A while back during one of the mass shootings hysteria, I did some research on "so called" assault rifles (which are no more deadly than most high capacity hunting rifles. The percentage of deaths from mass shooting deaths was dwarfed by the annual number of deaths by indigestion and choking. It's a horrible thing if it happens to you or loved ones, but the incidence of it happening are literally astronomical. We have gun laws to keep guns out of the criminals hands, but criminals don't obey laws. And we need guns to protect us from criminals. Get rid of the criminals, problem solved.

I don't think you realize what gun owners (people who you describe as gun nuts but in reality, are just mostly hunters and sport shooters) go thru on a constant basis. There are an estimated 90 million gun owners in this country and a handful of mostly already convicted felons are committing these crimes.
To suggest that this no infringements are taking place is ridiculous. There are states that you cannot legally drive thru with your gun to go hunting in another state.
