Jumping Ship?

Honestly, since we are not taking an OC or QB coach all I really care about is who is the top OL guy and who is the co-DC (I feel pretty confident I know who this will be). The others are pretty much reserved for recruiters. Just get guys with D1 and southern ties
I agree 1000%, and there is every indication that’s the direction we’ll be going. Are you happy with the names being floated? I’d be ecstatic if we got the guys they say we’re shooting for.

I am pretty convinced Tosh is the co-DC, especially after his non-denial when asked. If he and Corey Raymond are recruiting the defense, I think we will have talent.

Same with OL, like the names floated.

I hate that their is no OC or QB coach but time will tell. IMO too much for a guy who plans to pound the recruiting trail and do all that, not to mention the jump to the SEC. We shall see

But he is going going to hire an OC.

That's already been addressed.

Have you ever considered that he's telling them where they stand? Have you considered the players Mullen has recruited?

Are you even considering the recruits that he and the rest of our fledgling staff are focusing on?

In your head Billy went to Evers and tried to pitch him into staying (even though he had already said he was going to stay) and that Billy "screwed it up."

You realize he might have gone out there to talk about the future with him and the Evers family realized he wasn't a part of it because...you know....Billy may have basically said it.

No nuance with you as per usual.
Danny,

think you are right.
I wondered where this comment in Evers' decommit statement came from -

EDIT
The internet chatter on Evers is that, during the in-home, the Evers were disappointed when Napier made it clear that he wasn't planning for this to be a one QB class.

"...additionally, I want to thank Coach Napier for allowing me to be a small part of his vision."

Putting the quotes from Danny & ReRe together it adds up.

Gibson was my favorite WR and it is a position of need.
Paco,

Report on SI saying that Jacob Copeland has entered transfer portal. If true, and he leaves, our need for quality receivers is huge.

Unless Rick Wells can find another year of eligibility. But credit to Rick, he stuck it out and had a decent Sr year.

As everyone knows, working the portal is a stop gap method only.

I think the only other ULL coach could be Stapleton as one of the oline coaches since we are going to have 2 and I think the 2nd one is coming from the NFL or that is at least the hope. I think Stapleton played with the Steelers and is friends with Maurkice and Max Starks

We are sitting at the 79th ranked class for 2022. Hmm and let's be patient?

I mean.....who are you gonna blame? Are you trying to find somebody to blame?

Napier doesn't even have his full coaching staff squared away and firmly settled yet. Mullen is gone and no point focusing on him.

I think people knew it was going to get even worse before it got better....so why are you acting like this situation is the red alert?

I don't think you can just shrug off 4 decomitments in the last 24 hours. The part that's most disconcerting is there decomitting after they talk to Billy.

Because they were probably given some sense of promised playing time when Mullen was in control. It's been widely discussed how often Mullen would not start the better players.

Go look at AR-15, Pierce, etc.....Was Copeland really deserving his spot? Do you think we didn't have a more reliable wr?

Plus, a sports journalist reported how our practices were lacking discipline and seriousness compared to other programs. He said the players acted better than what they were.

Mullen had a culture that was very lax and, at times, immature(go look at how they refused to stay behind for tradition after a game, besides one player).

Frankly, it's possible that we are weeding out the Mullen recruits that we don't need.

Well to weed out any WR would be silly as that is certainly a huge “need”

This program is full of kids that really are low character people. We will just have to sit back and allow Napier to build and have serious patience. If these players were so good and so tough they wouldn’t have lost so many games to other P5 teams the last 12 months. It’s a roster full of selfish undisciplined boys and we need to let Napier recruit.
There is a reason all of the Florida schools are down and it has to do with character, lack of discipline, and a me first mentality. That sums up this roster.

It wouldn't be like some sort of questionnaire. It can be something as small as emphasizing hard work or the best player will get the most minutes.

Lots of "less talented" kids are put off by that. IF that is whats going on, than youre better off hitting the transfer portal and see what's out there rather than beg some entitled 3 star-worthy player, or less, to stay.

FYI, we have plenty of Athletes that can be used to convert to wr. Not ideal, but that's one of the purposes of the athlete position.

Its crazy we are getting this many that soon. Hopefully he starts convincing them to stay so we can be competitive the next 2 years.

It makes you wonder what was really going on under Mullen, more than anything to do with Napier.

Go to any very bad working environment, remove the boss in that situation, and watch how many people ends up quitting when the new boss doesn't play around.

That's common. They rather quit before the get fired.

Been thinking the same thing. It reeks of that environment.

3 Star Billy is off and running as he gets a 2022 ULL commit to flip to UF.

Well, him and 2 OL coaches will fix all of UF's OL problems....

Pretty sure if you're hamming it up with instagator's opinion and posts on something football related.....that should be a warning sign to you. Just sayin'

The way you constantly hammer Napier, before he's even got his feet wet, and how you're spurned about not getting kiffin.......it actually suggests you would be happy for UF to be unsuccessful with BN just so you could later say "I told you so".

Dude, I have no love for Kiffin, I posted go get Kiffin because I was stating Mullen was done.
And I don’t need an “I told you so”. I got that with Chump and Mac.

The bottom line is I posted a fact. The kid has two offers. They are from ULL and UF. Quit being upset, it is what it is

You must not pay much attention to the portal and how many kids are already in the portal from all over the country.

A flip from a 3 star that you were already recruiting is NO major commitment.

Like quotes from the Rats, it depends on which coach/person you're talking about at the time.
But all of the time, Little Loopy Lizzy is a clueless twit-dweeb....

Agree, Free agency is in full force in college athletics and may become even more important than high school recruiting. Let's just be patient and see how it plays out. We may lose a bunch of 3 stars and replace them with 4 and 5 stars in the portal. Or at least guys who want to play for the new coach at THE University of Florida. Don't really want any kid that doesn't want to be here.

Michi,

FWIW -

Jaguars Coach Urban Meyer Says "No Substance" to Tosh Lupoi Joining Gators

The Florida Gators have been rumored to be bringing in a variety of coaches under head coach Billy Napier, including Jaguars DL coach Tosh Lupoi.

There's no question that neither Bowen nor Lupoi would leave their posts right now to take on a gig. It's common practice for a coach to fulfill the remainder of their contract, at least in the first year, before taking on another post.

NFL regular season ends on
Sunday, January 9, 2022 & Jags not heading to playoffs, so

Who knows ?

Problem with it is you aren't usually going to get players that are really SEC dominant except at QB here and there. We did get that pass rusher a few years back but the norm I think will be basic SEC starter most times like we got with the current DT transfers. Blue chippers that didn't get the nod early at their current schools and a few grad transfers. I guess I may be underestimating getting top players with this from head coaching changes.

This is a great point. NFL teams build winners all the time with free agents. Buccaneers immediately come to mind.

Don’t misunderstand. Im in favor of signing and developing our own talent but this year we are obviously going to have to supplement our roster with transfers.

I think going forward all coaches will need to learn to balance the portal with recruiting the high school players. There is becoming an increasing amount of talent in the portal.

Jefferson and Grimes came from the portal. I think the amount of talent in the portal will be much better going forward. Would not be surprised in a lot ends up in there this year with all the coaching turnover at major programs.

I think Tosh could go either way. But if we don’t land Tosh and Salw the recruitniks are foing to riot

Fever, to paraphrase his presser

“We aren’t going to rush for kids we can’t evaluate before ESD, we will focus on kids who don’t sign early and the portal”

That seems logical

I can respect that approach, one of patience and confidence.....not panic and fear. This also gives him more availability for the next class.

Jon Greenard, one of the best defensive players we’ve had in a while was a transfer.

So you feel like you know more than Napier, without any idea of him or his plans, but were totally on board with Mullen, who PROVED he had no idea how to handle a coaching staff by retaining and defending the worst DC in college football, and also being totally on board with the ACTUAL worst DC in college football.

Instalogic. You gotta love it.
