McCarthy has been removed as House Speaker

Fortune favors the bold.

This is a risky move and I don't think Gaetz is all that bright. I doubt he is smart enough to do a proper risk analysis.

On one hand this is like war and often one can not fully predict how a plan will play out and it could be a disaster. On the other hand Gaetz and the country might just luck out.

Gaetz is gambling and will claim to be a genius should things work out.
I agree 100%.

But no one ever gets held accountable. People can't be upset about that and then complain this was the wrong move...something about having cake and eating it...

Because spineless McCarthy didn't keep ANY of the promises he made to the far right wing of the party that enforced the 1 member call to vacate rule.

He knew he was on thin ice and he gave the double barrel anyway calling Gaetz' bluff. And that clearly was the wrong move.

Let's see who the next speaker is before we get too mad. I highly doubt a moderate is going to want the gavel.

I would like to see Jordan or Donald’s. I think that would be a win

Yep, I've seen Jordan's name pop up twice this am.

That would be a massive win. He's a bulldog.

If nothing else it can't be worse as McCarthy was folding on almost everything. That so many refused to vote him out is telling though. I think some were just playing a political game hoping to be the next Speaker or they actually believed that nonsense that kicking him to the curb would make things worse.

Gaetz got him an establishment Republican. I bet they come back after him...and I PROMISE...Gaetz DOES have serious skeletons in his closet. Votes VERY conservative...HATES establishment republicans...but I bet this comes back to bite his A**
It also appears that Gaetz has no plan and just wanted McCarthy out. Now what??? A True conservative will not be able to win the Speaker. And I seriously doubt these Repubs can/would agree to bring in someone from the outside. Gaetz played right into the Dems hands. They are cheering him on. This is a mess and will be until the 2024 election. DO NOT be surprised if the Dems take back the House in 2024.

Thanks to the 8 ( 4% of republicans ) self serving anarchist who call themselves conservatives voted with 210 Marxist. These 8 reprobates have never accomplished a damn thing In their political career. These 8 fools have all voted for massive spending in the past.

Gaetz kneecapped the conservatives in the house and senate Friday night killing a great deal Byron Donald’s had produced which Gaeyz new would seal McCarthys fate.

Don't be surprised if he wins it. ALL he needs is something like 5 Repubs to vote for him.

No he isn’t. He ripped apart the Tea Party, voted to not fine schiff etc, amongst many other things.

These CR’s are not the way to do business. Mccarthy had broken many of the things this congress agreed to do. That’s besides the fact that he had a backdoor deal with dems on Ukraine. Ousting that Rino Mccarthy is fantastic.
True, IF you have an actual plan to get a Conservative in there to replace him. If you heard Gaetz interview afterward, he has NO Plan and seems willing to vote for anybody. Maybe next week we will get a nice surprise, but having watched this Repub party, I have no faith that a true conservative could get enough votes to win.

You’re taking the establishment narrative hook, line and sinker.

And I’m not saying you’re wrong but let it play out before we decide this was a terrible move.

Not a Gaetz fan, but surely he did some work behind the scenes to figure out where he had votes in the 48 hours it took to execute this. If someone more conservative is voted in this was a genius move.

My prediction is no moderate will want to touch the gavel after what happened to McCarthy. It’ll take the RINO’s a few days of losing votes to figure this out and they’ll eventually hold their nose and vote in someone like Jordan.

I don’t quite get how this will cost the R’s the house…I think if a more conservative Speaker is voted in it’ll rally the base.

Is Trump a moderate? If that’s the way to go why is he 40-50pts ahead of DeSantis?

I’m concerned about the reports that Gaetz had discussions with AOC and her ilk… but McCarthy’s failure to kick all those extra IRS agents to the curb was definitely a bad sign.

At the very least, a decent budget negotiation would’ve forced Demoncrats to run to the Media with fresh lies about how the IRS is the average citizen’s new BFF.
I live in Gaetz's district and know EXACTLY who he is. He will do or say ANYTHING to further his career. CROOKED POS. I do not know enough about this subject to understand if I like the move or not. One thing I am sure of...McCarthy is a much better person than Matt Gaetz is. That does not mean this move was a bad one...I just know much of it was a vendetta towards McCarthy because of an ethics investigation on Gaetz. And my guess Gaetz is guilty as sin.

I know much less about Gaetz than you do, and generally find him to be smarmy, but the last time he was investigated it was a complete setup.

But McCarthy was acting like a big fat RINO as Speaker. Worst case we get another RINO, but I doubt it.

Nice man? Sure. A fighter to pull Congress in a more conservative direction? Nope.

This is where I am at. And I am not a fan of his either...but have held my nose while he has been in office...and so far he has voted well for our district. I am kind of wondering how this stunt is going to affect his career. Rumor is he wants Governor...but I can promise his sights are set higher than that...probably sees himself being POTUS one day. I could never vote for him for either...unless he was running against a RAT.

I guess my biggest concern is that the DEMS wanted this because they already have the Repubs votes they need to put Hakkem into the Speakership.

Chip is awful.

The weird part, Gaetz has literally been fighting harder than any America first representative for America to return to our founders intentions.

Folks really need to stop watching the media and pay attention to what/who is actually doing what.

These ethics “violations” only seem to occur to people fighting the establishment. Come on folks, it’s time to be diligent.

We get rid of a Rino. Many on here have been calling him that for years. And we’re upset about it? Yikes.

We are in deep shat.

He shot that Rumor down. The establishment will do ANYTHING to rid themselves of America First so that they can get back to their money laundering.

Wrong take. Gaetz has MANY, MANY skeletons to hide...his whole family does. How could he be worth 50 MILLION if not for getting kick backs of some sorts. Google his Dad, don deeply. They are CROOKED as hell. And ALL about themselves. I get he may be doing what is right...but for ALL the wrong reasons.

spot on.

Gaetz is a POS demagogue who repeatedly lied during the House floor debate yesterday, and then, of course, simultaneously was fundraising and collecting email lists on behalf of the people. He insisted that the House failed to bring up 12 separate appropriations bills. The fact is they could not get them out of committee because Democrats wanted to spend a great deal more, which would have blown up the budget further, and conservatives opposed the bills. It had nothing to do with a refusal by McCarthy to oppose regular order. McCarthy refused to go along with a CR that essentially adopted the Senate omnibus spending agreed to, yet again, by McConnell and Schumer. Yet, Gaetz kept insisting otherwise. Gaetz said he's sick and tired of deficit spending and pointed to the $33 trillion debt. I know of few conservatives who disagree. But what has he done about it? He didn't go to the House floor, certainly not on a regular and sustained basis, and hammer away on the outrageous, massive spending for COVID funds, which were used for every imaginable purpose other than COVID and drove the debt through the roof. Gaetz demanded that the former speaker intervene in his ethics investigation and kill it, and despite text messages to the contrary, denied it. During his ramblings yesterday, Gaetz blamed House Republicans, who passed the most aggressive bill to secure the border from the ongoing invasion orchestrated by Biden and the Democrats, for not securing the border. And the worst, to me, is Gaetz working with the Marxists in the Democrat Party, who are literally destroying our country politically, culturally, and every other way, then denying it, while accusing the former speaker of being the Democrats' speaker, trashing Jim Jordan and Jamie Comer's investigations, accusing Chip Roy of being a RINO, and not uttering one word against Hakeem Jeffries, AOC, or the rest of the reprobates. At the same time, he was frantically fundraising off his anarchy, on behalf of the people and the republic, of course, positioning himself as the David taking on Goliath. Gaetz and the others wound up killing the greatest effort to slash domestic spending in our lifetimes (30%), worked out with the Senate conservatives who wanted to use the House bill as leverage against McConnell, and now the Democrats control it all. This had nothing to do with saving the country, regular order, the debt, etc. This was an unprincipled, personal, political attack led by a demagogue who repeatedly lies to conservatives and the public generally, and who is the favorite Republican of the Democrat Party and their media.

So does this mean DJT fits this? I mean, he was wealthy coming into office. How much time have you or anyone else on this board sat in spaces listening to Gaetz give his time to talk to a bunch of people he doesn’t know? How many other politicians jump into random spaces to check the temperature of people?

I have seen him spend hundred of hours, late at night, just having discussions with groups of people online. This one MOVE is literally going to decimate his chances to get funding from wealthy donors, and the Establishment will come for him. He knows it, you know it. Sounds really corrupt to me.

Lot of BS in this post. Lots.

Hell, Kevin didn’t even have the guts to kick Pelosi out of HIS office.

Here is the guy you are defending.

Simple question. Did Mccarthy break any of the things he agreed to, to get the votes to be speaker?

Accountability is what all of us have wanted, and when we finally get it….

Great thread for those interested in knowing what Mccarthy broke to get us here today. Notice the clip towards the end….as I referenced earlier, this is Matt sitting in a space after a full day in Congress. I wonder if Mccarthy engages with constituents like this? 🤔

So again I will ask. Did Mccarthy break any of his agreements?

As a side note, was ANYTHING coming of all those investigations? They weren’t serious investigations folks. How about defunding some of the corrupt organizations? Did the speaker take action and throw serious support behind those efforts?

Bingo. Gaetz is doing PRECISELY what everyone on the right has always claimed we wanted: For the people we elect to be held accountable.

If we throw him under the bus for doing what WE SAID WE WANTED then we might as well park our butts on the porch next to goldie and theo and tell ourselves that we aren't really RINOs either.

Very possible...I just know there are MANY bad things in his and his dads closet. I mean I can look at the damn guy and feel dirty. Google Don Gaetz when he lived in S Florida...they ran him out of town down there
