Meanwhile...Mike White has Florida Quietly Kicking Ass...

I agree, seems like since we've gotten more guys involved our level of play has increased. Let's keep it rolling. We have a tough stretch coming up.

With the win over No. 11 West Virginia on Saturday, the Gators moved to 2-2 against Quadrant 1 opponents, while they currently sport a 3-2 record against Quadrant 2 opponents. While Florida is a perfect 5-0 against Quadrant 3 and Quadrant 4. (5 good wins with 0 bad losses & still not in the AP Top 25)

FLORIDA'S NET TEAM PROFILE
Current NET Rank:

Quadrant 2: 3-2
Quadrant 3: 4-0
Quadrant 4: 1-0
Does anyone consistently play tougher schedules than Mike White?

Of Florida's 9 remaining games, 6 are currently against Quadrant 1 opponents, with 5 of the 6 on the road... o_O

PS -- Basketball Officiating across the board, is marginal at best.... 😏

Colin Castleton on Mike White's coaching in the WVa post game:
"Coach always tells me ‘don’t lead after you make a basket, lead when you’re 0-4, missed a rebound, and when things aren’t going your way’, because at the end of the day the team that we have will look up to me when I’m supposed to be leading and doing what I’m supposed to be doing. They all look to me to get the huddles together. Coach just teaches that a lot to me and the other guys as well. So just try to lead as much as you can when things may not be going your way.”

“On the court I think I’ve just been able to be comfortable,” he said. “You know I’m really confident in myself. I’ve never been more confident playing basketball (than right now). And I’m really enjoying what we’re doing here.” 🤓

Sorry GC1, but that's another load of crap.

Mike White has coached consistently. He doesn't change what he's doing as a coach from game to game, week to week, or month to month. When the makeup of the team's roster changes, then he makes his coaching adjustments to adapt to where they are at now.

His players are the one's that have been inconsistent at times, and when they are, he does what he can to address the situations. Injuries have been his Achilles heel since the E-8 season, and this season has been one of the worst so far. KJ out for the season, then Lewis and Castleton missing time. Mike just continues to coach his butt off through it all. 🤓

Well he's been consistently inconsistent. Last year proof in point. Pre-season 6 to bubble..

Projections were to make the tourney, others were on the bubble, not UF/Mike.

Cg1, that's just dumb... 🤓
Outsider ranking does not indicate what a coach is doing.
But you're welcome to diss on the media-morons for their own excesses all you like... ;)

SI - Brandon Carroll 1-30-21 -- for a 2nd opinion...
Overcoming the obstacles that have been set in their path, UF has been battle-tested. They’ve been knocked down but continue to find their way to their feet. As of late, they have been the ones standing tall in the end.

On Saturday, Mike White’s squad jumped another hurdle en route to an improbable story. To give credit where credit is due, Florida’s success is a direct testament to the job White has done this season. (and for every season that he's been at UF in iG's opinion)

But what's Mike done really?
Turned around a losing season (16-17) in his 1st season with 21 wins and an NIT Quarter-Final.
Never a losing season.
He makes a post season tourney every year.
Never a 1 & Done at the tourney.
Improved recruiting, again bringing in MickyD-AA's and killing it in the xfer area.
Mike has been a consistently superior coach.
His players have been inconsistent at times, aggravated by injuries in recent seasons.

Never a losing season. >>> which looks pretty consistent to me....

He's done his best job this season. Making the tourney each year does not hold the same meaning it did several years ago. Lordy, 68 teams make the tourney now. He needs to start competing for SEC titles now. The last 3 years we've slipped back since our elite 8 run. You play to win titles, not fill up silly stat sheets.

While you are welcome to that 'same meaning' opinion, it's just YOUR opinion and nothing more.

With the raise of the SEC's overall conference strength, I'd say that it means more now than ever.
Teams currently projected to make the dance: UA-TN-UF-Mizz- with 3-4 more on the bubble.
With 6-8 SEC teams projected to make the Tourney, it's not the same conference that it was 10-15 years ago.

Simplistic and Sophomoric to only look at Championships when judging a coaches job. 😏
So 68 teams make the Tourney every year, while 272 of them don't make it.
And Mike White has finished inside the Top 10% every year at UF, 340/32 (9.4%)

And just so's I know that you're not just being a parrot for the haters, could you list for me the names of the players that have missed games (up to entire seasons) in the last 4 seasons. Then give me your own judgment on the affect that those injuries had on the team? --- I'll wait....

==========

The evolution of the Florida offense post Keyontae Jonson is starting to take shape. It’s been a lot of work in between game prep for the next team. Florida gets just a couple of days off in between games and so the time is short to make changes, but little by little they have persevered. Florida head coach Mike White says what we saw versus West Virginia was something he expects to see more often than not moving forward.

FLORIDA GATORS
AP 22. - 3. SEC (10-4, 6-3)

Florida has won four games in a row after a huge road win over West Virginia on Saturday, and the Gators can put themselves in commanding position for a double bye in the SEC Tournament if they beat South Carolina at home on Wednesday. Then comes a big challenge over the weekend: a trip to LSU.

The offense continues to thrive even without Keyontae Johnson. Coach Mike White deserves plenty of credit for the job he has done this season, and it seems like the Gators are only getting better. -- 247

Well, White laid an egg tonight, getting beat at home by a BAD South Carolina team that lost to Vandy Saturday and came in 4-6, 2-4 in the SEC. Didn't score a field goal the last 6 minutes of the game, outscored 13-1 down the stretch. Tonight demonstrates the problem that many Gator fans have with Mike White. Inconsistency from his team. A really nice 4 game winning streak and then losing to a team they should beat easily. High quality programs just don't lose these type of games. That's why I said earlier when people were raving about beating Tennessee & West Virginia - Let's see how the season plays out. Next 2 games at LSU & at Tennessee.

Mike White’s teams are consistently inconsistent. That’s been the MO for 6 years. It isn’t going to change now. That is why I said after the 4 game winning steak that I need to see more. Mike White is who he is.

And why are we walking the ball up under two minutes to play and down two possessions?

All that good work over the last few weeks absolutely squandered with a face plant against this team. This is frustrating.

Ooops...as I was saying, his teams are consistently inconsistent. It's his trademark quite frankly.

lol same coach White mess. Imo he will be on a real warm seat next season short of a top 4 seed or a Sweet 16 appearance.

If there is one thing we should have learned by now, it’s that judging a college basketball team week to week in the beginning of February ain’t a smart idea.

The inconsistency is an issue, but let’s be real...given the circumstances surrounding this team, if we make the tournament and look halfway descent doing it, White’s seat won’t be, and shouldn’t be, any hotter than it has ever been...

Not imo unless we are just going to say basketball wasn't elevated after Donovan's years.

I think even that 16/17 Elite 8 team was still Donovan's recruits doing all the producing that season. No excuse for White not to step up this season after the recruits he has signed.

No doubt with the KJ situation it has been an emotional roller coaster so far. Let’s see if they can rally again and finish strong.

It's literally the same thing every year.

whet some you want?

so if he randomly makes the Sweet 16....then....he should hang around 5 more years? Doing the same thing?

Maybe I’m just kidding myself. Just hoping the light would come and coach would figure it out. He’s a likable guy, he’s doesn’t say embarrassing stuff in interviews, heck of a recruiter. I guess I’m just spoiled by the class and coaching ability of Billy Donovan.

I don't disagree with this. Get us into the tourney considering everything, and his seat shouldn't be warm. Miss the tourney, which is a very real possibility when you look at our remaining schedule, and he needs to be on a short leash next season.

We do seem to have this same discussion every year. But, do people really think there is somebody out there that is going to be doing THAT much better?!?!?!?!? What do people want? Do you really think somebody else would have gotten us to the Final Four or to a National Title over White’s tenure...

like....get real...people seem to have no idea what realistic expectations are in college basketball...

Yes. Maybe not a Final Four or National Title but through 5 years we have only had 1 good year. This is Year 6 and we will see how we finish up.

What may/will be sickening is watching Bama not only win the SEC in football, but win it in basketball, and their fans won't even take notice of what's going on with their hoops program, even if they win the NCAA Championship.

If it's any consolation, we won't be able to witness Mike White coaching this weekend.

What the hell happened? It's pretty simple really.... 🤓

SCa outscored Florida 37-26 in the 2nd half by shooting 52%, while the Gators shot just 32%. o_O

UF came into the game ranked 1st in the SEC in 3-point shooting, at 38.3%, but they knocked down just 7 of 25 from deep, 28%.

Then Florida missed its last 8 field-goal attempts, and 9 of its last 10.
Zero-for-their last-8 and only 1 for their last 10. 😏
That from the team that came into the game ranked 1st in the SEC in field-goal percentage at 47.9%.

So, it was not bad coaching by White.
Not a bad offensive system by White.
And it wasn't ranking over confidence by the team either.
Just an off night shooting by the players, which can happen to any team.
And in SEC games, that amounts to a loss most times.

Now to top that off, they are back in the Kung-Flu scamdemic quarantine.... 😕

PS ~~ The game officials remain just as mediocre as is typical for them...
