bad I feel, I will defend this feeling against all odds for the next decade."

I mean...really? You guys are ridiculous.

It’s only bananas because you don’t like hearing the truth when it doesn’t fit your narrative.

Was it coaching that lead BAMA back? Which team had the most talent? Which team had the most experience of being on the big stage? Which team received the most calls in their favor? Saban is a great coach, but even he would say great coaches don't let a team man handle you the way Georgia did the BAMA in both games. I think BAMA had the most talent, experience, and really benefited more from some calls as well as no calls. You as a BAMA fan won't ever admit to the officiating, but in the end, a win is a win. Referees do have the power to control who wins a game.

I forget, are you supposed to be a Georgia or Florida fan today?

I'm a certified BAMA and loser hater, so that's two marks against you and your homesteading on the Gator board. If having a mind that isn't one tracked is a crime then I'm guilty. Answer the question rather than doing what you always do and sidestep them. Go Gators!

Since this tread title is Mullen, not 4th and Dumb.... o_O

As the OC/QB's coach at UF (2005-08) prior to joining MSU in 2009, Mullen worked a Heisman Trophy, Davey O’Brien and Maxwell Award-winning QB, along with a Rimington Trophy finalist and a Biletnikoff Award semifinalist. He was a major factor in UF's 2006-08 NC's before being hired away as MsSt's HC.

Mullen, 46, was honored in 2014 at MsSt as the National College Football CoY by the Maxwell Football Club. He also won honors as the SEC CoY that season. His tenure with the Bulldogs saw the program ascend to a No. 1 ranking for the 1st time ever during regular season polls and he oversaw participation in a MsSt record 8 consecutive bowl games, (going 6-2 - .750 in the bowls).

Player development - has been a key to Mullen’s coaching career successes. Thus far, Mullen has had 26 Bulldogs chosen in the NFL Draft. Dak Prescott *** became the highest drafted MSU QB in modern NFL Draft history, going in the 4th round in 2016 to the Dallas Cowboys, before becoming their starter. (Soon to add Nick Fitzgerald ** to that list) -- Some coaches need 5 star HS talent, while a few can turn 2-3 stars into NFL draft picks.

Prescott joined the following QBs tutored by Mullen who were selected in the NFL Draft: Josh Harris (Bowling Green), Omar Jacobs (Bowling Green), Alex Smith (Utah) and Tim Tebow (Florida).

In the last 8 NFL Drafts, the Bulldogs produced 7 1st- or-2nd round picks. In the 8 drafts prior to Mullen’s arrival, MSU did not have any.

MSU shattered over 100 individual and team single-game, single-season and career statistical records in Mullen's 9 seasons. Meanwhile, the top 7 total offensive seasons' statistical performances in school history all occur in the Mullen era.

Mullen produced 3 seasons of at least 9 wins in the last 9 years, including the school’s 1st back-to-back 9-win seasons in 2014 and 2015. MsSt has only had 4 nine-win seasons in its 109 years.
=====

Now back at UF, Mullen just joined Galen Hall (1985 - No. 5) as the only other 1st-year HC in UF history to post a top-10 finish in the AP Poll. Dan is the only UF HC to win 10 games in his 1st season. 2018 was just the 2nd time in history (1983) UF finished in the AP Poll’s Top 10 after starting the year unranked.

Mullen became the 3rd head coach in NCAA history to win 10 games in a debut season with a current Power Five program after inheriting a team that won less than five games the year prior. Meanwhile, Florida is one of 5 FBS teams that finished under .500 last year and won 10 games this season He did that while taking the #10 rated SEC QB at the finish of the 2017 season, to the #3 rated SEC QB at the finish of the 2018 season.

Total Offense - 426.7 Yds/Gm (42nd in FBS), best since 457.9 in 2009
Scoring Offense - 35.0 Pts/Gm (22nd in FBS), best since 35.9 in 2009
Rushing Offense (Vs SEC) - 200.5 (2nd in SEC), 4th 200-yard Ave. since 1996, 1st since 2014
Rushing Ave. - 5.3 ypc (t-18th in FBS; t-4th in school history), best since 5.6 in 2009
TD/Int Ratio - 4.67 [28 TDs to 6 INTs] (t-9th in FBS), best since 5.60 [28 to 5] in 2009
Passing TD/'s - 28 (t-23rd in FBS), 1st season with more than 20 since throwing 28 in 2009
11 different Gators caught a TD this season, marking the 1st time since 2009 that many Gators had a receiving TD.

I've harped for committee RB's for decades, -- iG.
It seems apparent that Mullen agrees with that point of view / strategy.
One of Mullen’s points of emphasis has been rotation at various positions throughout the game--especially at running back--with the result being a fresher team in the 4th quarter. Florida averaged 6.23 YPC (884 on 141 carries) in the 4th quarter, which ranked 8th in FBS and #1 in the SEC. o_O

Dan' entire coaching history and accolades takes up pages, so I just hit some of the highlights here....

That’s kind of his point. The ‘17 secs game was bigger bc you won. If you look at them both just as games, without looking at the outcome, it would be hard to say the ‘18 game wasn’t a bigger deal.
The exact same reward was on the line in both games. Bammer just has an agenda.

I think it’s one of those arguments where both of you guys are so dug in that you aren’t going to concede a point. I think you’re both arguing past each other at this point. Im as big a fan of off season trash talking as anyone but this thread has taken it to new levels! We can’t prove that Mullen is a better coach than smart, or who will win next year, or if anyone will get fired in the next few years. It’s all pure conjecture. It’s all in good fun but I don’t think anyone has changed anyone else’s mind here lol

Nope. This has become the bammer doing what he does, just arguing things to the death. He will not stop, even when the arguments break down. I don’t give a rats ass about Smart vs Mullen, but the bammer saying 2018 was bigger than 2017 is just his schtick. They had exactly the same things at stake.

I wouldn’t say we’re dug in (can’t speak for everyone else), but looking at things from a practical standpoint Kirby currently has the upper hand. Mullen certainly exceeded expectations in year one. I do give a rats ass by the way, as I hate losing to Florida and Mullen is Florida’s coach. We’ll see how it plays out.

And also because you’re a UGA fan.
Okay, I'll play your game and get down to your level. You're also a leg humping, nut licking, flea bag. I contribute more to UF each year than most people make, but just because I don't blow Al, you all think I'm a troll. I asked a sidestepping BAMA fan a question about who had the most talent and experience between the obese elephants and nut lickers. He, like he does the majority of the time, deflects the question and starts attacking the person posting. Then without fail, a few of the regulars jump on his coat tail and start accusing me of not being a Gator fan. The good news is, what you think and I know are at the opposite ends of the spectrum. It doesn't bother me and you'll never understand with your simple mind. I could write it in crayon and it would still be to complex, beyond your comprehension. fSUsuX

Right now you guys have bragging rights, that’s for sure. I don’t think the matter of who’s the better coach will be decided for awhile. Probably a couple decades at least, and even then it may not be 1000% clear

Of course. Plus Georgia was guaranteed a playoff spot if they won the 2018 SECCG as they were ranked #4 going into the game. They were ranked #6 in 2017, so while a playoff spot was likely with a win, it was far from guaranteed.

Additionally, the 2018 SECCG was against the #1 team, the 2017 SECCG was against the #2 team.

They know all this, they are just clinging to 2017 SECCG cause it's the one Kirby won.

LOL. I'm glad you gave up your corny shtick pretending to be a UF fan. I guess PhD's learn quickly.

Lifelong UF fan, who isn't afraid to call out Florida for sucking and praising Georgia for hiring an overmatched loser as a coach.

Imagine that.

Facts are corny to you? I love the Gators and the University of Florida. I like to ask questions to see who is man enough to answer them truthfully. 1921311920

Don't forget I hate BAMA, losers, and sidestepping pissants. Looks like BAMA pays players and Georgia has some possible violations within their recruiting department. From what I'm hearing they fired that chick because you suck.

What are those numbers? When I dialed it the secretary at the UGA football office answered. Kirby, is this you?

No. What’s corny to me are idiots who start new accounts, comment on EVERY thread about UGA and defends them in it, is too stupid to realize his post history is available for everybody to see, and continues to pretend to be a UF fan. Then brags about his so called PhD like the douche he is when called on it. Yet the PhD struggles to use the quote feature correctly. Nobody here is as dumb as you apparently are. You ain’t fooling anybody.

I'm no pro at playing video games while living in my parent's garage either.
