Looks like we have a coaching issue

We were lucky to beat UT, (for the 11th Consecutive time btw) the gameplan wasn't special.
UGa was checked out by the time we played them.

Georgia was checked out by the time UF played them? WTH???
Before losing -24 to UF, they had lost to Tn -7 and early to UA -28
They came in to the WLOCP at 5-2, 3-2 SEC.

L UGA 3 - 27 UF

W UGA 27 - 3 UK
W UGA 20 - 13 AU
W UGA 23-17 GaSo (9-4)
W UGA 13 - 7 GaTech (in-state rivals)
W UGA 24 - 17 PSU Bowl

UGA finished at 10-3, 5-3 SEC on a 5 game winning streak and #2 in the SECe. o_O

Insta is correct. UGA finished on 5 game winning streak after they lost to UF. UGA was still playing for the East when they played UF. That was a big game.

The 2016 class doesn't look promising, but the 2017 class is shaping up well. First, Alexander (top 50 recruit), now this kid who is another top 50 kid. We need some big men, but I think we also have a good shot at one or two of the Orlando kids on the wing. I wouldn't think this kid means we don't want them, but who knows?

Florida head coach Mike White added his second 2017 commit late Monday night when Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy small forward DeAundrae Ballard committed to the Gators. The 6-foot-6, 170-pound Ballard is ranked as the No. 58 overall prospect in the 2017 class according to the industry generated 247Sports Composite.

Ballard joines shooting guard Shai Alexander in Florida's 2017 class. A class that currently ranks as the No. 3 in the nation and No. 2 in the SEC.

6-6 SF, ranked 44 by 247 sports.

Hmmm...and their head coach got fired as a result of it all. Guess UGA figured if they couldn't win the east last year with Richt, they never would.

Word has it that UGA was really, really worried about losing Smart to USCe. Prior to Richt being fired, the Gamecocks had made some serious inroads into luring Smart to South Carolina. They pulled the trigger on Richt to pursue Smart.

lorida basketball landed a massive commitment for the 2016 recruiting class on Sunday evening when big man Gorjok Gak announced his verbal pledge on Twitter.

The 6-foot-10, 205-pound center from Bradenton, Fla., initially committed to Oklahoma State and signed with the Cowboys, but he was let out of his national letter of intent when Oklahoma State parted ways with head coach Travis Ford.

Coach Mike White was able to secure his pledge over the likes of Nebraska, Virginia Tech and others.

"First off I'd like to say thank you to all the great college programs who have been heavily recruiting me," Gak wrote on Twitter. "Today I'm blessed to say that I am committing to the University of Florida.

"It's been a long and rugged process but couldn't have done it without my family and basketball family. It's a good day to be a GATOR!!"

Gak is rated as a three-star prospect but ranks as the No. 190 overall player in the country in the 247Composite, an industry-generated recruiting ranking.

White has been on a roll on the recruiting trail lately. Last week he landed a pledge from four-star small forward DeAundrae Ballard, the nation's No. 58 player in the 2017 recruiting class. Ballard joined guard Shai Alexander, another four-star prospect who is rated as the No. 49 overall player in the country in the 2017 class.

Makes sense.

BillyD in 2014-15 was 16-17, 8-10 SEC
Coaching Issues?
White in 2015-16 was 21-15 - 9-9 SEC, NIT Quarter-finalist

The BillyD recruited combo of Walker/Ramirez (both xfer-out). They shot 21.1% from the floor, and 15.4% 3 Pt's while combining for just 3.6 pts/gm in 2015.

Gak & Barry will replace D.Walker rsSr & B.F-Ramirez rsSo on UF's roster. Upgrade?

SG/SF Canyon Barry 6-6 - 210 Sr - Colo-Sgs, Colo - Academic AA
(He the youngest son of NBA HoF'er Rick Barry)
Rated the #1 Player in the Grad-xfer pool by ESPN.
He shoots 'granny' FT's, but at 76.5%

C/PF Gorjok Gak 6-11 205 Fr -- ESPN ranked him as a Top 10 Recruit.
Gak has an 88 inch (7'-4") wing span and he runs like a deer!

They will join PG Eric Hester and PF Dontay Bassett on the 2016-17 roster.

White's next (2017) Class already includes: (per 247)
SF DeAundrae Ballard, the #58 Player & SG/PG Shai Alexander the #49 Player.
247 Ranks that as the #3 Class for 2017. (choke-la-homa has the #25 class) :p

White still has one more 2016 open scholarship to use or to hold for more 2017 additions.

Insta:" signed the # 1 recruit"-- from his high school. Reality : top 10 recruit-- in the state. smh.

The reality is that I trust my coaches to know who to bring it to meet UF's requirements, and to fit into White's system and with the current roster/team. o_O

Where was Chris 'Sky' Walker rated, what did he accomplish while at UF, and where is he now, for the most recent 'big-man' recruit ranking service example....

Mike White brought in Grad-xfer SG/SF Canyon Barry Sr, a 6-6 for a single season (2016-17) of eligibility. So who fills that hole after his coming one season is over?

Mike White just added another xfer from VaTech that will sit out 2016, then be eligible for 2 years.
SG/SF Jalen Hudson 6-5 195 **** - (by one service or another)
24 Starts in 35 games, 8.4 pts, 2.3 Rbs, .9 Asts, .6 Stls, 20 min/gm.

He was only a 3 star per 247, but then Wilbekin was also rated just a 2-3 star in HS.
2015-16 - FG's 40.1% - 3Pt 34.6% - FT's 67%

UF's Nuclear Engineering Program helps White land Barry as a Grad-xfer, Academic AA. “The University of Florida is a great fit for me for several reasons,” Barry said. “First, they have an exceptional Nuclear Engineering program and actually have one of the only nuclear training reactors in the southeast.” (Cal and NW also wanted him, among several others)

Some seem to, but I have no real or important issues with our 2 new coaches.
They both are doing great as 1st year coaches (10-4 -- 21-15), and I think that both are doing quite well so far with their rebuild recruiting. No worries mates! :)

Florida in the SEC/Big 12 Basketball Challenge

Dec. 10, 2013 (Gainesville): #19 Florida 67, #13 Kansas 61 (-6)

Dec. 8, 2014 (Lawrence): #11 Kansas 71, NR Florida 65 (-6)
The Gators went 1-1 with mighty Kansas, and both times UF was lower rated.
The Gators only lost by -6 @ KU as a NR team.

Jan. 30, 2016 (Gainesville): NR Florida 88, #9 West Virginia 71 (-17)
Not ranked UF vs #9 W.Va and UF wins by a 17 point margin....

Not to bad for a 1st year coach that the 'nail-choker' thinks has problems... o_O

>>>>> Jan. 28 2017 (Norman, OK): NR Florida ??, OR Choke-la-home ??

(NR = Not in Top 25 --- OR = Over-Rated - as usual)

==========

UF is 2-1 in the SEC vs BigTwelve/10 Challenge so far.

Florida was ranked #19, NR, NR. They played against #13, #11, and #9.
I guess that's 'not to bad,' for the Gator's so far, huh? chomp

This is kind of a strange example, since our coach gave him a scholarship, not the recruiting services.

UGA checked out but were still in the thick of the east race, as well won 5 consecutive games after playing UF.

And not to mention we actually had some offensive firepower to make that awesome comeback against UT.

Luck? No. Close game? Yes.

Luck? gtfo

I don't know why this Michi is even a sports fan. It sounds like a miserable experience for him.

Maybe not lucky, although I sure thought we were going to lose. Definitely an amazing individual effort by Callaway.

Yeah, Callaway threw that ball to himself, and Brandon Powell had nothing to do with springing him for the TD, it was all 'individual' effort on Callaway's part... .

The throw was nothing special imo. Callaway made the play what it was.

Nonetheless, back to the original point, the play calling in that game was average

It was a great throw and a great block. Most guys still aren't going to score on that play.

Not to belabor the point to much, but most guys are never going to even step on the field in the SWAMP.... o_O

Callaway did a very good job on that play, I was just commenting on the 'individual effort' portion of the comment. No harm, no foul. ;)
