Is it true Mcelwain's nickname is "Swamp Donkey"? I heard that and didn't know if it was created by UF fan's affectionately (like "BOOM", but not as good) or if it's a jab by rival fans. Anyone familiar with this?

End hijack. Can't speculate on Cook's outcome.

You can't make this stuff up:

Six jurors and an alternate have been selected to hear the case against suspended FSU football player Dalvin Cook.

Among the jurors selected: an FSU employee, a construction manager and both a current and retired state worker.

If he's (she's) from the music department we're screwed!

End hijack, begin vacay...

I'll be watching the trial with a bunch of Gators. Oh, at Candy Fishers place. She loves Gators I hear.

That sounds like a pretty good guest list, as good as mine?

Holy crap, that has got to be the funniest thing I've read in a long time.....Wow, you are one sharp cookie...

Meh. He seems to be in a healthy marriage with a happy wife.

Updates/rumors:

The state tried to admit a FAKE Dalvin Cook twitter account as evidence and also tried to admit his juvenile record. A few other improper moves as well, resulting in the state getting sanctioned by the judge (rare.)

States main witness is now recanting their story.

Defense has a very "credible" witness that has details of the entire scene start to finish and refutes the states story of DC's involvement.

This will all be over soon.

1. That info didn't come from an attorney. The trial hasn't occurred so unless pretrial hearings have occurred (none reported), the State hasn't tried to "admit" anything. And with your "state trying to admit juvenile record" statement , i'm 99% sure you need to find another source.
2. I can't wait to hear what the new "saw and heard everything" "credible" witness is going to say. Where on the roster can I find his name?

Correction, the judge granted the motion for sanctions on Friday. I failed to mention another reason for sanctions, was they tried to interrogate DC in his apartment last week. So another questionable move by the state.

The defense witness is not a football player or acquaintance of DC or any affiliation to FSU.

Don't fret all will be revealed soon enough.

Home field is huge in football. I believe the home team wins nearly 73% of the time.

The 'state" has no real interest in prosecuting this case

The fix is already in. Being reported in multiple places there are FSU fans and an FSU employee on the jury.

"its really hard to remember all the details when have had to recount incident several times to police and attorneys"

Yes, we know.. it's hard to keep your story straight when you have to keep lying repeatedly.

I'm curious. Do you know the question that preceded that answer?

I don't think this is going to exonerate Cook outside the courtroom. Oh, he may get off, but it will be because the State was unable to prove their case, not because he didn't do anything wrong (at least how it's looking so far...need to hear his side). What happened to the good old days when folks testified on their own behalf, "I did not do it!" Enlighten me here, Bay, is it ALWAYS wise to keep your mouth shut in court, even when innocent?

Does it matter? If someone asks me to recall an incident that actually took place I can. The truth won't elude your memory. It's often the lies that are hard to keep organized. Would you not agree?

Of course it matters. There are memorable details and there are non-memorable details.

Understandably, defense attorneys harp on the non-memorable details (I.e. clothing and time descriptions - Describe his shirt. What color pants was he wearing? What time was it?) in an effort to damage credibility because questions about the memorable details (facial descriptions, demeanor descriptions) don't often help a defense case.

A soon-to-be-victim isn't focused on a shirt, pants, shoes or what time it is in the moments before she gets punched. She's usually focused on the attacker's face, what he is saying, which direction he ran.
