Correct. He believes any gun owner who has 'too many' guns (he decides how many is 'too many') is a criminal.
If you are buying guns that you 'don't need' (he decides how guns should be used) then in his eyes you are a criminal.
That's why he has no plan. Cause his plan is that you have to justify to him why you own the gun, and if he decides that you don't NEED the gun then you are a criminal. That's why he equates any gun owner who has 'too many' guns or who uses them in a way that he doesn't feel they NEED is a 'gun nut'.
He's also a very bored troll, as @BamaFan1137 pointed out. But he also has let his terror of guns warp his thinking. His logic toward gun ownership if enacted would actually make the gun violence problem far worse.
It is what it is. You cannot reason with crazy people.
And us pointing out these facts will shut him up for a few days and then he’ll pop up in another thread asking “how many guns do you really need to protect your family?” and the whole cycle will repeat.
His fear is palpable.
This...100% this. He, and people of a similar mindset to his own, should be the arbiter of truth on the subject.
Thankfully our FF's made our country different...gloriously different. Yes, there are cost associated to that difference.
Yep. He trolls with that point, but you can also tell he truly believes that simply reducing the amount of guns out there solves the gun violence problem. That's why he gets pissed when posters start talking about how many guns they own. He seems to truly believe that's contributing to the gun violence problem.

It occurs to me if the gun nuts are driven in toto by the subliminal drumbeat of the gun industry, it seems counter-intuitive to me that GoMM would have swallowed the message piecemeal but not have bothered to feed his masters by purchasing a single firearm.

Sales are dictated on two things, supply and demand.
We have a ton of supply when it comes to guns. And they are pretty easy to make more of.
So in order to sell them, we also need a ton of demand.
That's where fanatics like theo come. We need crazies ranting about how we have to arrest the guns, have to strip them from law-abiding gun owners. We need crazies who reposition the law-abiding citizens as really being the criminals and force the law-abiding citizens to justify their need for guns.
Get a critical mass of crazies and the sane law=abiding citizens begin to take notice.....and stock up on guns.
