Bannon, along with three others, allegedly defrauded donors out of hundreds of thousands of dollars for their own profit with a crowdfunding campaign called "We Build the Wall" that raked in over $25 million.

The indictment says that Bannon, via a non-profit, took in over $1 million from the scheme "and at least some of it was used to cover hundreds of thousands of dollars in [his] personal expenses."

People can take a salary when running a non-profit. Not sure what he supposedly did but one is innocent until proven guilty. This smells of politics and is coming out of NY!

I can not find the orgs 990 But status was not granted until July of 2019 and filing was delayed until Jul 15 2020. Its just August so the form may not be available for review. IMHO it should be hard to do something stupid in year 1 and this org has lawyers and accountants. At this size of fundraising you have to have an audit by a 3rd party.

Its best to just do a w2 and pay things with the after tax left overs. Whatever he did may be justified, unintentional or not.

Sometimes whats legal or illegal depends on how one "holds their head" while doing it.

You should see some things public housing does for its executives and staff. Some of the benefits require some loopholes to get done and the persons never "personally" own anything but they sure as heck benefit from the Taj Mahal office they spend 8+ hrs in or the provided vehicle some get to take home.

Disclaimer: Some of the older buildings are not as plush and are run down. I do not like Bannon and never have.
