Looking forward to 2025 Gator Football

The Lagway family, in consultation with the Florida staff and team and private physicians, has decided on rest and rehab this offseason instead of any potential surgery — which would now prevent Lagway from playing most or all of the 2025 season.
(Every article that I have read echoes those words)

Yep Napier may have screwed up big time here on the surgery situation. Don't see any reason why the smart move wasn't to do the surgery after the FSU game.

In this case, ole Nappy is not the only one, or even the primary one to blame for the 'wait' decision.
Brings me to the question of why you're pushing so hard to hang this one solely on ole Nappy???

Napier is primarily responsible. The family very rarely will go against the head coach's wishes on this. Napier owns what happens with this after not letting the surgery happen after the FSU game. About as naive as many of his in game calls the last 3 seasons and his ability to get special teams lined up and on the field correctly. We are screwed if this flares up in camp or the regular season. It's already screwed Lagway out of a real spring with nothing to show for putting off the surgery.

Anyone go and watch the spring game?

It sounds like some of the young skill players had nice plays. Bailey threw for a lot but was sacked like 5 times. Not sure if it was mostly an O line issue or not. Curious how the line blocked on those plays.

"But in general, he's (Lagway) doing great. Today he played every play from behind. He stood back there with me, got the play call. We've been having him call some plays in seven-on-seven drills, just to kind of reiterate that communication. I think we've given him some leadership assignments. We're doing a ton of walk through rooms, in the Gator Room and the Heavener Center. So overall, he continues to get a little bit better each day."

One thing is for sure, we haven't had the level of talent offensively we have on this roster in a LONG time.. We have some straight NFL mutants at WR and RB especially.. Dallas Wilson is gonna immediately shit on SEC DB's and Jackson Jesus Christ that kid is gonna be unbelievable as a sophomore.. We have way too many options to be stagnant and predictable on offense, this team is loaded there's no excuses from what I'm seeing and hearing talking to other coaches. We have really good TE's too, if Lagway is healthy watch the f out.

Yep if the O line is good enough like we think it is this team has some playmakers at the skill positions. If Dallas Wilson and Sturdivant are the real deal we should have a very good offense this season if Lagway stays healthy. I doubt even Napier can screw this group up too much.

That's been the idea the entire time.. Get a team so good he can't f it up

Agree - We can have a great QB and a lot of skilled position players, but if the O-line isn't doing it's job it won;t matter. The key to me, as it has been for years, is the play of the offensive line - plus the play calling, which has been a problem under the current coach.

I think the O line will be alright and having a QB like Lagway who can move good always reduces the sacks. Just need Lagway to get those practice reps on the shorter stuff as we know teams will go heavy coverage on passing downs until we burn them enough on it.

did we not return most of the same OL?

They were really good in run blocking last year, and Lagway just keeps everyone from sacking him anyway himself.. and has the quickest release in college football, and can throw from any arm angle. The offense better be good, there isn't one excuse for it not to be.

Play calling is still an issue. Not a lot of creativity from Napier calling plays, IMO.

Callaway called all the plays last Saturday
whoever it was the route tree looked better than before but that is probably because we have a lot of good route runners now running free out there.. Vernell's son and Dallas looked like they can't be covered

I mean our wideouts made Warner look amazing in that scrimmage

The iG would like to see Jones win the backup slot in Fall practice, but we'll see how fast he can pick things up as a true Fr. BTW, the iG has no problem with an E-11 tFr as the backup to Lagway.

I would be surprised if it isn't Bailey. If Napier is crazy enough to make it Warner again who wasn't even anywhere near a starting spot at Yale he will deserve to get fired if Lagway did miss games.

BTW fever, DJ could be injured out in 2025 if he'd had the surgery or not, pre-worry is useless imo.

So why did the coach bring them in and pay them,,, if they can't get the job done???
Not sure. Why do well over half of the recruits never play a meaningful down at UF if they were brought in to get the job done? We appear to be talking to a Baylor DT who looks to be good depth at minimum like Robinson was.
