McCarthy has been removed as House Speaker

So does this mean DJT fits this? I mean, he was wealthy coming into office. How much time have you or anyone else on this board sat in spaces listening to Gaetz give his time to talk to a bunch of people he doesn’t know? How many other politicians jump into random spaces to check the temperature of people?

I have seen him spend hundred of hours, late at night, just having discussions with groups of people online. This one MOVE is literally going to decimate his chances to get funding from wealthy donors, and the Establishment will come for him. He knows it, you know it. Sounds really corrupt to me.
Trump owns a business...Matt was an attorney...and is young. Same as most politicians..he did NOT make that much money being a junior member in his office.

GREAT find.

I don't dislike Levin. He's an astute legal mind and a Constitutional scholar.

But he's as establishment as they come. Old school AF.
So do we all remember what happened in January? It wasn't Matt Gaetz that added the motion to vacate as a poison pill in McCarthy's Speakership, it was THE FREEDOM CAUCUS. Like 15-20 of the so-called America First reps came together and said we want a motion to vacate option if McCarthy is speaker.

That was their thing, and they needed FC votes to put McCarthy over the top.

So come time (actually PAST time) to exercise the option, and Gaetz is the only one willing to pull the trigger.

We shouldn't be asking why Gaetz is doing this, we should be asking why the FREEDOM CAUCUS isn't doing this. It looks like most of them DIDN'T EVEN VOTE TO VACATE.

That makes them no different than mccain when he got out of a hospital bed at 3am to be the deciding vote that SAVED obamacare.....after he campaigned on ending it.

Sorry, Matt Gaetz did his job. I still think he's a smarmy jackass, but he deserves a pat on the back over this. The people like Lauren Boebert and Byron Donalds that didn't vote to vacate are the ones that should be answering some hard questions right now.

Bingo. Gaetz is doing PRECISELY what everyone on the right has always claimed we wanted: For the people we elect to be held accountable.

If we throw him under the bus for doing what WE SAID WE WANTED then we might as well park our butts on the porch next to goldie and theo and tell ourselves that we aren't really RINOs either.
Bingo!!!

This clown ( Gaetz) is a Benedict Arnold. He killed a CR slashing spending by 8% and strengthening border security. Now he plots and schemes with the most radical Marxist Democrats in the House, including AOC and the Progressive Caucus. Reject this demagogue. HE is the uniparty leader. And he has no intention of cutting spending or securing the border.

Sorry Nail, Levin is NOT God. I don't stand with everything he says like gospel. He has his viewpoints and not all of them are correct, IMO.

Matts Father was a financial evaluation adviser prior to politics. His net worth prior to politics was around 30 million. Same as it is today. So whether its owning a business or investments the point remains the same.

Q: What significant financial move did Don Gaetz make outside of politics?
A: He was involved in the sale of VITAS, a hospice company, in 2004, which contributed significantly to his wealth.”

Here you go.

Still haven’t seen the question answered.

Did Mccarthy break his agreement?

If so, should he be held accountable, knowing what the consequences that he agreed to, were?
Yep. Every time it comes time to follow through and hold RINOs accountable, the media steps in to spin that we need to protect them, and some of 'our side' caves to media pressure.

One thing Trump coming on the scene did was expose all those uni-party Bush lackeys like Chip Soy and company who lie non-stop while stabbing good Reps trying to stop the Dems like the AG in TX in the back. The clown was literally praising the witnesses against Paxton during the joke trial that had no real evidence. He also was praising Liz Cheney for the Jan 6th Democrat nonsense. Biggest POS in Washington.

It’s bonkers that people are so susceptible to media spin that they forget the things they cheered on that quickly.

This is what governing accountability looks like. This is what WINNING, looks like.

The fact the media, including and especially your favorite Foxnews contributors are so upset….should tell you everything.

Damn this is a great day for the people.

Half of me loves this and the other half feels like Jordan is about to expose himself as a RINO.
Yep. It’s a process we have to go through.

Amazing that it took this for Republicans to kick Nance to the curb.

Matt Gaetz is a Hero for opening more eyes.

Reps are a joke. What do you think the chances are Dems would vote to impeach Biden on valid charges like Reps did Trump on made up nonsense. I think if Trump can stay out of prison on some joke DC charge with what is happening lately the uni-party scum like Chip Soy and friends can be severely weakened if Trump wins 2024.

Here's an analysis I just heard that's interesting...

The dems that voted to vacate most likely assumed McCarthy was going to run to Nanny Pelosi and give her whatever she wanted to allow him to stay in power - if certain members are told to vote a certain way by Pelosi they will.

Now that McCarthy bowed out...they're likely pooping masonry that this could backfire bigly.

That would certainly fall in line with Nance and her staff finally being removed from offices that didn’t belong to them.

We know Kevin broke many of the things he agreed to do when trying to gain the speakership. That’s a fact. It’s my belief that he thought he could leverage the media, fellow rinos, and his buddies on the left as insurance, and that Gaetz would only be able to bluff. That’s why he so brazenly tweeted “bring it on”.

It didn’t age well.

I highly encourage folks to get on twitter. See which of your representatives are engaging in public discourse in spaces. See which ones are tweeting, but ignoring the responses etc.

Do you want representation that actually answers their constituents, or ones that just run to the media to spew talking points?

No, Twitter isn’t the end all be all. Yes, there is still censorship on twitter. But one thing that Elon has gotten right….Spaces for public discourse, and Matt REGULARLY jumps into random ones and answers questions. He is one of the VERY few to do this. Just like the very few reps that have people answer their phones.

What are your reps doing?

Fraud lawsuit[edit]

Further information: VITAS Healthcare § Department of Justice lawsuit
In 2013, the U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against VITAS for allegedly committing Medicare fraud since 2002, when Gaetz still worked at the company. Gaetz denied any role in any wrongdoing that occurred.[19] The case was settled in January 2018 with a confidential settlement.[20]

This was Don Gaetz
Ummm. Ok. That’s it?

Like the DOJ that’s targeting Trump? That DOJ? That’s some deep digging. I am not saying he did or didn’t do anything wrong but that sure doesn’t seem like much tying Gaetz (as an investor) to wrongdoing. And it really isn’t much of a “Skeleton” for the younger Gaetz.

We either trust the feds or we don’t brother. We can’t be selective with it. Just my 2 cents.

Lastly I will say this. It’s interesting that folks are all the sudden interested in smear attempts, but not the act of doing EXACTLY what Matt promised he would do.

Seems the focus is intentionally being diverted to something pretty damn irrelevant. Just my 2 cents.

No...this stuff happened in the 80's and 90's...and probably has been cleansed from the web. He was run OUT of S Florida

I know of a deputy sheriff fired because he wrote Matt for a DUI on Okaloosa Island. The Sheriff at the time FIRED the deputy because he wrote him a DUI. Says he quit...but that is not correct. I know his former partner...he was fired.

If Jordan wins the Speakership, his testing will begin.
Afterthought. Let's say Jordan wins Speaker and goes on a torrid run immediately. Comes in and hits the ground running and kicks ass immediately.

Could that set him up to be Trump's VP pick? Possibly. He would have to kick a ton of ass in a very short window, but a byproduct of doing so would be him being elevated into the VP conversation.

I don’t quite get how this will cost the R’s the house…I think if a more conservative Speaker is voted in it’ll rally the base.
It might. IF it becomes the shitshow it was to even get McCarthy in, and it drags on and on, the DEMS will definitely campaign on it. Vote DEM the Repubs can't even seat the Speaker; The Repubs are more worried about fighting against themselves then helping this Country, etc.

I have no clue why you’re reaching this far for something. But that’s a pretty weak skeleton IMO.

So what we’re saying is that at some point in Matts life, he made the mistake of “allegedly” drinking and driving. An officer wrote him a DUI, and an officer was “allegedly” fired for this action alone?

If, and it sounds like a BIG IF, with lots of hearsay, this is true….

Then the list of people qualified to serve may not be long enough to fill all the seats in the House. This story happens everyday in America. It’s not right, but wealthy people getting out of trouble due to their wealth happens everyday in this country.

When you said Matt had skeletons I thought you had him on video molesting a puppy or something. 😉

I will end with this. Gaetz actions legislating mean much more to me than some “alleged” action from years ago on a DUI.

Why? Because I made stupid mistakes when I was young as well.

True. Testing reveals alliances.

McCarthy got tested, he failed.

Gaetz got tested, he passed.

Boebert and Donalds got tested, they failed.

Biggs got tested, he passed.

If Jordan wins the Speakership, his testing will begin.
Very disappointed in Boebert and Donalds. MTG had already failed other tests.

Did McCarthy allow Pelosi to keep the Speaker’s hideaway office b/c she had leverage on him? She either knew of potential affair(s) or his dirty deals with Sequoia Capital and said “you work for me now.” Think about that. We took the House but Pelosi still kept the Speaker’s office. McCarthy was working for Pelosi the entire time. That’s why nothing got done except performative theater. And that pisses me off.

I do not know if it's true, but supposedly, the ex speaker always gets a small office space their at the Capitol.
